I was recently in the hospital for surgery. I live in Alabama not far from this place. One of the nursing students mentioned being from Trion, we talked about this place for a good bit. She said one of her uncles remembers Joey going to the store at the bottom of the mountain and being one of the nicest people ever.

You never really know people I guess. Reminds me of the time my bro-in-law had a murderer come through his store. He said he never got strange vibes off the guy, but a while later cops showed up wanting the surveillance footage from the store.

What horrible people. Why kill the guy they took the car from? What else did they do which they weren’t caught?

I've been to Corpse Wood, it's spooky quiet, like I mean not a sound anywhere. Well until we got a ways back down the trail which is very long and deep into the woods, we heard dogs howling . The air is heavy and thick around the remains of the house and it's sad there, You can just feel it in the air, I was ready to leave as soon as we finally got there. lol. We didn't disturb or take anything, not a fan of folks doing that either. The only remains of the house are the spiral staircase and some parts of brick walls.

I grew up a short ride from Corpsewood. There is way more to this story than just the public records .
There were things deemed " too prejudicial " to be presented at trial .
There are also things that are local legen that are TRUE. I knew people who were here, went to parties there and had first hand stories of things that went on there . There is also a more recent case that isnt legally connected, but the " victim " personally claimed to have been involved with Sutter and his end was suspiciously similar ( Brian Jewell + Walker County GA )
    * the side of the ridge that the ruins sit on are dead. Everyone agrees it died when " a bald man and a blonde woman came in to bless the land for Satan"
I was there about 2 years , its the same dead pine wood as when i was teenager trying to prove how brave i was.

I literally live 10 mins from this place. I’ve been there several times throughout the years. Each time I went the place looked more and more dismantled and rundown until the last time I went late 90’s there wasn’t hardly anything left it was so sad. I remember the first time I seen it as a kid in the late 80’s the house was halfway standing but there was a lot of it still there. At the time had I seen it for what it was then to the time I seen it more recently I would have paid more attention to everything maybe took pictures. It’s completely disheartening now to see how there’s nothing hardly left. Each time I visited there was such a heavy feeling it was thick! All the stores that were told to me mostly haunting and demonic I was on edge so to speak. I never witness anything abnormal other than the second trip that I had made in my later teenage years, there was a presence there I felt, off in the distance I heard a banging in the background. The best way I know how to explain it, the sound was like a sound of a backhoe or trachole banging its scoop on a rock or something .. boom … boom.. boom.. I could literal feel it in the ground under me feet. There wasn’t any explanation for it, it was just unnerving and loud. After some time there it never stopped, just kept going on. Anyone who has been to this place knows how secluded it is. There isn’t houses or people around for miles and miles !! It was just strange. My sisters ex boyfriend told us a story of him and some friends who went late one night at midnight and the story he told was horrifying.
Love your version of the story and history of it. There were quite a few things mentioned I knew nothing about thanks for doing this!’ Great job!!

❤ loved the telling of this sad but true macabre tale. I realized something that it seems that strangeness like this occurs with someone who comes from a large family or who has many children of their own. Anyway, it's strange how greed brings out the evil in us all. People somehow think that others have wealth because of where they live not knowing that someone lives by the month and struggles the same as those who intend to get rich by stealing what isn't there to begin with. I so love your channel and the telling of tales true or folklore that makes you go,hmm. Still catching up. Blessings my dear friend. Excellent video as always

I was in the Georgia Tech band with LT Kirby Phelps in 1976-77, and did some research on his murder. Phelps was returning home to Oklahoma on leave when he decided to stop at a rest area outside of Vicksburg when West and Brock came along. Phelps was taken to a treeline, tied up, and executed by two shots to the head. Kirby's body was found by hunters the next day. His car, an old Toyota which he had driven as a student, was taken. The motive was simply that West and Brock needed to change getaway vehicles. When West was arrested in Chattanooga he was still driving the Toyota
West and Brock were tried and convicted for Phelp's murder and sentenced to death. However, the Mississippi State Supreme Court overturned the convictions and the cases were never retried.
So, we as taxpayers have been keeping West and Brock alive and well in the Georgia Department of Corrections for the past 40 years. Those murderers have received every consideration available under the law.
Too bad their victims have not...

As a matter fact, Satan worshipers, or people who belongs to the church of Satan, or actually atheists you should do your research. They were two gay men who like to have their fun. This was in the 80s with the stuff wasn’t accepted. But the same story and today’s day, and nobody would even look at their sex room. It’s a normal thing now that Fifty Shades of Grey of come out. Just found your channel. This is heartbreaking as with the others I've watched. This reminds me of the story not far from where I live of Brandon Teena who was transgender and several people were killed over it. Thankfully the murderer is rotting in jail for life. There's a movie on it called "Boys Don't Cry".

Heartbreaking, for sure. I've never heard that story you mention. Thanks for the heads up. I'll check that movie out. At least they caught the murderers in both these cases. That's somewhat of a win, although all this could have easily been avoided by just letting people be in peace. Thanks for the comment.
