- My newest cover is "Saulė Nusileido," an old Lithuanian folk song. My grandma Irene was the daughter of Lithuanian immigrants to the US, and spoke Lithuanian and English. My dad spoke some Lithuanian (or Lithuanenglish) too as a kid. My sister and I only know a few words, but for what it's worth, Grandma Irene always told us our pronunciation was perfect. In 2020 she asked me to sing this song at my grandpa's funeral. She requested that I perform it at her funeral too when the time came, which I did for her in 2023. The piano part you hear on the recording is the same that I played that day. I hope that you enjoy it. I hope that she does too.

(🇱🇹) Mano naujausias koveris - „Saulė Nusileido“, sena lietuvių liaudies daina. Mano senelė Irena buvo emigrantų iš Lietuvos į JAV dukra, kalbėjo lietuviškai ir angliškai. Mano tėtis vaikystėje taip pat šiek tiek kalbėjo lietuviškai (arba Lietuvangliškai). Mes su seserimi mokame tik kelis žodžius, tačiau mūsų močiutė Irena visada sakydavo, kad mūsų tarimas puikus. 2020 metais ji paprašė manęs padainuoti šią dainą per senelio laidotuves. Atėjus laikui, ji paprašė, kad aš taip pat šią dainą atlikčiau ir per jos laidotuves, ką ir padariau 2023 metais. Įraše girdima pianino partija yra ta pati, kurią tą dieną grojau. Tikiuosi, kad jums mano koveris patiks. Tikiuosi, kad ir jai patiks.

My grandmas name was also Irene. She was my hero, an absolute angel, and I miss her dearly. I would give anything to have her laugh with my wife and meet my children. This was a lovely song and brought up some wonderful memories.

I also have Lithuanian ancestry through my great-grandfather. However, the entire family was murdered by the Russians in 1939.

Lithuanian has always interested me, since it is considered to be the oldest surviving Indo-European language, containg features believed to have been present in the early stages of the Proto-Indo-European language. Anne usually surprises, never disappoints. Although I'm an American of Irish descent, I appreciate many legitimate folk songs of various countries. This is a real pleasant song that Ms Reburn magnificently performs.

ALSO...since performers are always looking for ways to increase views, what if this is it for you (Ms. Reburn)? What if performing these kinds of traditional songs (with historical/cultural context) is the next thing to generate clicks? You may need a seprate channel for it, but you'd be soooo good at it.

Thank you for your emotional personal story! I know you many years and I had no Idea that you have some lithuanian origin. That's great in America we can find all the nations melted to one.
I'd like to tell my own story about my grandfather Alexey. He was in Lithuania in 1944. And I want to say he was atheist all his life long. When he dead in his 93 years old in 2016 another relatives decided to make classic orthodox christian ceremony, but I tell them some antireligion jokes. They was confused but I know he was happy ho see their faces.

I have Lithuanian ancestry through my father's family line, but I know nothing of the culture. My great-great grandfather immigrated to upstate New York from Lithuania, and his sons (including my great grandfather) owned an apple orchard together. My great grandfather died before I was born. My grandfather was a jerk who was mostly absent from my dad's life when he was growing up, and I barely knew him, so I never really got to experience any "Lithuanian-ness" when I was growing up.
