- Test Card Showing the closedown of Plus (formerly Granada Plus) which took place on 1 November 2004.
This video was recorded on Tuesday 23 November 2010 over 6 years after the Plus channel stopped broadcasting on analogue Virgin Cable TV. Possibly the longest time that a closedown testcard has still been visible after the closure of the channel.
On 1 November 2004 the digital version of Plus was replaced by ITV 3 within hours of the Plus channel closing down. On analogue cable TV Plus was replaced by this message which remains to this day.
The video was recorded from the Nottingham network (formerly ntl and Diamond Cable).
The only remaining channels at this stage in analogue cable TV switchoff in Nottingham are:
VHF ch 2 - Plus Testcard
UHF ch 22- Five
ch 24 - BBC 1 East Midlands
ch 26 - ITV 1 Central East Midlands
ch 28- Channel 4 - East Midlands
ch 30 - BBC 2 East Midlands
ch 32 - BBC 1 Yorkshire and Lincolnshire
Imagine your corpse shown on a public street for several years. This is how this slide looked like at that point in 2010.
Strange to think that somewhere, some dusty old bit of kit was (and possibly is) broadcasting this single static image for long after the channel had ceased to exist. A single remaining link to an analogue age. Is this still being shown?

No, they just forgot. Even after NTL was replaced by Virgin, no one cared enough to shut down this card.

The Granada Plus closedown slide remained for over 5 years and was finally removed in April 2011 due to analogue cable becoming obsolete in the United Kingdom.

There are still 200,000 analogue cable customers in Milton Keynes due to a saga between BT and Virgin.
Which channels are available on Virgin's analogue service?
None. Analogue Cable ended in the area on the 28th November 2013 and BT are reusing the cable ducting for fibre optic broadband cabling.
