They did such a fantastic job of refurbishing them. They're also way better than the 375's in my opinion although both the 395 and 375 trains are good. (Exept for the 375/9's with the 3+2 Configuration) Southeastern are improving so much now.

I guess the turquoise works for accessibility, with it being a more contrasting colour, although it now does remind me of the DLR scheme somewhat.
I personally liked the SE Blue with lilac/grey contrast though ,it feels soft on the eyes, which is welcome on the early morning commute!

Omg I love the works done at St Pancras, I regularly use the HS1 line but often jump off at Stratford International, those new passenger information boards are like night and day compared to the old ones. And good to see that the Javelins now have USB-A *and* USB-C ports, a great improvement. I didn't like the turquoise at first, but it looks great against the green Kentish countryside it's barreling through, and makes the cabin look a lot brighter when the train is in a tunnel. I'd say it's an improvement over the grey and dark blue predecessor. Great video as always.

I love everything about the Javelins, old and refurbished, but I most like the fact that you don't have to go through a bustling crowded station to find it. The escalators and lifts are right next to the entrance, next to Kings Cross. Not to mention it only takes 54 minutes to reach Folkestone!

Hello there, the refurbishment has featured the alteration of the seat backs - the original plain blue seats had ripples in them,
The refurbished seat backs are more flat, that is they do not have the ripples in them.
Best wishes and take care. Kind regards, Peter Skuce. St Albans. Hertfordshire.

You did a great job introducing me to this new interior refurb, of what is really my favourite train!
Before my redundancy at lockdown, I often rode this stock when I went from our London office to Canterbury Cathedral for equipment maintenance.
One of my biggest thrills is when, soon after it leaves Stratford, it accelerates up to 140mph, all before it exits the tunnel into the Kent "countryside"! And still such a smooth ride! And, yes - quieter than the Elizabeth Line, which only reaches around 60mph (so I'm told), in it's respective tunnel.
Great new departure signs, too! The old ones were getting to look somewhat dated!

I never ridden a javelin train in my life. My point view is that both interiors, the old and new, are very good. But if I had to pick an option, I would go for the refurbished interiors

I absolutely love the new turquoise colouring on the javelin, very nice in my opinion. Much better than the original colouring!
The trains are still astounding and I will always like them. It would also be cool if they one day get used somewhere else, but maybe as a different type with only a 125mph speed. Either way, I love the trains.

A lot better than the previous 'shades of grey' incarnation, which I didn't think much of. You build an amazing space age supertrain and someone decided on a bland grey/dull blue interior. Maybe this was British understatement or maybe commuters like grey? Either way, it all seemed a bit sad.

Nice looker, but the network needs to improve. I used the service from Gravesend to St.Pancras a couple of months ago, it arrived in Gravesend 15 minutes late and a couple of carriages short. I had to stand the whole way (ok, only 15min or so, but that's not the point - I would not expect the first off-peak service of the day to be that late and so overcrowded). My return in the evening was also late and also standing room only, but at least I arrived early and got a seat. So for me, the hard product (the rolling stock itself) is fine but the soft product (quality of service) has room for improvement.

    Question:
Why do the window seats on one side of the carriages have lift-up armrests, while the ones on the opposite side are fixed? - There must be a reason, but although I've been using the Javelins ever since their introduction I've never been able to fathom it out. Can anybody help?

while it’s undeniable that Southeastern have done a great job of refurbishing their high speed trains, I can’t help feeling resentful that the same amount of attention isn’t being given to their metro trains, most of which are severely out of date and desperately need their own refurb at least or complete replacement altogether.

    • @CptnPhasma
      @CptnPhasma 8 месяцев назад +1

The reason why the networkers haven't been given a refurb is because they are going to be replaced as SE put out an order for 600 carriages in 4 car formations.
The 376s are due to be refurbished once the last javelin has been refurbished

It looks pretty good. Interesting that you mentioned the seats being more comfortable than LNER. For a journey of 40 minutes or so, perhaps on-board refreshment is not needed. My only quibble would be the revolting rainbows that seem to be plastered over trains, these days.
These seem to be very good trains, but they could be even more useful with the Marshlink line electrified with 3rd. rail for access to Hastings.
The indicator board at St. Pancras does look good, but I still think the station itself is a triumph of hype over practicality.
