Gotta give russia credit where its due. All we ever hear about is the western side. We need to know what happened on the eastern side. Wargaming provides that even if its little. Keep it up wargaming.
Russia was biggest and most important republic in Soviet Union but not the only one. This story is about Soviet Georgian hero. So give credit not to Russia alone, but the whole Soviet Union.
You can say what you want about the Russians (and Soviets)...they were hard men and had balls or steel. I'm a US Marine and the treatment their forces get make what we go through seem almost gentile. What they lack in cash and high tech gear they make up for in balls and aggression. I studied them from the time I was in the Marines in 87 until now and they're a fearsome adversary. Especially the way they have adapted to asymmetric warfare (Ukraine and Crimea as well as Syria). I am always impressed when I study WWII Soviet battles like Kursk etc where the Soviet Infantry and tanks had no regard for their own lives once in the attack.
The didn't just fight well on home soil. They fought well in Poland, Czechoslovakia, all 3 Baltic Nations, Yugoslavia, Germany, China and Germany. Their ferocity has nothing to do with the home soil...many armies get annihilated on their own soil with superior numbers on their side (Germany to France that same war, Germany to Poland and Czechs etc. Fighting on home turf does give some bonus to morale but mostly it just adds to local knowledge of terrain and better supply.
The Russians are a dangerous opponent because they don't value human life. Yours or theirs. The "State" places absolutely no value on human life, survival of troops or protection or comfort. This casual attitude to death is passed all the way down to the lowest private. That is a tough thing. To fight a person who places no value on their own life and gives no consideration to survival...accepting your own death as if it already happened. That's what makes them scary.
If so you should all so see accounts of Japanese troops in WWII. As one British Generals put it: "If any of the Western army have the Japanese mentality in fighting, they would be an stoppable". I read it in a book, I don't recall the title, but I do have it.
The US and IJN forces both underestimated each other. Japanese forces had excellent fighting spirit and aggression. So much so that one of their weakness was they believed they were unbeatable and took on to many adversaries at one time. The US also very much underestimated how difficult it would be to fight Japanese physically as infantry..hand to hand and in close combat. Racist views that the Japanese were Night blind..couldn't see or were unintelligent...tiny and weak etc. US infantry were taught this as fact ...and were woefully under prepared to face an onslaught of highly trained, well equipped veterans with entire units that specialized in things like Night Fighting. Interesting.
I'd rather not have my Ognevoi tip over and sink because a wave was too big- that thing is a big enough piece of shit as it is. Doesn't need wave mechanics nerfing it.
Lol the Japanese destroyers and cruisers will probably have a harder time. 4th fleet incident anybody? They are already top heavy to begin with. Then we have the Pensacola which is also top heavy
ognevoi are amazing mate you just need to used it gun mostly and some time find a lone bb charge him and torp him + if you find a cruiser showing his side for you used ap you will get citadel all the time if he show his side
Dear World of Warships Channel I have noticed that, in your series of Naval Legend, there is no mention of the USS Enterprise CV-6. I bring this up to you as I see many request for a long time for this particular ship. I believe, and imagine many are agreed, that the Enterprise unarguably belong to a club of legendary warships of all time. The accomplishment she and her crews were able to make coupled with the fact that her very own name is still being used by the US Navy should deserve to be mentioned. If you are not aware of the existent of the USS Enterprise, I would recommend you look it up. I find it hard to think that, as her and her crews are gone, people forget what the Enterprise once did. With the fact that many of Sci-Fi loving fans have not realized that the star trek USS Enterprise is named in honor of the USS Enterprise CV-6, her legend may in danger of being forgotten. Thank you for reading this message. I very much believe you will find countless interesting and amazing facts once you research about the Enterprise. From: Someone who doesn't want the greatest aircraft carrier of history to be truly gone.
Rory Black When was the last time you heard anything of the Russian Navy's exploits though (besides that one time they fought Japan's navy)? Most of Russia's combat is land- and air-based. I don't recall the navy being too active even after WW2 happened.
New premium consumable
When ship is below 10% HP, have man with axe chop off bow to gain 20% HP
owh, LOL
logic 100
Doesn't matter what country you're from. Doing what that man did to save his ship was an impressive feat.

There are cyclones, witch are close to storms

Great work on those stories! I'd be interested in hearing a german one.
Wow. That was beautiful artwork.

yes but hpw about the middle? I mean the Side of Germany(or here the 3rd Reich) Italy and the other member of the Axis?
+Jean Luh why give the enemy credit?
+EnderDan it's not giving the enemy credit. It's making sure all sides of history are heard.
MoA-Reload... thank you
A herculean effort at sea. A heroes death. We should all remember for what we fight.

Yes most armed forces are fearless when fighting on their own soil protecting the motherland from invasion.

are we ever going to get huge waves in wows

+ yamato they did fix all the ship aftert he 4th fleet incident by adding topedo bugged and streng the hull
ognevoi are amazing mate you just need to used it gun mostly and some time find a lone bb charge him and torp him + if you find a cruiser showing his side for you used ap you will get citadel all the time if he show his side
inoue jerry The ships were still top heavy regardless. They weren't as top heavy though. Most of the destroyer post-treaty were fine however.
great video i hope WG will add those waves effect to the game
make more of "head over keels"!!
I got reallly excited when I saw choppy seas I thought they were going to implement them into the game :(
excellent story !!!!!!
Choppy seas and this involves an axe... Gg puns
tbh i kinda expected him to knock the shells off the deck.
Chopping off the bow of a destroyer with an ax? Completely plausible. Paul Bunyon of the Russian Navy.
The bow was broken by the air bomb. He used the axe to chop the metal pieces holding the bow structure to the rest of the hull.
Great Story
+World of Warships I'd like to read up on this story. How do spell the name of the sailor and the ship?
Pretty impressive story
sigh....for a moment i thought we r finally having new sea animations -_-
Same.... but the story was cool tho.
+DeltagodAndFriends true that...
Please make comic book gamemode it looks so cool.
yes! mpre!
EPIC!
Fucking awesome.

Wait, the Russian Navy actually did something in the second World War? Huh.
that is honestly like saying "so the Americans participated in the dday landings? huh."
