this time I fear I disagree with your recommendation. RT is by far not smart enough to detect most of my distraction - and how should it?
When I‘m on RUclips checking the last DottoTech video, it's highly productive, because maybe tomorrow I‘d recycle the content for Heise RegioConcept. But the next minute, still on RUclips, I decide to be perfectly distractive looking for a new series of Air Crash Investigation. Same with Email, same with WordPress (where RT doesn't even distinguish between my professional Blog and the one I'm running for a citizen's initiative) - and so on.
You are right, I could rate this stuff as more or less neutral. But then I am on wobbly ground again in spite of all these to the split second data, and I have to rely on my remorses… ;-)

Very interesting and useful tool for folks that make their living off the computer. However, because of the self-adjusting activity ratings even the non-business folks can rate themselves at how productive they are at doing what they like to on their desktops. . . if ya get what I mean??

What if something is partly productive and partly not? You said Blab was "sort-of distracting" but can you define it as say 60% productive/40% distracting?

And what if I watch something on youtube but not from youtube page, it would be from some learning website that pastes youtube learning video there. Does rescuetime consider that just as that second website or it tracks youtube videos on other sites as well?
Could you configure specific things and let RescueTime learn about your activity?
For example - If I'm using youtube to learn, but also for watching cat videos.
I want teach Rescue Time that he could know whenever Im using youtube for productivity activity and whenever I'm not.

And maybe I'm too daydreaming, but what about teaching rescue time to know when you're talking with people in whatsapp desktop application / on mobile that those specifics people are related to your business somehow, or you're just developing with them some new ideas which you want to configure as 'productivity' and not 'distrusting'
The only problem I have with this app is that it bases and judges my productivity only on my time on the internet. As a student a good chunk of my time being productive is outside of my laptop or using an app that doesn't require the internet like Word or Powerpoint, etc. So I feel like this works best for working adults who are on the internet for most things that they're doing.
I believe now it also tracks the time you spend away from the computer/internet. You kinda logout and when you go back in you let it know what you were doing and it logs it..

I think the idea of this app is really good and it seems to work pretty well, but we live in 2016 and people are more and more aware of all kinds of spying of your computer and this seems to be the nightmare of anyone working in IT Security.

Yeap, but if someone found a way to get into this program with malicious intent, he could be spying anything the user does.
+Kerkkoh Frost If somebody has enough access to your computer to hack a monitoring program, then they probably have enough access to install their own keylogger or a spy program. If done properly I don't think that it will introduce ane security flaws. But if you're using windows, then pretty much you have little security to begin with, if you are unlucky to open some shady binary.

Hey mister.. How you explain from your point of view.. what a productive day means to you.. what's your angle on "productive" word from your point of view? And more important "what "productive" represent for you in day by day life..you know there are a lot of "productive" means for this word right?
I think it's hilarious that one of the testimonials on the site is from Reddit- the ultimate timewaster.
Thanks to you I have been using this app from quite some time and I really like it. But I do have some problems configuring it. The app says I'm spending much time on youtube. It is right though, but I watch a lot of educational videos in addition to entertainment videos. Is there a way to categorize the channels I'm browsing. I need to differentiate between educational videos and entertainment videos, so that I can track my productivity. Thanks for your help.
You can go to settings and categorize activities to set a different value on RUclips or any activity.

I have watched you vids when ever I was looking for good ways to use evernote a while ago and your channel was always the best resource and they were pretty good. So I came back, I was surprised to see your channel is not a little bigger but anyway, I was wondering if you have any good ideas of how to organize youtube comments because you cant really see them on youtube because they just disaprea from the notification box which is disappointing. Also if I leave a comment on a video there is no way at all to find it unless I go back to the video.. I dont know why youtube wouldn't just have a place to see all comments or diologs but.. Bookmarking every time I make a comment would be dumb and I wouldnt mind all this if the email they sent was worth anything.. It would be great if when they youtube sent you an email saying someone replied to your comment they actually showed the whole dialog! but they dont!? its like they force you to just go back to the video like they want that... why not just put what I said above it? instead they put it in the title so there is only like 7 of the first words?!?
Sorry this is so long but you were the first person I thought to ask. I know this must be a common problem it seems and everyone has hated G+ since it first started. But it just seems like it should be so easy to fix like an IFTT formula to save to ever note the diolge and you tube link or something.... So I am on a quest to find the answer I would love to hear your thought and keep up the good productivity vids!
+Chris Rico Comments is a very weak area with RUclips, it was improving as the integrated it into Google+ but that is all going away now.
All I can say is wait and see, as we are all doing and hope RUclips gets their act together and beefs it up!
