With properly staked gas key bolts,it really serves no real purpose. You domt hear about broken bcg's. The bolt is the part that needs to be solid and by far the HM defense HMB battle bolt is by far the best on the market. 4 years since it was first designed and they havent had not even one come back broken yet. Not even in military testing.

    • @joesapienza8121

@@FreedomInc ... That's your opinion. Having served 34 years as a United States Marine and having put tens of thousands of rounds through the M-16 / M-4 platforms , I've seen plenty of bolts fail. POF has a bolt with an excess of a million rounds of high pressure ammunition through it and it still chugs away like it's brand spanking new. Staked keys can still loosen , regardless of how well they were done. POF submitted their BCG to the military as well and it exceeded their endurance testing ten fold but was not adopted for one simple reason , price. Anyone knowing how military contracts work , should also know that while the part, weapon , ect. must meet certain criteria, price plays a very big part on purchasing as well. I'll stick with my POF any day of the week. Perfection doesn't come cheap.

I've got a Lantac in my BCM rifle and it works as you would expect. It has some features for running suppressed that are beneficial. Never had an issue and it cleans up easily. I don't think you need to run a $250 BCG but it certainly doesn't hurt. The BCG is the heart of the rifle. If you were going to have 2 key items it would be the barrel and the BCG.

    • @HannibalTX

Don't forget the buffer. Proper functioning is a balance of all three to avoid smooth functioning without a recoil bounce. There are vids in here for the proper weighted buffer and there are about a dozen different buffers for full automatic, M16, AR15 and M4s. If you change bolt groups and go to a heavier barrel (or a longer one-20") you will need to address the buffer.

I have that BCG from them too! I got it for my FN m16a4 upper.
Look at the bolt, if the F is underlined it means it was manufactured by an FN subcontractor not actually FNMI. Pretty neat, at first I was like wtf, but I don't think FNMI actually makes bolts. The underlined F is only ever on the bolt, and it just means they approved of it and it went through the mandatory 45 round test for the military.
Also I'm pretty sure those BCG's are from the M16A2 days, I bought a A2 stock kit from shark arms and the stock was an unissued M16A2 stock not the M16A4 (button on trapdoor has a bigger notch on M16A4). Also pretty neat

  • @MeganHAO
    @MeganHAO Месяц назад

I realy dont like nitride barrels or partd as the quality can be bad
Only a handful of comaomys make BCGs and Bolts same with most AR parts to be hoenst, with PSA you could get a nice milspec bolt from a good comoany or not, my first AR build was an 18" psa FN CHF upper but hard to take it apart as it was not toqued correctly but those FN barrels are very high qaulity and for a duty rifle CHF CL is the way to go, and with .223/5.56 in prefer 20" or 18" barrels as the round was made for 20" so you get quite alot of extra velocity vs a 16 or 14.5
The best BGC is a standard milspec phispate finish that has been chromed properly inside, best to buy the BGC and gas key seppeare so you can true it with a stone put the correct "bedding" conpound on then torqe it doen with the correct bolts and stake it. All other ginishes may look good on the outside but if they are not well machined on the inside and hard chromed properly they dont run well, the standsrd nilspec bilt is slso fine but a good idea to inspect thst and the BGC and usualy upgrade the extractor spring. Dont use a coated extractor as they sometimes dont catch.
If you habe a standard barrel edtention thats clocked properly then rounded bolt lugs wont help.
The best BGC and bolt you could get would be fully chromed but i dont know any company thay makes good ones.
Since the patents for stuff like the KAC E3 barrel extention and bolt (rounded with 2 ejectors) ran out some time ago i think a comoany will make afforable versions.
I just go with a FN barrel and prefrably a fitted bolt with a new gas key if its not fitted then check the headspace and fire 2 overpressure proof loads if all it good and after a few hundred rounds with ninoriblems it will be fine.
Im lucky that my uncle is a gubskith as i started on AK kit buids, AR builds are easy but everyone should use a barrel estention gauge when building at the last and torque everything down properly.
If you get a new rifle snd see peening in the barrel extention and or bolt it may not be clocked properly and a barrel extention guage will tell you if its ok or not.
Out of all the vids on YT i feel "scool of the american rifle" is the best for AR15s and AR10s, some of the tools are exoensive but some are pretty cheap and definatly worth it.

MP testing is done while the bolt is inside of a coil of copper wire fed with DC current. The metal inside the coil becomes magnetized. A magnetic UV dye is introduced to the bolt and it will seep into any cracks. The bolt is then rinsed off & examined under a black light. Honeywell has big long tunnels where parts go by on a conveyor belt and are examined under black light by multiple inspectors. They make engines for Chinook helicopters. Busting engine parts on a helicopter sucks ass. It sucks even worse in combat.

I find it very funny to see so many different bolt carriers, coatings, shape, material, sizes, etc. In the AK world the only thing you need to know if they are combloc made or not.

The one in my PSA has been chooching for two years now... probably for a guessimated 3,000+ rounds with no issues and the gas rings still hold it up when the bolt is stood on end. I don't know how much better a fancy-pants bcg is but my ignorance hasn't been problematic thus far.

Shot peening relieves stress in the parts it has nothing to do mag particle testing

    • @snowkrayze21

In this case I would say it induces stress to help reduce crack propagation. It is used for different results in different situations.

    • @chiefro7
      @chiefro7 4 года назад +1

Kotaboy32 Tactical The Surefire OBC isn’t adjustable or specifically intended for suppressed use. It is an enhanced bcg made by Jim Sullivan with an elongated cam pin path similar to the LMT to delay unlocking, dlc coating, an integral sprung weight at the back of the carrier that delays it at the back of stroke to reduce fire rate and bolt-over-base malfunctions along with prevent carrier bounce upon chambering, as well as a shorter buffer and carrier key to increase the carrier stroke length which also mitigates bolt-over-base malfunctions by creating more forward inertia and allowing the magazine more time to present the next round for feeding. The buffer says “suppressed” but it is not an adjustable system or specifically intended for suppressed use, though it may improve the operation of a suppressed system. From my understanding the “suppressed” marking is more of a codification of weight and showing it’s for use only with the OBC than anything, as it will cause damage if used with regular bcg’s. There is no unsuppressed buffer for the OBC and Surefire states its intended to improve reliability on both suppressed and unsuppressed weapons. I just mentioned it because it was made by Jim Sullivan as his take on the best reliability and functionality enhancement to the ar platform and would have been curious to see where it, and/or possibly the LMT since it too has the enhanced cam pin path, would have ended up on the chart in comparison with others like the Sharps. I just look at it like the guy who essentially made the ar15 a reality out of the ar10 created it specifically to improve the operation of the gun he made to perform with the new ammo, shorter barrels, etc. of today so it has to have at least some level of benefit. I have the Sharps, Geissele REBCG, and the Surefire OBC and they are all incredible in their own right. Love your videos sir, and appreciate the reply!
Additionally, Small Arm Solutions has quite an in-depth video on the Surefire OBC, and just seeing the substantial fire rate reduction on full auto is worth watching it for. Take care and God Bless!

Most who say this realize later the cost involved in just tools to build their own, which a lot of those tools are needed to do legit upgrades.
You’d be better off with a new trigger or barrel, vs replacing the bcg

Best bcg in the world is the lmt enhanced bcg or their regular fa bcg. Lmt is unmatched and socom reached out to them to create the enhanced bcg for that very reason.

    Plain & simple
All carriers do the same job
1 A lighter one saves weight "quicker cycle"
2 a cut out is designed to avoid tilt " cycles planes straight"
3 Nickel boron coated " easier to clean" cycles easier.
Winner "Toolcraft" Nib coated doesn't require much lubricant to stay in the battle longer is Mil- spec ..... If it's shot Pen it's been tested to withstand high pressure.
All metals begin to degrade after 60,000 to 100,000.00 rds.
    Simplicity. ..........
    Cost doesn't determine quality.
