Having grown up in the predominantly black church and having a dad who slays the Hammond b3… I will tell you there is nothing like the jams and grooves that we would get into. Some of thee best musicians come out of the black church. Of course with the internet now people are sharing and you get to peak in and study us. It’s definitely something special.❤️❤️
Holy smokes, this man can CUT IT. I’m beyond inspired and humbled. I’ve got SO much to learn and watching how much fun he’s having playing that makes me so excited to learn it. I may not be a believer but when I listen to this you know I wanna throw my hands up and praise 🙏🙌
Best player in the world My Forever MD. Andrew Gouche gave me my first real gig I’m forever grateful he asked do you even have a keyboard? I was 17 and he trusted me to come through and handle such a giant gig and it made my ears open forever. Gouche the king of bass in my eyes..
@@ivancillovelazquez Wow, really that's pretty cool, would you mind sharing it with me? I have never written out something like that, or anything ever xD. I Just try learning stuff By ear
The amazement on Scott's face and his hilarity are so contagious !!! You see the musician to musician complicity and it feels just GREAT !!! That walking bass is DOPE! There should be a "don't try this at home warning" lol.
I’m not a gospel musician; but ALWAYS admired the bass players. Andrew has and ALWAYS amazes me with playing. Is there anyone else I need to listen to, please hit me up.😊
I've been really digging Sharay Reed. He's the bassist for Cory Henry & The Funk Apostles as well as lots of gospel stuff you can easily find on youtube: ruclips.net/video/pATcvr3zAhg/видео.html FYI, I'm not a gospel musician (or even a follower) either, but as a bassist there is so much you can learn from these guys.
I loved this video. The vibe is fantastic! What I noticed immediately, and then set the playback speed to 0.25 to catch this, is the so called "flying fingers". I would get so negative and down on myself for my own flying fingers and watched Scott's lessons on this to tame this issue. And I've practiced to reduce this. But when you watch a video like this and see the amazing technique, vibe, presence, and awesome sound, etc., etc., it's just makes me realize that it's not all absolutely vital to have "absolutely flawless" technique to be able to play amazing music in an amazing way! This video was just a huge encouragement to me! So called barriers are not necessarily barriers at all!! Thank you Andrew! God bless you!
My comments above are restricted to only the pinky and ring finger. None of my comments are meant to be negative at all. There's hope for my own freeting hand technique after all!
Mauro Caputi this man is a tremendous player, but please look elsewhere for a model for good technique. His fingers are definitely flying, which just slows you down and wastes energy. It can also impact your control. However WAY more importantly, his right hand is seriously bad. You are asking for a career-ending injury with such a severely bent wrist. I wish all the best for AG, and don't stop admiring his music...but he is not a good role model for good technique.
I love Scott, even though he is a beast bass player but he always put value to the others beast in the way he watches them play on the panel. Andre Gouche, Garry Willis, Marcus Miller, Justin Raines, Rich Brown and many more. ❤❤❤
🔥🔥🔥 that switch up at 2:13 broke me man 😢😭 I'm at work in tears smh I'm 35 years old bro Im the head musician at my church I play keys, organ, bass, and drums. Im gonna hit them with this this Sunday coming. Thank you
I love how some musicians are so facially expressive when it comes to what their music is doin to them...especially bass and guitar players. This is fiya!
FishCombo most definitely, but his use of hammer on’s and pull offs are a huge part of his technique which allows him to play extremely fast, fluid and precise fills almost effortlessly. Truly a master of the instrument and a great example of Gospel playing that’s been at the forefront of tremendously amazing rhythm sections for the last century at least.
What just happened? What a showcase of skill and creativity. Best bass player on the planet! I read some comments about technique, fly finger etc.... Who cares, to be crisp, groovy, mixing it up for 5 minutes like this is nothing less than amazing. To all musicians, the end user of our talents and skills only cares about the product, not the road traveled to get there!

Chris B Yessir agreed! Ever since I heard him playing on BB Winans album “Cherch”, he has been my favorite gospel bass player…

Sharay Reed
Andrew, Sharay Reed, Bryan “B Dub” White and Maurice Fitzgerald. These are the Fab 4 to me.

What I love about Andrew is he can stay in the pocket, play a relatively normal walking bassline then just rip it! WAY COOL!
Pocket nothing...he DROVE that song.
