I appreciate you recognize there’s a difference in the markets across the pond. I’ve gotten some very angry comments from people who don’t realize that here in the US things are priced very differently and there’s not much we can do about it. That’s a big reason why there’s such a discrepancy between the prices of bikes over there versus what we get charged here in the US. The components are what kills us.

eBay tip...don’t look for the most popular items on eBay like Zipp, but look for lesser known wheel brands, etc that are still quality.
Also, realize, there are a lot of people that buy more than they use or have more money than they know what to do with. I’ve even purchased tires with less than 50 miles on them for a third of new price.
There’s a local guy I frequently check with on Craigslist that is single, has 12 bikes, and purchases items in bulk for his team. He often will sell things cheap just to clean out his garage.

A lot of folk may know this but AliExpress has a LOT of new Shimano (mainly) components. I've bought quite a few sets of hydro disk brakes, including a set for my son's 20" MTB for less than US$50. They also have drivetrain sets up to XTR for considerably less than the LBS (who I do support otherwise). They sell dropper posts and we've had really good experiences with them - they may not be a brand you recognise but they work and the quality's great.

I'm here very late, but I imagine Expert Voice has different tiers. My sister has an account through her work, and I would be shocked if deals she gets were the same as the membership through IMBA. Also, she tried to buy a bike off of Pros Closet earlier this year, and the bike didn't have original parts, was missing the dropper post it was supposed to have and some other issues. Luckily she lives close by to where they are and was able to go there to try and pick it up in person and didn't have to deal with return shipping etc. when she discovered these issues.

being member of a bike club can give you reduced price to on sale price, but there is a limit to what my local shop sells anyway, so I would have to be a member of a club, which I haven't done, at least not yet, and then buy a bike, but most bikes I am interested in they don't sell in shops or some not even in Norway.

I look for the best prices, buy as much as possible without insanely big package, and buy from what ever shop gives me most for lowest price.
also I try to avoid buying outside Norway as much as possible, due to the 25% import tax.
also some shops don't change price according to the market, and the rest of the shops, so prices are insane, even at sale it's the same price as the product is selling for most other places, do looking at other shops is a good idea, also try to get a good deal, ask for a good deal.
second hand market is really bad in Norway when it comes to drivetrain, impossible, unless you look for old stuff.
but I see nice prices for nice components, but mostly products I already got, or in wrong size.
also looking for pro bikes or component's is a good idea, you can get some great deals, but won't work for everybody, due to size for example, and not often you find it.
buying on black friday, before x mas ,after xmas, new year, and all there other special deal days, but I rarely find stuff I want, cus I already got it, or it's not in stock in size I want, or its mostly stuff I don't want, the best deal was world wide Cyclery with price drop on every thing in the shop, but problems with days like that is you need to know what you want and get it fast, that doesn't work out well for me always.
also buying second hand from ebay probably wont work that well due to import tax, but there is a way to avoid that, some one else buys it for you in the us, sends it to you as a gift, if I understand it correctly. I haven't tried that myself.
about Maxxis tyres ,I empty the stock of all shops that sell them, cus they don't have enough, good I bought all they got cus otherwise I would pay 25% import tax to get stuff from a international shop. and I don't want to wait for importer to import tyres, and then for shop to get the tyres, then sell them to me.
buying smart saves a lot, I saved thousands, but some things I can't save on.
Poc stuff, I got where ever I could no matter the price, I had to shop in several shops both in Norway and internationally.

I have bought two or maybe three new tyres and a headset I think, in nearly 20 years of riding! I don't compete and I'm handy at repairing and rebuilding stuff so older parts don't phase me at all. over the past 3 months I found some great deals second hand, but not from these sites, but from the most common marketplace in Norway finn.no
it's not been much good stuff second hand this year before.
Got SunRace 11-50T black, basically new. but I was lucky, usually does not happen.
2 sets of Schwalbe Ice Spiker, unused,m seen several for sale now.
I sold most of my old parts too.

Google most of the time show me the lowest Price and I am actually surprised you don't mention this at all.
This video did not show me something new except ExperVoice but I am not in NA so it doesn't matter at all.
Also Prices here in EU are way higher when I look at NA.

If only this was valid in our country... MTB products here are just crazy expensive. On the flip side, clothing and safety gear seems to be a little bit cheaper. But components are just stupid expensive.

What an awesome video dude! You completely nailed this. Also i hate you (but not really) cause now i’m going to spend more money haha. Maybe not for a bit, treated my self to a carbon wheelset and a new fork for christmas. Hopefully they’re legit 😖 I actually saw a frame on ebay and the photos and everything were spot on, turns out it was The Pros Closet. Definitely going to become a go to site for buying bike stuff.

OfferUp is good but watch out for stolen goods. Really look at the pictures and some of the other items. If they look like they are taken from behind a store with trash and dirt.

I've never understood why there is music playing in the background of videos when people are talking. Should I listen to the music to listen to the information given? At times the music is louder than the voice and can be difficult to listen to for long periods of time.

I use Jensen to buy my stuff online. You can also get really good deals at Walmart. MTB Dropin did a good video about it. He is not from Colorado but has an ok channel. You should do some riding videos too. There is this guy called the Crashing Dad in Colorado that does mostly crashing videos and I bet you could ride with him. Do companies give you free products and expect special favors from you? I would rather buy my stuff than get it for free and have to deal with shady companies. You did a great job on this video but you can tell you were reading a teleprompter. I think that's why more riding shots would be better.
