  • Here is another video, partially in time lapse, showing how I like to set up bioactive paludariums. This enclosure however is much larger than the last one I set up for viewers to see. Once more, I use a variety of products from varying manufacturers that I feel best fit what I am trying to accomplish. Eventually at some point, vertebrate animals will also inhabit this enclosure currently only housing a few shrimp and a bunch of land loving arthropods. Until I decide what will live in here, this enclosure is an amazing living ecosystem that I can sit back, stare at, and just enjoy.

Since Im a mushroom nerd and a reptile nerd I began using native turkey tail and and hexagonal polypore mushrooms in my paludarium builds. I dry them in a dehydrator as much as possible without turning them to dust and then coat them in polycrylic. They make excellent covers for those spots the coco coir silicone mixture just refuses to stay stuck to. It kinda gives the land area a diorama look
