I am using the same front wing for wave surfing here in Cyprus. It is interesting to see your experience and compare it with mine. Thanks for the video!
Paddle in wave surfing in cyprus? I didnt know there where waves! I've recently tried to prone Foil it in cold hawaii and there it felt too big for waves :D
hello Leo thank you for the informative video after 5 month wait I finally received my 5.5' hipe V2 and 5sqm wing from Gong I have been going out regularly for the past week and on this Sunday I hope to get in my 5th session. I am 52 so the learning is more painful for me and I am actually practicing on a large windsurf board for now to get a better feel for the wing. Has it gotten any easier after 30 sessions are you more satisfied with the board and how it handles? I thought the same about the 145L board would be more stable but for now its punishing me. I look forward to your words of encouragement. All the best
Hello there, Training without the Foil to control the Wing first of all is a very good Idea! I've had quite a few sessions on the Longboard plus Wing and I felt way more comfortable on the Foil afterwords handling the Wing a bit more without it. The Board does definitely feel more controlled than on the first sessions. The only things I'm not satisfied with are 1. No possibility for a foot-strap in the back and 2. the Deck can be quite slippery. After all I'm pretty happy about the fact that it feels super instable, as its more fun once its up flying. But it took me quite some time to manage staying on it first of all, it takes some time until it stops punishing you:D Overall I still really like it and I'm even thinking about buying the V2 in a smaller size to give jumping and footstraps a go.
Thank you for sharing your experience! 🥰😍 I just started learning Wing Foiling a few days ago. As an advance windsurfer and intermediate kitesurfer, I thought it would be a piece of cake. But, I could not be more wrong!! I was able to foil for about 30-50 meter at a time ..that is when I can foil... 😵... But, it is so much fun and I am so hooked.. What are the size of foils and fuselage? and wind speed?
You're very welcome :) Everything is different on the Foil so no worries, it takes some time even if you're already quite god in other watersports... But once it works everybody loves it 😍 The Foil is 2100, Fusalage GONG standard size, 80 cm Mast, and somewhere about 20-25 kn of Wind. Keep on Foiling:)
Could the "flexible" less responsive mast feeling that described be caused by your inflatable board? I am assuming that your board is an inflatable (hard for me to tell on the video). I would think that the softer board would not translate all the foil feedback to you.
Yes its the GONG HIPE so inflatable, but it seems very stiff to me. It'll be interesting to see how much more Stiff it will get with the V2 Mast, than I can truly say if some of the "flexible" feeling comes from the Board as well :)
Wow. Respekt!!
Nice video, shore break is a bitch, it took out my brand new 6.5m slick the other week. I got sucked back in to the mix by a wave and me and the kit went for a tumble 🤦🏻♂️
Gulp, going out for my first wave session at fort pierce FL today. Coming from inland snow country weekend warrior style, gulp!
Everything's different in the ocean! Thx for the video!
Great to hear your experience of sea vs lake. Thanks!

Great stuff Leo. You're flying
Thanks Mate :)
Haste super beschrieben.

You give me hope. I'm on session 2, and I was starting to think all these videos are CGI
Feel u, it's quite hard in the beginning!
Nice video and info. a video about the v2 mast would be great too. Thx.
Keep up the good work 🏄🏼♂️👍
Thanks mate, I appreciate it!
Cool, congrats! :) You made it.
😇

very good for the first time on the ocean Arnold...(ha ha)
Thanks Mate!

You should invest in a V2 mast, it's way more stiffer. 😉

Can get quite frightening right... I'm still waiting for my Wing to be repaired ;(
