Hahaha, I like ‘cheeky’ 😄 Part of me thought ‘well this has surely got to go viral and attract views from all over the world’ when in reality it’s not getting a fraction of my normal views… The reason is clear, because my views begin with people who know me and the channel and this is NOT the kind of content they expect from me 😂 But, yep, it’s nice to share something a bit personal and different too and as I’m always saying, variety is the spice of fishing! Cheers 🍻
Wow that's some video. To experience that will remain a lifelong memory. Powerful angling magic. Thank you and your Wife for sharing it with us. Stay safe and thanks again.
I went to Tanzania and Zanzibar in 2014 an experience that will live long in the memory. The sights and sounds of the Serengeti are something very special an experience of a lifetime
Well, that was a pleasant surprise watching this video with a cup of tea on a Saturday morning. Absolutely amazing video. In every aspect. It was like watching a David Attenborough program and the footage was absolutely amazing. Some nice fish as well and it would be Illegal to go on holiday without Going fishing, I’m sure 😂😂….. absolutely spectacular and all the best to you and the family and memories to last a lifetime 👍😊
Completely, 100% ILLEGAL 👍😂 Thanks for the lovely feedback -a very welcome comment and, as you say (and Monty Python used to say), ‘something completely different!’ I’ll be back soon with some British fishing and British weather 🇬🇧 ☁️🎣😄👍
I was born & raised in Africa and began my angling career there. I used to fish for big wild tilapia and they are delicious to eat. I also caught lots of tigerfish, nembwe, chessa, nkupe and the two bigger species of catfish, being the sharptooth and the vundu. I am still learning UK river angling and loving every minute.
That is brilliant to hear - thank you 🙏 Yes, the fishing is VERY different, but if you enjoy fishing like I’m sure we both do then it is ALL great. Hope you might enjoy some of my other vids as a lot of them are on UK rivers. Thanks again for the comment 😎
🤣 Brilliant. I’ve just come back from a nice Saturday trotting on the Thames and despite the spectacular nature of the holiday - never mind the sunshine of Africa -it was really special to back doing some ‘normal’ fishing on running water 😄
What a stunning location, such an amazing diversity of wildlife on land, in the water and in the air. I've never been interested in going on a Safari , but your brilliant filming, that captured so much, has got me changing my mind on this. See you soon, back on the bank in the UK. Thank you and kind regards.
Congrats on 20k Great video the catfish do look cool the footage of the crocdile was insane great watch. Also really enjoyed the trent barbel watch. If you ever want a go at the wels let me know and we can go sandersons. I caught lots up to 44lb there this year and would love to take you. However at the moment im fishing lots for the carp on cobbets as catfishing has slowed down.
Many thanks my friend! I do intend to give cats a go next year and I hope you’re having some success on Cobbetts - it can be moody in my experience experience but plenty of biggies in there 👍🐟
Wow! What a treat to watch. Such a wealth of wonderful wildlife . I think I'd be too busy watching all the birds and animals to bother with fishing . Wouldn't fancy bivvying up on the banks of that river !! Was always my dream to go to Africa, but at least its accessible to see online now . Really enjoyed watching . Thanks for the incredible footage and Tight Lines
My pleasure as always and, yep, bivvying up in that spot not advisable 😆🤯 We were staying in a big safari tent and the noises you could hear at night were incredible! Hyenas, baboons, insects… 😧
What an amazing experience it must have been to be in that majestic environment.. Surely something to remember always.. Thanks for sharing this and I might have a whip round to send Abu some new line for his reels ! ;o) Thanks Paul.
What an amazing place, i thought you were on ya hols up north John, not quite the same..😊 Great vid by the way.👏 It's all those crazy sounds that did it for me.. P.s Croc's are my favourite animal..😊👍
I had no idea! Or are you referring to those big Thames ‘crocodiles’? 🤔 Glad you enjoyed it and, yep, it made a change to North Yorkshire, where Rachel and I had a holiday not that long ago 😄 You’ll.be pleased to hear I was back on your beloved Thames today and had a cracking time with Neil ‘Nelly’ Wayte 🎣🐟 Can’t be sure, but that might hit YT next Friday for your viewing pleasure 👍 Hope you’re on the mend - and back on the bank - before long.
Ahhh thanks, that makes all the ‘effort’ (editing, not the holiday!) worthwhile. Really appreciate the feedback and it was one of those rare, dream trips where it felt like there was a special view or scene almost everywhere I pointed my phone! No need for professional lenses and SLR cameras. We were blown away by how close we got to some of the animals and the action - they apparently see the big Land Rovers as just another large animal in the bush. Perhaps unsurprisingly, our guide explained that there is still some licensed hunting going on in a game reserve over the hills from where we were - and the animals there behave very differently!
@themagicoffishing appreciate you taking the time to reply to my comment considering all the other ones you have replied to so far! Just another reason why we love your channel and content. This channel is going to continue to grow at a fast rate because of your likability and true nature. Keep up the great work, and we look forward to your next adventure!
I truly am, Andy. Cannot argue with that assessment and, believe me, I was well aware of it all week. An incredible experience and it’s been a pleasure to share it with you and the community. Tight lines if you’re heading out this weekend and let me know how you get on… 🎣🐟👍
Now thats adventure, great great video, excellent music, majestic, well done John, wonderful job, must have a trip out next year mate, all the very best...Clive.
Thanks ☺️ Yep, I actually felt a bit queasy and went a bit white while watching the lion kill as the young buffalo was still alive and calling out for quite some time. Eaten alive… That’s nature as you say.
Great video. A pleasant change from the November weather here. Good to see you take your Wife out with you. Very nicely edited and seeing the wildlife and the brutality of nature Every animal has to eat.
So true John. As I mentioned in a reply to another comment, I’m not ashamed to say I went a bit white as we watched the lions feast on the buffalo, as it was eaten alive for at least a minute or two and I hate to see animal suffering, but it’s nature and goes ob every day of course. I was also feeling for one of the female lions who wasn’t allowed near the kill and the guide said it may not last much longer but, again, it’s survival of the fittest! It was specious to see it all in a national park with no fences and no interference from humankind. I’ll be back on YT next Friday with something a bit more ‘normal’ and hope you’re well.
Good afternoon Mr Attenborough! That footage of the lions stalking the bison was awesome John. I was watching a kingfisher on marsh farm Wednesday, he certainly caught more than me & Pagey. 😂 Great stuff, more memory fodder.
Haha 😂 Good to hear from you as always - have you had the surgery yet?? I can’t remember when it was due. Glad to hear you’ve been out and about either way 🎣😎👍 It was definitely more for the memory folder.
Surgery should be 1st week in December. Marsh farm Wednesday, got double figures perch & roach, we did Compass yesterday & I hit the jackpot, 50 perch, roach & gudgeon. The whole lot would've weighed in around 7-8lb, so nothing huge, but great days sport.
Well.. i didn't expect that!! Incredible.. :) What an experience. Great footage of the animals.. Hippos, Lions and Crocs.. wowzers. Glad you managed a bit of fishing too.. even if it was dangerous for you!! lol.. How very different there to the Uk.
Great to hear from someone else who understands how mind blowing it is to be there - it’s already feeling like a dream! Thanks for the kind words on the vid too 🙏
This is absolutely stunning, but for now, i am happy being a "little Britainer" on the banks of the avon as i just bought the incredibly comfortable (and same model as yours) korum S23 super deluxe chair ! Joking aside, the older i get, the more videos like this make me want to see the world and experience fishing for different species. (There isn't an angler alive that can go on holiday without a rod and reel !) PS. Seeing the hippos and crocs makes me a lot less intimidated by moody swans now 😂
Well that was a nice surprise John, very brave of you to go livebaiting for Crocs!!ha ha, not the place to try out a new pair of waders eh. I think I would have been wearing trainers instead of flip flops to give you at least a chance of outrunning the wildlife!!. What a continent Africa is not just for the animals, but I hope you got to see a few great sunsets with your wife, good to hear her laughing at the hippos!!. Great fun, thanks for posting, at least you don't have to be scared next time fishing the river Wey, unless a big pike chases you up the bank. Happy holidays,Cheers Peter.
Thanks but no thanks John, amazing as the wildlife was, I consider fishing to be relaxing and I was a bit twitchy watching let alone standing by the side of the water with all those crocs and hippos nearby 😂. Lucky you though it looked like an amazing place and your photography was once again top drawer. 👍
What an amazing part of the World John. You may well have inspired me to visit somewhere south of Benidorm ! How the hell did you manage to catch anything at all with that awful mono line they gave you? It was just a mass of coils! Great watch though. Andy
Been there , done that...I lived in Uganda. If any of you go to "exotic " places, then you need to check on the local nasties. I don't boat fish so....rule #1 Don't sit close to the waters edge...1meter ain't enough...and keep an eye out for disturbances close in...AND when bringing a fish in...be aware that crocs eat fish and will often chase a struggling fish into the bank.. and have a clear exit path...you really don't want to trip over your kit as you run! #2 If you go early morning fishing, make sure you have not set up on the hippos path back to the river or lake..they will just flatten you as they run in a straight line back to the water! #3 Its the little nasties that many forget. Most are aware of malaria and other insect borne diseases, but few seem to be aware of bilharzia...blood fluke... present in most East African rivers and lakes...they drill. straight through the skin and live in the blood vessels around the gut and make a mess. Apart from that I enjoyed my fishing there!
@@themagicoffishing Thanks....in your video you witnessed a croc attack....damn scary. I fished Lake Mburo where crocs are supposedly extirpated and had one about 9' chase a tilapia I had hooked up the bank..I need a change in underwear...but luckily it stopped when it got the fish BUT if it had been after me, it would have got me!
Well the only hippo you will see tomorrow will be walking its dog.Crocs will definitly feature at some point taking our roach and yes the kingfishers will be up and down the river all day.
Thanks for the cheeky holiday upload. I’ve visited Kenya a few times whilst serving in the army. Certainly cannot beat it for the wildlife. 🎣🎣🎣

Many thanks, David! A bit different to the norm, but after capturing all that crazy footage I felt I HAD to share it with the community 👍🦁

@themagicoffishing I enjoy watching your channel regularly & am a subscriber. I'll be trying for chub on the Nidd in Yorkshire this weekend.
That was one amazing video. Absolutely brilliant. Seeing all that wonderful widlife up close is really cool.

I stand corrected Pat. I bet the lions couldn't tell the difference....

That fishing line lol you have to feel thats all aprt of this amazing country, think your brave there, but wow amazing.
Haha, I know, Clive! I’ve used better… 😆
Amazing wildlife! I would have been terrified of the crocs and hippos!
Oh don’t worry, Harry, me too! Most nervous I’ve ever felt while fishing! 🎣
Bloody brilliant outstanding footage . In a place like that the fishing must have been a bonus . Been to kenya but the wild life doesnt touch Tanzania
Thanks 🙏 I couldn’t believe what we were seeing half the time 😮
Hi John, stunning vid, we did Masai Mara in February, incredible, yu keep pinching yourself. Very brave session BTW
