I ended up in west central FL in ‘16 - I used to watch Unsolved Mysteries religiously back in the 90’s 😂 Long before I came here, this house in Clermont & another one in Lake Wales were on my list to go drive by and see, because of that show lol. Great video about this, thanks! It’s sad that his murder is still not solved.
Simple, but deep story; fully plausible. We rented a very haunted house when I was in elementary school, so a long time ago, but with the characteristics that became commonly known: unexplained scratching noises; very cheap rent compared to others, and whatever it was there, persisted; long after we moved out and decades later, I was lucky enough to get a look inside from the current renter. Vernice gentleman and family, and lots of religious icons. But I could still feel the presence and I knew it was aware of me. Not going back!
Thanks, DAD. Very intriguing story, as usual. I’ll just say this: There’s NO statute of limitations on murder, whoever did it. SOMEbody knows something. It’s very, very rare that a murder is committed, that the perp doesn’t wind up confessing or at least hinting, to someone, about what they did, to try and assuage their guilt. Whether that person chooses to reveal what they know, is another matter.
Sounds mighty suspicious to me. Now I’m not accusing anyone but, it sounds mighty suspicious…. Thank you for the excellent video and story. I love your channel. Blessings to you and yours.❤️
When i was in the 6th grade, my family rented a huge 2 story house. A man had fallen to his death when they were putting the roof joices on the house. It was one of the first houses built in Orange Texas. It WAS haunted!
This has been cropping up thru the decades on and off … it has been a very long time since I first became aware of this story but each time a new show airs it just adds more questions and mystery to it .. will it ever b solved or go down as yet another one to ponder over til the ends of time … there never seems to b “new” information to add to the story but it wud b nice to have a concrete conclusion and people cud finally RIP … Luv ur vids btw … thnx for ALL ur hard work Be well 🐥🇨🇦🐥 Hugs to all❤❤
❤ your channel. I heard this story when I was a child and always wondered about it. It happened in Buford, Georgia. It was in the 1800s . A school teacher was at home sitting at her desk grading papers. Her husband snuck up behind her and stuck her in the back with scissors. The man that worked for my dad sworn he saw that lady every rainy day from the school bus window. This was in the 60s. The building was turned into apartments, but nobody would rent that apartment. I always wanted to know more. This is all the information I remember.
This is one strange and twisted tale. Edit: I just watched the Unsolved Mysteries episode. Season 4 episode 7. The episode tells a slightly different version of the events. After watching the episode I don't believe the Farris family had anything to do with the murder. I think Mr Harden was involved in something or perhaps discovered something that got him killed. As for the dreams, June could have psychic abilities she's unaware of and the dreams were premonitions but she didn't know to interpret them as such. I think watching the Unsolved Mysteries episode may give you a different perspective on this story. But there are still a lot of unanswered questions.
Well if "ghosts" are not truly part of this world/universe, then it stands to reason that they are outside of time, so it's very possible that a soul of a deceased person went back in time to seek the help of the next home owner. But this is definitely a case of Occam's Razor. Before we can talk about a time traveling soul, we need to rule out the plausible, which is nicely laid out in this video.
Starkly brutal murder. Kind of scary to me in a way. What sort of person walking around amongst us could just do that. You know it was for the house. Bet it's got cold spots.
Very interesting and strange story. Someone knows the truth, most likely Miss J.F.? Hopefully the answer to this mystery will come to light sooner than later. As always enjoyed hearing about it.
The story sounds mighty fishy to me. First off who would want to buy the house you had bad dreams about? I’ve had dreams and even thoughts of things that will happen but I be darned if I want to be in it in real life!
Why and how do ppl have these weird dreams is a very real question. I had a crazy dream about a person being burned up in specifically a car and when I got in my car in the morning, the radio started reporting about a body being found in a burned out car. No news was on when I slept. Weird.
Catching up on all your videos! 💀👁️ I feel like some people can feel/ see the energies and some can’t. I, unfortunately, can’t, even though I have been trying 🤷♀️
Watching this before bed. Very weird! Brilliant story as usual, creepy , creepy story. Poor John. That is so sad as he was still so young And his poor family. I did pay attention to the timeline. That was suspicious indeed. This June seems very suspect I must say. Unrelated to this story though, I have myself experienced Deja Vu about a place , it was super odd. I went to a place called Ludlow, I had never been before . I knew it had a castle and seen pictures of the castle online , however hadn't seen anything other than that, and didn't look at where the castle was or how to get there, but I knew exactly where everything was. It creeped me out.
While it's not Dixie per say, I'd still love to see some stories from SoTX. I grew up in Bexar (Bear) and Guadalupe (Whaa-dTha-Loo-peh) counties and there were a ton of local legends. From Satan's Dance hall to La Llorona (Yoh-Rown-Nah) translation "The Crying Woman". There's even a creek named for the story (Woman Hollering Creek). I'd love to hear you share your findings. Thanks for a wonderful channel! ❤
She maybe had a premonition. I've had these and they're usually distressing snd more of a bad feeling. We're talking heavy dread of calamity to come. Different for some and maybe case here.
Thank you Dixie. You're the best. Always look forward to your videos. Amazing though that this case was never solved. I would venture to guess it was a revenge killing. I think he crossed someone he shouldn't have. Anyway like other commenters have posted-Florida is full of strange tales. 🤔🤔By the way that house was built in 1881 if I'm not mistaken. I not really sure though
Not a lot of history on this one like I normally cover. It's hard to say what was behind the crime. Some have mentioned in the comments he was known to contract non-union workers, and that unions could have been behind it.
I believe Stephanie Harlowe did a RUclips video on her channel. She focuses mostly on the murder and the deceased person's life. It sounds like the murder may have been linked to a union because the man did contracting with non-union workers. The murder may have been linked to either locals, or to some questionable transactions from the previous town they lived in. I do not believe the lady with the dreams had anything to do with it.
i've been driving by this house for probably 10-15 years now, it's a very nice looking house and atleast now is in a pretty unique location being in downtown clermont. Not sure how it was back then but I definitely would still consider it even with its past lol
At first i was thinking it was probably the 1st wife cause she was jealous of her ex's new life. But then after hearing the time line, i thought about how they say that houses or places call for you, but you don't even realize that. There are several theories running through my head, but this is definitely weird. I have a house that calls to me and i don't know why, but as a child i was scared of that house, it was built in the early 1900's and its falling apart now, but it stays in my mind, but i dont dare go near it.
I doubt she and her family took Harden out just to get his home. Even if yes, it would make less sense to bring up his ghost and bring attention to this situation. Interesting story, but it seems she just had a premonition of what was to come. Or Unsolved Mysteries make a mistake in the timeline.
Hello Storyteller How… odd. The circumstances, as far as it is possible to ascertain, lend themselves to curious conclusions. Puzzling indeed. It doesn't appear she ever got enough of a premonition to warn John, as far as wanting the house that is weird to me but unless she's psychotic why kill for it? She clearly has some sort of supernatural ties to the house but what 🤔 again, unless she's psychotic and lying about everything and got her family on board to do the same. Intriguing all around!
I was thinking it was strange that she ran down the stairs and out the door in her dream. Then the John did the same only to be shot once he exited the house. It could be a premonition or it could have been a very sick way of getting a house.
A dream happens when you are sleeping and a vision happens when you are awake. Not sure why someone would want to buy the house so soon after a murder.
Why would someone want an old house with such negativity around it. There was plenty of old houses around. Why was she so intent on buying that one. I have lived my whole life in Florida and years ago a woman shot and killed her abusive husband. She was sent to jail. The house was up for sale. I was out one night with friends. We pulled in the driveway and I was so creeped out-I just wanted to get far away from it. As it turned out someone did buy the house and I heard they were quite unhappy when they eventually found out what had happened there. Who needs that trouble in their life. You would want a home with pleasant vibes I would think
It was not exactly a dream she had about the house, more like a reoccurring nightmare. I personally would not like to live in a house which featured in numerous nightmares. But perhaps none of that was true, June really wanted the house and was prepared to go to any lengths to get it and her dream story was all made up after she obtained it. Very odd.
One of three things are happening here. 1. The whole story is fake. 2. A whole lot of crazy stuff is going on. 3. Mommy June has got some splaining to do. Or if you want a fourth possibility...The Pot in that area must be some good stuff lol.
Definitely weird. Someone set his car on fire just to lure him out to murder him. That is truly sick.
I know, right? There has to be more to that.
My first thought was that it was his ex wife
That's what I thought too.
I love the porch on that house. June may have been one of the ghosts that visited that house during her out of body visits (while she sleeps).
Hmm, that's a possibility I didn't think of.
Dear Dixie After Dark,
Nothing like a Haunted House story!!

I heard this story on unsolved mysteries before it's so interesting awesome job bringing this to light breathing fresh air into it
Thank you
This story has always left a "What if" question in my mind.
For sure
When i was in the 6th grade, my family rented a huge 2 story house. A man had fallen to his death when they were putting the roof joices on the house. It was one of the first houses built in Orange Texas. It WAS haunted!
One of the first? Wow!!!
Maybe the killer died when the hauntings stopped in 1992 or whenever it was.
Now that could very well be.
Who wouldn't have done a little research on an old house before purchasing it or at least when the haunting first began.
I'd stay away just from having the dreams alone.

Someone earlier mentioned it could be related to some union workers disputes
That would make sense. Union disputes can lead to violence.
I’ve had dreams about on house so many times. I can draw a blueprint if I wanted.
Good or bad dreams? If bad, would you buy the house if you found it? I don't know if I would.

Starkly brutal murder. Kind of scary to me in a way. What sort of person walking around amongst us could just do that. You know it was for the house. Bet it's got cold spots.
No doubt
Who knows what Mr. Hardin did that no one knew about except his killer. Lots of people lead scary lives no one knows about.
So true. That seems like a revenge killing and very well planned obviously. 1970s and 80s Florida was wild
That's scary within itself...but so true.

I'm sure anyone who investigated his murder at the time came up with other suspects and other reasons besides this woman wanting to buy the house.
I usually love these older homes, but this house is creepy looking
Those awnings on the corner windows running into each other don't help.
It has the look for sure
Been by the house a few years back and was told its haunted never really knew the story behind until now! Thank you for another good one!

Have you ever thought about doing a story on the "House of 1000 Cadavers" in Columbus, Ga.
I've had it on my list for a while now to circle back to. Columbus is just down the road from me.
Strange for sure.
Yup
No matter how you look at it, it's still tragic.
Absolutely

What an interesting theory.🤔🤔 Either Ms. Farris is a gifted psychic or a possible murderess. Eek!

Sad that his murder was never solved. Can't believe someone would buy the house when in their dreams there was a feeling of anxiety in the home.
