I believe the main reason people didn't like seraphine besides saying how she's just a copy of sona was how her lore with skarner was originally handled. The lore made her come across very naive at best or hypocritical at worst to some people's eyes. This also happened during a time where people wanted riot to calm down with the esport stuff and help focus on the lore a little more again. It also came across that riot was so focused on making her KDA skin first before she was put in the base game world. But since arcane gave hextech new origin and skarner's rework happened, I think the hate for her has died down some. I do think a lot of the anger was overblown, but I can kinda see why it got people riled up
