    I really appreciate your takes, and articulation. I don't have much inclination to go through scriptures, but it is telling how you use them to make sense of misc., including free will. The example of Ester, is not a way/detail I've noticed/thought of, just to name a (imo) good example of what I mean.
    ,,, like, what I mean to say, is that I find these takes from the class, educative, as if I was in class.
    Thank you for uploading Ollie, I wish you stay safe, be well, and prosper in your endeavor. It's very helpful for me personally, to get the nuanced connection(s) in the ancient teachings, and modern times, and I must admit that you've helped me get an appreciation, and respect for Jewish values I've not had

    In my studies of Kabbalah, it is often taught that our free will is much more limited than we think but the part we are left with, is the greatest of all gifts. Almost all of our choices are made based on biology, psychology, upbringing, etc... - they are programmed into us, but the veil of physicality makes us think we are making choices from Free Will. Were Free Will comes in is when a moral choice is presented to us, and we must consciously decide on whether we want to follow HaShem's advice (i.e. "Choose Life") or not (i.e Choose Death). It also comes into play when we control our emotions and intellect and make conscious choices based on wanting to connect to HaShem or if we just give into our animal nature. I.e. - Take a deep breath, ask ourselves - will this choice hurt another? Will this choice hurt me? If the shoe was on the other foot, would I want the other to do the same thing? This is the beginning of "Love Thy Neighbor as Thyself" - the mitzvot that holds Creation together.

      Love Thy Neighbor as Thyself. Is this what Israel is saying when they drop bombs on buildings collapsing them and killing everyone inside without looking for civilians and hostages? Is this what they said or thought when they killed three half naked unarmed Israeli hostages waiving a white flag? Is this what they thought when they blockaded Gaza? Is this what they thought when Palestinians were killed at a Right of Return Demonstration in 2018? Is this what they say on their annual march through Palestinian populated East Jerusalem chanting “Death to Arabs”?

      @@karlyoung1713 Thank you. I honestly do not dislike the Jewish community, nor did you say I do. I would feel this way about anyone. I can give my personal disagreements to a lot of people, and we can still be cordial to each other as I explain why I feel this way. I live in America where we have pretty much everyone's culture here and I absolutely love it. The majority of the Jewish community does not accept this from me. I have to agree, or I am Antisemitic. Nobody is accepting this from them anymore. Israel and Jews criticize our way of life and unlike them, I believe they should be allowed. Free will is the biggest reason why. There is no Free Will when it comes to disagreeing with Israel. Sad thing is that goes for Jews as well. They will be Antisemitic to their own by calling them, " a self-hating Jew".

    Can we prove that we have free will is a completely absurd question - the very concept of proof necessitates the existence of free will. For without free will there is no such thing as proof - a proof is only valid and relevant to a being that can be free to discriminate between truth and falsehood, statements that are in alignment with the facts of reality and those that negate them (or are arbitrary and therefore devoid of any substance or meaningful content).If you don't have free will there is no meaning to the concept of a proof - for you cannot choose to reason otherwise, all your thoughts, ideas, beliefs and opinions and therefore judgements are pre-determined. What you have then is not proof but rather the blind following of an inevitable process. To be able to discriminate between truth and falsehood the faculty of volition is required. The faculty of volition and the faculty of reason are not separate and distinct faculties - they are the exact same thing viewed through different perspectives.

  • @UlyssesDrax
    @UlyssesDrax 8 дней назад +1

    There are many problems with what you just said, and I'll go through a small surface portion, but you're attempting to reason your belief to a truth. However, your reasoning is flawed. You cannot reach a reasonable conclusion when your workflow is fundamentally fallacious. Before you can proceed into the discussion of freewill, you need to take a step back and monitor every assertion you make and understand whether they're fallacious or not. I mean, you are using logic as the chain of thought in this discussion, so learn to use it correctly.
    1. Atheism has nothing to do with free will. That is an entirely separate discussion. One can be a theist or an atheist and believe, or not believe, in free will. Theism is the belief in a god, or gods while atheism is not having that belief. If one is unable to say the words, "I believe in a god, or gods", then they are an atheist. It's that simple.
    2. "Proof" is a mathematical term where one reaches a definitive conclusion in the study of mathematics. When speaking philosophically however, in which you are, "proof" is a misleading term because we understand that definitive conclusions, or "absolute certainty" in any realm of our existence hasn't been achieved. We instead use the word "evidence" which helps to point us to the most accurate view of reality.
    There's far more I want to point out, but then this comment will be too long to read, and it's already too long! Lol.

    • @TonyFiling
      @TonyFiling 8 дней назад

      Where did you get proof is a mathematical term from? Source?

    • @UlyssesDrax
      @UlyssesDrax 8 дней назад

      @@TonyFiling You can wiki "mathematical proof", but that doesn't matter. I get you. People often use the words interchangeably, even in philosophy, but it's sloppy language. When one "proves" something to be true, then that's a deductive process that leads to a certainty, but not absolute certainty. We find this typically in mathematics, which is a subset within all existence. "Evidence" for an assertion, like "we have free will" or "god exists", however, falls into induction and abduction categories and partially in deduction. We use evidence to reach reasonable conclusions.

    Whats is free will for ? That you can decite whether to turn to the right or left or what to do that day ? What difference does that make? None
    The free will is only for you to choose the Lord Jesus Christ or the world. That will both change your life here and more over after you die.
    Then there is no choice! It’s scary, I’d freak out if I didn’t know what I’m doing or where I’ll go when I die . God bless !
