This to me feels like moments the day after an all nighter obsessedly taking photos of myself, or my friends and I if we were at a party, but really of myself, being in a bubble, feeling high and grand but unrelatable to others... creating quite superficial art (not derigatoraily meant), but the art here is copying other art, in a way that is kind of pretentious and does not fit with the song itself in a way, except that fame may be a drug, or identity, tripping on oneself and being the centerpiece, which we all are in our own lives (we are our lives), but where self expression and this “art-identity” in this way becomes more important than connection to others and if they can still relate to you. This feels like when would be high on amphetamine or methamphetamine and would feel good, but still disconnected from for example my fiance, that is when I first really noticed it. Ending up in a bubble with friends, or on your own, is different. Using every day there would be days where we were sober but then when the meth was there again we used it and I immediately felt this disconnect between us, which after a couple of days becomes psychedelic. Also, the dopamine and feeling of grandeur it gives in one way, and insecurity and paranoia on the other hand. Maybe this identity-shaping and fame and all these things are like drugs too making us disconnect from other people, which can be okay, until I disconnected from the person I dont want to experience that with. Luckily, we are still together, he quit meth and I am so proud of him. I am not clean but its okay, found some other thing that works for me. At least throughout everything I learned that I want this connection more than anything. Before that it was also weed which kept me cocooned. Whether it is drugs, or the need for a persona to hide behind, or fame to achieve some sense of peace or self approval, I think maybe this thought is peculiar and very particular, but it’s like a disconnect from other people whatever the “dope” might be - alcohol, drugs, working too hard, feeling insecure and desiring fame and approval, being “someone” special, etc. Anyway I am a little high, but to me it makes sense. And I feel this song. I am so glad it doesn’t make me cry anymore because I didn’t lose my fiance to drugs, or myself, and we found ways to heal our relationship every time. I think we are both learning we are not always most important ourselves, and sometimes we are, and that our insecurities around each other are becoming less and we can take off this “artful” persona and not feel the fear to be exposed... like people exposing me as a junkie or whatever, also, with that I am at peace for I am functional in my own way and connected enough to my great love, and myself! Some semi random thoughts, might revisit.
