Hey everyone thank you so much for over 8K views and all your kind words, These videos are a pretty huge undertaking but all of your support really makes it worthwhile! Thanks so much for helping the channel grow, Liking commenting, and subscribing really helps to make the algorithm take notice. Keep your eyes peeled for a new upload coming soon! 😉 Thanks again Dan ❤️
I'm not sure what to say. The depth of this video was completely breathtaking. Brawl is my favourite smash game. The sheer variety of things to do, as well as Subspace Emissary having an amazing atmosphere, allowed brawl to hold a special place in my heart. The community, at least the non competitive part of it, was at it's height during this time (imo at least). The soulful fanart really captured the mood of the times, my favourite being when occasionally a piece of art would make it's way out of japan and everyone in the west would latch onto it and post it everywhere. Good job on this documentary. It's really tapped into my nostalgia.
Thank you for watching and for the comment too, I'm really glad you enjoyed the video 😀. I honestly feel like brawl is such an underappreciated part of the series, I remember the general community online was so wholesome and everyone just seemed so hyped and positive around the game. The sheer amount of content and subspace is still mind-blowing to me, I don't think we'll see another smash with as much as brawl managed to pack in.
If you complete the game with every character without taking any damage and without jumping or attacking it unlocks a secret character called John McClane who has an infinite damage limit and can't be knocked off
Brawl was the first smash game I ever played, and it was the game that introduced me to characters like Snake Samus and Captain Falcon, me and my brother spent days playing through the Subspace Emissary, and spent even more time with friends and family playing local multiplayer, as a kid who was also a Nintendo fan this truly was the best game to have at the time, and it's so weird to think how many things were introduced in this game that would go on to become smash norms, this game has had and always will have a special place in my heart, thank you for making this video talking about one of my favorite games of all time
wow, that bit about meteos seriously blew my mind. i logged countless hours into that game as a kid, and knowing sakurai was involved deepens my appreciation for both him and the game
Hey thanks for watching! Yes I had no idea Sakurai either before researching for this script. Meteos really is quite underrated, sadly I didn't buy it when it first came out but when I finally got around to playing it, I really got hooked! I would love to see it remastered/re-released like Lumines has been
Thank you so much man, I really appreciate it! It's hard as a small channel trying to get my stuff out there but knowing people are finding and enjoying it really drives me to keep making content for the channel
I’m back two months later and I’m still absolutely saddened to see it never even passed 5k views like what the hell. An hour and a half video of this quality, barely viewed. It makes me really angry. This video deserved so much more. It’s a masterpiece.
Hey Mike, thanks for dropping back in, and thanks for the kind words too I really apricate your continued support a lot! It's really tough building an audience and getting your stuff out there, as a small channel but recently it has been growing at a steady pace. While it's tough balancing, life work, and the channel, Knowing that people are actually still enjoying these videos really helps to keep me motivated and on track to make more content! I'm aiming to hit 1K subs this year and I'm going to work hard to get as much content out as possible! Thanks again man, I hope you're having a good year so far!
Discovered your channel via recommendations looking for background noise for when I was writing up some papers for college. Brawl is arguably among my top 10 games of all time - and I have played well over 400 games - and seeing people discuss it always makes me excited. Your documentary was entertaining, got me through my paper, and really hit the nail on everything you covered; there were some things I felt like you could have dived a bit deeper on like certain mechanics or more depth on the competitive scene, but those do not take away from the greatness that was this video. Cannot wait for Smash 4.
Thanks for the kind words Henry, It really made my day hearing that you enjoyed the video, and that it helped you get through your paper. I've got a new complete history close to finished. It's a different subject from smash, as at the moment I felt like I needed to let the dust settle around some things with the smash 4 competitive scene that I wasn't sure how I'm going to approach. But as soon as that's uploaded I'll be straight back on finishing the smash 4 script. Thanks again for watching and good luck with your studies! Dan
It's an absolute crime that your channel doesn't get anywhere near enough recognition, you're a brilliant storyteller in these documentaries and your editing is enviously fantastic. Keep it up man, this is unbelievably impressive for such a small channel.
Thanks so much man, you've really made my day! A lot of work goes into these videos and commets like these really make it all worth the effort. Thanks again for watching and commenting, I'll do my best to keep the videos coming 👍 Dan
Hey thanks for watching! Yes I'll definitely be covering smash 4 and ultimate, in fact I'm actually quite deep into the edit of the smash 4 video right now 👀...
Just a personal critique, I feel that the character and stage sections could've been kept more concise. If someone is willing to watch an hour and a half long documentary on a game, they likely already know surface level information such as the character's moves, and what the stages are like. However, I do really appreciate the presentation overall. The quality really stands out.
Hey thanks for watching and thanks for the feedback, it's really appreciated. 😀 Yeah I definitely agree with you there, I had a few people asking to go into more detail on the characters and stages. But in retrospect, I definitely went overboard here 😅. In the next script I’ve reduced down the detail to just include what feels relievent. Thanks again for watching!
Thanks so much man! as a small channel, it's hard to get the word out so that would definitely help out. I'm really glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching and commenting, I really appreciate it, and it really does motivate me to continue making videos for the channel
Thanks for watching, really appericate the support! Yes I have a quite a lot of sereis that I would like to cover with the Complete History series and few other smaller ideas I'd like to make once I've covered all of smash and the playstation consoles
Thanks so much, really glad you enjoyed the videos. I'm currently recording and editing the smash 4 video, so hopefully I can get it finished in the near future. Thanks again! 😀
Honestly the amount of attention this video has received doest seems to match the quality. It's such an amazing well-made video and its such a shame that the algorithm didn't really bless it

It's ironic that both the Nintendo 64 and Gamecube were more powerful video game consoles than both the PS1 and PS2 meanwhile both Playstation consoles outsold both NIntendo consoles irony at its finest
I just looked up to see this game is Vindicated by History. Why was it vindicated the first time it came out? The first time I remember I played Melee before I played this and I heard this game has a lot of flaws in terms of gameplay. But I don’t remember having problems with the gameplay considering I played it on my GameCube controller. I honestly find this game to be the best Smash game in the series.
Until Ultimate came out I thought Brawl was the best game in the series and still see it as the second best game over Melee. The final smashes were fun as hell, Subspace is an amazing idea that should be brought back, and so many of my favorite charachters were introduced here. I also really appreciate that Sakurai wanted this to be as accessible as possible, fighting games so often have stupidly high learning curves and it can really chase away new players. Competitive players not learning how to restrain themselves for newcomers also does'nt help. Melee was a good game but it's clear it gave more hardcore players the edge whle the newcomers or casual gamers fell behind a bit. Brawl made things fun and fair for everyone yeah a charachter like Meta knight became brokem but you still had all your options to beat him.
Fuck those days man, Ive had memories of beating a Marth with Mario in tourney only for them to switch to MK. Hated MK, I miss Allisbrawl though, wish it was archived
