I prefer to call from the field. It’s easier for me to get a feel for the game and the energy of my guys. A buddy of mine calls it from the box and refuses to call it any other way.
I been in the box the last couple years. It's nice but you can't communicate with your players as much as you like. The nice thing is you can so more Analytical from the box.
The ability to “chef” up plays as drivestarters on the sideline is underrated. Easier to do on the sideline. That’s why I like to huddle going into the field for each drive.
For me, I think if I have people who I trust and i know that they know their stuff I think I would be more comfertable with them up in the booth, but If I didn't I think I might be more comfortable if I was up in there. Ive never been a booth playcaller tho so id have to try it before I could definitivly say.
It definitely took me awhile to get comfortable. I know I call plays from the box...But being a "Spotter" can be tough if you don't have any input. Luckily I'm not in that situation.
I am totally blind, so I prefer calling plays from the field so I can communicate with my guys as much as I like. Still, I would trust the coaches in the booth to point out things I would not notice.

From the field, can look guys in the eye
My head coach at the previous school I was at actually called plays from the pressbox.
Interested in how that worked with game management, sideline decorum, discipline, etc.

We use Headsets and IPads to help make our adjustments. It's not really that hard to be honest.
