Boone's bullpen management has always been an Achilles heel - one of his many weaknesses. His instincts, his ability to evaluate what his pitchers are doing in the moment and react accordingly, are suboptimal at best. Which was not surprising his first few seasons, since he'd never managed before at any level before this job, but he hasn't improved one iota since then.
