Bonehoard > crew the copter > swing with both. Blocks the 7/6 trample with both and takes one trample, plus 3 from copter. Should be a win in match 2 game 3.

Yeah and a removal spell shouldn’t have been a concern because if Sam had one, then he would have cast it the turn prior to get a lethal attack through.

1:15:38 Instead of putting two lands back and planning to Metamorph the Carnosaur next turn, I wonder if it would have been better to put back Metamorph (keeping a land) and flipping Metamorph this turn. As it turns out, you’d even get to keep a land to play Firestorm this turn.

Nexus does get to turn all those extra mana sources into proactive plays, which is nice - helps with one of the common issues I've noticed with this sort of deck, that you need as many lands as normal plus mana rocks meaning flooding is a real risk.

Yeah crucible strip is cool and all but you need to already be ahead or at least at parity and if at parity requires other cards to get ahead, if you are already ahead basically anything wins. Crucible strip does nothing when you are getting beaten down by decks that function on 2-3 lands. I don't even know if I'd put it in top 10 two card combos

  • @olazawho

I have a completely unsubstantiated theory that, these days, committing early to a strategy that requires fast mana to keep up is big risk. Those cards are high value picks for most decks, the opponent drafters are incredibly savvy (and as such likely to cut you if they can) and the cube list is just so streamlined in general these days. We're down to just the "best" ramp pieces afaik, so there aren't many of the old low-value ones you that one could use to fill in those slots. I've been wanting to collect data from these videos for awhile, just for fun. Hopefully I've got time soon and I can look into verifying this by looking at the winrate of decks that "need acceleration" (maybe as of pack 2+?) vs the others.

This was a bit of a subpar draft for you Luis. You could've had a sick Green based OR Blue/Black control deck but you got a bit fixated on how crazy you could make your deck go but also passed Crucible, and Stripmine/Wasteland was odd.
