I think u helped me understand the ending a bit. I didn’t get the multiple jasons while watching.

Thank you! My brain was fried. Just watched the last episode and i was wondering... Aren't there now going to be multiple Charlie's and Daniela's?! Couldn't they all pair up with all the multiple Jason's and live happily ever after?

haha that would be the cutest thing, but multiverse doesn't work like that, at least not in Dark Matter. Surely there will be multiple Charlie's and Daniela's, but so will be multiple Jasons at any particular point. From a long lens, these variables are nothing but atoms and molecules that are created every time we make a choice or something around us changes

That's exactly the question I have which is why are there a hundred or more Jasons competiting for Jason1's family when there should also be multiple Daniellas and Charlies at any one point?

@@filmfugitives I just hate this whole concept (already hated it at Marvel), just think about this :
"In fact, some sources suggest that the average person makes an eye-popping 35,000 choices per day. Assuming that most people spend around seven hours per day sleeping and thus blissfully choice-free, that makes roughly 2,000 decisions per hour or one decision every two seconds."
Now multiply that with the people on earth .. and of course the more worlds we have created the more will be created since that all works exponential.
So i personally prefer what they have in Stargate or Star Trek, where there are also some parallel universes, but there is more or less a given number and thats it. And not "now we have 8 billion" and after 2 second we already have 8 bill x 8 bill and 2 second later its 8b x 8b x 8b .. and after one hour we have already not even the words anymore to give those amounts a name i guess.

@philipperv it's because those Jasons are travelling from different universes/forks and they're all trying to find that one original universe. All the other Daniellas and Charlies are in their specific universes.

In theory (well, _theory_ according to the series), if they waited some time (for a bunch of forked universes to occur) and then they tried to travel back to that original universe then, yes. But they obviously don't want to do that.

so after each choice... like right now I typed this, but each word and letter is a choice, even my pace of breathing. So is each millisecond, infinite other universes spreading out? It's fiction, but are there any actual laws in place like: NO, Only choices that would cause the next day to be different. ?

The Many-Worlds Interpretation (which this is based on) implies that universes branch not just for significant choices or events but for every quantum event, no matter how minuscule. It suggests that all possible outcomes of quantum events actually occur in separate, parallel universes. According to this interpretation, every time a quantum event has multiple possible outcomes, the universe “splits” or “branches” into different versions, each corresponding to one of those outcomes. So every split second, there's almost an infinite number of branches.
