  • In South America, the Atacama Desert is the most arid desert on the planet: in some places, not a single drop of rain has fallen for 500 years. In these extreme conditions, life is limited to the absolute minimum and is organized around the little water that is available.
However, this hostile desert is very rich in minerals, and still attracts mankind. Mines and large coastal cities have taken over precious water resources. Small communities and fragile ecosystems are the first to be affected by this.
To confront this menace, scientists are actively trying to understand water, manage this resource and save the last oases. From the smallest forms of life to the largest industries, each one now finds themselves… searching for water.
