Played with a balaclava style recently and got shot by a 1,5J AEG from 6m distance. Looked like a bright pimple on my cheek for 2 weeks 😱😭 But full balaclava felt very good on my bold head on a really hot day. Will look for full balaclava with added cheek protection and get 2 for summer game days.
I have been running a normal balaclava for a while under the pb mask. The fabric layer reduces those hard impact lacerations, protects the neck and keep sweat from running down your face. So the full balaclava with protection is a really useful product!
Same here. I stopped playing half face baclava after being shot so badly at my exposed nose that is looked liked being broken... I now play with half mesh masks only...attached them to my helmet with flexible straps so they do hang lose and comfy...best option for me so far. Regarding eye protection: I would NEVER risk to use such "normal" sunglas-style ones. I am bound to Revolution Locust. They never fogged actually.
aren't they used by the US Military? I definitely read the name before. For me the glasses style is totally perfect and efficient. Also we do not have a full seal mandatory thing here in Germany. For me its ok as they bend around quite a bit at the edge of the eye. But I tell you sometimes I actually have to touch my glasses to see if I am really wearing them, as they are so good.
Paintball masks don't prevent fogging by being "all in one" they prevent it by having a dual lens that prevents moisture from your breath to condensating. Begadi has googles that have that same lens for just 50 euro.
Nice video Phoenix! One important issue with sliding a mesh cutout into a normal balaclava: YOU CAN STILL GET YOUR TEETH SHOT OUT! If you have your mouth full open it will be pressed so close to your teeth that if its hit at the right angle enough energy will be transfered. Happend to my teammate recently 500€ dentist bill and a wasted 2h trip. Please pin!
I have the B2tac balaclava and its the most comfy i've ever tried. I wear it under my nose but for me it is not a big deal to get hit on the cheeks or nose so I gladly trade that exposure for a bit of extra comfort.
Half mesh mask, I use one with ear protecction (EAR protection included is unconfortable) and works great... If your using a cap you can set the straps un top of the cap... If your using a bonnie you have to use it under the hat.
You're worried for bb's hitting your ear area, but are you not worried for BB's shooting directly into your nose? I'm really afraid of this so I always wear mesh masks :)
Honestly I finally gave up on trying to mix and match helmet to eye to face to ear protection and bought a WarQ helmet. It has been amazing and my problem of fogging is 100% gone
I would totaly add the fortis and venom mask from nb-tactical. The are a different system and are used in combination with a normal balaclava or neck gaiter. They are very low vis, comfy and don't interfere while aiming. I prefer them over my valhalla mask. They over more face protection with not much more drawback compared the valhalla mask.
I used Valhalla Mask and I loved it. 5-6 games everythings perfect. Suddenly 7h game 3 hard shots in the face. 8th game another shot. 9th another one in the forehead. Now I look like domestic violence victim. This holes heals pretty long and small scars will probably stay forever. Now I don't know what to do because mesh mask fogs a lot (I wear glasses) and dye mask is not an option. I rather stop playing airosoft than look like a fu**** speedsofter.
Great video. I've played about 4 years now going into my 5th I figured it was time to upgrade the mask. I'm kind of gotten to the minimalist with my gear. I'm former active duty Marine so I am used to wearing gear but nothing on my face so when I play Airsoft with my kids it drives me nuts but I KNOW you have to use teeth and eye gear. Was actually considering making something like the half baklava but I see it's already made and with very breathable material. That's huge because I run hot and sweat a lot. I did the Mesh mask with my Pit Viper Combo. It does really well but STILL fogs occasionally. I think this may be the ticket. TY!
Thanks for the video, the major dislike for me with the old school covers is that I cannot look down. I'm a big lad and a big head. I also run a admin pouch I have to reload purely by feel. Never have I been so annoyed 😂. The balaclava style is on the next purchase me thinks
Thanks Kindly Mr Phoenix! Just had my tooth shot out, didn’t hurt but am now reviewing my life choices! It will be sorted but £300 - £400 is more than a little painful! You didn’t mention Gas Masks! They are cumbersome, but my British S10, with upgraded Airsoft safe lenses works really well and never fogs, like Dye Masks cos of the Orinasal sections I think, but I need something a bit more user friendly and after watching this guide, I’m looking up Cygnus Armory on t’internet! Thanks a million Sir!
Why can't companies just design something low profile that doesn't hinder you aiming down sights and is low profile enough to be worn under a balaclava that doesn't kill the immersion of your loadout?
I use prescription glasses and just got into airsoft with my nephew to play with him and be more active myself in process. Dont have alot of available funds to buy a 200$ full mask on a dime looking to find a good goggle and mask setup with ear protection that somewhere like amazon might have on stock.. Can you help me
The reason of one of the reasons that the mesh mask goes down farther than you prefer is incase a bb deflects off your gear and goes up under the mask and chips a tooth - yes ive seen it happen with both dye masks and short mesh masks.
This 2 mask the valhalla mask and b2tac mask is very cheapest and china made airsoft mask the Cygnos Armory is the best 100% made in Germany and Lonestar Tactical is the best 100% made in UK next time try and buy the Spec Ops Sierra Mask from the Lonestar Tactical Gear
When ever I think about changing my protection the downside of the other one will be provided like with my helmet 🪖 I was thinking about changing it to a hat but then I hit my head and with my mask I thought about changing it so that the mask is like a balaclava but I got hit in the cheek
Very helpful! Thank you. I've been going between the valhalla and the cygnus. Have you seen much stretching out of the valhalla mask? I've been considering their new loki mask that offers nose protection as well, but I don't want it slipping down on me!
Hey mango, Not at all. Once they are on they stay on - speaking for both masks! The only time they might slip on you is if you take your headwear on and off. For me usually my boonie at the end of the round. so thats ok!
What do you mean exactly? Knuckle protection on your gloves? They never take all the pain away but for sure better than being hit with a BB without any.
:-) LG
Hey dude, I actually have the exfog system laying in my clauset but I could never use it. For filming the fan frequency gets picked up by the GoPro and the footage is unusable. Though its a great tip for other players - totally forgot that so thank you for pointing it out! Did you get problems ever with dry eyes?
I’ve never had dry eyes yet!!!… in my videos My GoPro picks up the ExFog fan sound as well but you can adjust the sound pick up sensitivity on the GoPro/reduce background noise. Try that once, works for me. (Hero 7 white)
Face Masks & Protection I forgot about in the video (pls add):
- The @brainexploder : The Essentials Face Protection
- WarQ Helmet
- ExFog System
I have always hated the whole mesh face mask, so those balaclavas with the little metal mesh look awesome!! I might get one!!
You should! one system and go!
Honestly the full face mesh masks or very comfortable

My favorite Airsoft vlogger ❤️ but seriously dye or nothing 😤
Yes sir
watch the gogles of mask sulutions thats works also like a dye :)
Dye’s are too expensive for just a mask. So I just rely on my good look , Eye or nothing I always say.

Hey @Hammy that sounds horrible and you are right. For those crazy unpredictable moments we have to be prepared but deffo sucks for your teammate!
Valhalla masks should have sponsored this video lol, You sold it so well I decided to buy 2 of them in green and tan!

Modified is the only way to go..a little arts and crafts skill goes a long way.
Pro tip: if you buy a Tigris one mesh mask you can hold it against your face with a tight face wrap. I only recommend with anti fog eye pro.
@@jakesilva1640 Anti fog sprays work with this or u mean ventilated masks?
For your problem with the half mesh masks being too long one Tigris make a shorter 4.5 inch version as well as the big 6 inch version

Hahaha that’s funny but totally ok. No I’m not worried at all about my nose. Got shot there before and it does look a bit like a big red pimple haha
Just got shot in the nose today. Took off the full face pro to try goggles and a fleece face mask and ate it almost immediately
Honestly I finally gave up on trying to mix and match helmet to eye to face to ear protection and bought a WarQ helmet. It has been amazing and my problem of fogging is 100% gone
True I forgot to incorporate that into the video. though I have to say I do not like the look. I would just go with a paintball mask at that point or?
That helmet chinstrap is a clever idea.
Just bought a Cygnus Armory face warrior using your code. Looking forward to trying it out. 🤙🏽
Thanks dude! I hope you like it
balaclava with a dye mask. I play outside in sub freezing temps, walking inside and outside constantly. I can't fog my mask if I try to.

The cloth alone will not! protect your teeth. Make sure to get something if you want more protection

Imagine sacrificing the nose for no fog. Why not just buy a defogger and stick to the mesh mask that protects the nose as well

Could you do a review of the brain exploders "the essentials" face protection
I actually do not own one :) But I bet its great. I use some of his products in every game!
makes it easy to look through a red dot? scope? am i supposed to have those?
It’s absolutely no problem with the masks to look through red dots or even scopes. That’s why I love them!
