  • In this episode of BTS (behind the scenes) with Lachlan, i build the vibration isolator for the DIY car mount. What this does is absorbs all the bumps while driving to make the ronin smoother, it also helps make the gimbal motors last longer because it reduces at lost of stress.
    Part list.
-2x stainless steel plate 200x200x3mm - $20 'helps to know someone'
    -2 metres of 5mm steel wire - $8

    cost - $40

I am doing same stuff now, ordered Ronin M adapter and magnetic cups. Nice to see someone who do it by his hands, not just throwing money.

I just wanted to come back after watching this months ago. Built this rig in like 2 hours while the event was going. I got some of my favorite shots with it. I'm still playing with the mounting as I just used suctions cups at first but now i've attached it to a bike rack and I'm just waiting to test it at this point. Just want to say thank you for the ideas.

Lashaun Miller I’m happy to hear this video helped, your shots with the mount look like they came out nicely!

Any updates on this? I just built a similar one and I'm curious what camera you're mounting to it and if you ended up adding more cables. Trying to asses how many cables will be needed to support a camera with lens and battery that weighs about 6lbs. Also trying to determine how much bounce is enough and how much is too much. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks for sharing the video.

kdemotorsports I have 1 6.5mm steel cable per side for my song a7s with 17-40mm canon lens, check out 'cloud mount' RUclips videos and observe how there one works, that's what I did :) I'll make a follow up video in a couple of days sorry it's been a while

Any tips on adjusting this? I just finished building one but it’s a bit too bouncy going over bumps.

You can either use a bigger cable or you can make the bend have a smaller radius

@@BellyLachlan so make it stiffer? It seemed like it might have been too stiff. I’ll try it though, thanks

@@JHANKSMEDIA its a lot of trial and error to find the right size and radius, just mess around with it, you want it to be stiff but loose enough it absorb bumps in the road

Would this work with wood instead of steel plates?
