- Here is a video of my Campervan Dodge Grand Caravan 2008.
I am selling this converted minivan after nearly 3 years of loyal services 😭.
It's a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.3L (Stow n' Go), fully equiped for traveling. Perfect for two people.
I spent a while looking for the perfect van, and it’s not easy. With my needs, I didn't have many choices. Personally, I want something cheap to drive, that I can bring almost everywhere, and where I can sleep without being obvious. Not so sexy I admit, but there are pretty cheap, reliable, comfortable, stealth, and not so thirsty.
The only problem…. it’s smaller than a real van, and that’s why having a good setup is super important.
The particularity of this campervan is the versatile DAY & NIGHT set up, wich allow you to chill a couch during the day, and sleep confortably in a double bed at night ;). Two people can easily fit. The car has air conditioning and cruise control. There is 3 seats with seat belt, one is hidden in the floor and really easy to fold/unfold depending of your need.
🗃 Storage :
- Long shelf on the side that allow a lot of storage capacity, enough for at least 2 people. Lots of boxes and baskets to organize your stuff.
- I removed the back seats so their is a huge storage space instead, underneath the bed.
- There is big "hidden" storage located in the floor of the car, that used to host a car seat.
- A roofbox Thule "Ascent 1500" is also available.
🛌 Sleeping :
- Convertible couch/bed for optimal day use (custom made high quality foam mattress, blanket, sheet and pillow).
🍽 Cooking :
Full cooking equipment (Pot, pan, bowl, plate, cups, coffee maker, thermos, blinder magic bullet, cutting board, Tupperware and more).
- A high quality gaz cooker Primus 2 burners and a propane gas canister 5L refillable are available.
🔌 Electricity :
The car is equipped with an electric installation using the alternator of the car to charge a deep cycle battery using a smart device to direct the current. You can use the "Besteck 400w" inverter to charge any device as long as it doesn't exceed 400w (enough for computer, speakers, drones, even a blinder etc).
this van shows the importance of colour selection and congruence. he has picked neutral wood tones, for the shelves, bins, accessories and it actually makes the interior feel larger by taking care of visual clutter.
People’s creativity always amazes me! Like just when I think I’ve seen it all! Love this generation living their life instead of being chained to work that they hate... lol ie me..! One day I’m doing this. One day!
47 here and been at it for 3+ years now, and there's people way older than me that've done it way longer. You can do it! If I may offer my best advice: taking baby steps sooner is far better than waiting to take bigger steps. What are you already driving? Have you ever tried sleeping in it - even in your own garage, driveway, etc? It feels amazing to wake up and say, "I'm on my way to living the dream... "
It's not just this generation, not by a LONG shot.
Do it before you get old & do something everyday that leads you to that direction.
Holy crap I bought a caravan because I had a bunch of kids. When I get a new family vehicle I'm converting the caravan into something like this. Too cool
Same. My only issue is that once my van reached 100k miles it started having a bunch of problems. Now I'm thinking if do this build out then what about the engine problems that it's experiencing?

The sketchy part is to pull the cables from the engine battery to the deep cycle. I asked a mechanic to do that. Then you need a divice to direct the current smarty, their is lots of video about how to install it ;)

You need a split charge relay that intelligently switches current from the alternator between the car battery and leisure battery when above a certain amperage (when the engine is running). If you google the procedure for Split Charge Relay, then you're half way there. Now you just need an inverter, and some fuses(?). Google it for more precise info :)
If you live in a warm climate all year round this is an amazing set up.
I live in delaware and have lived in my dodge caravan for 3 years..rain sleet snow n sun..i plug in when I can but there are small propane heaters for when you arent..i love it
I live in boulder co. Did it for a year or so. It was 5 degrees outside in winter. And I was warm and cozy as I am now in my apt. I had a buddy heater that is almost too hot for the space. But if you turn it on low . You can be in there watching TV and sipping cocoa . I know . I've done that periodically in the winter . Also you feel powerful because your saving all of your paychecks. I saved up a quick 20 grand in a few months. . Got a apt in spring and nice vehicle.
A small KERO heater would work wonders. I live in Alaska in a tiny home and a single KERO does the job.
@@jameswatson6 Buddy heaters release a lot of moisture. If it was 5°F and you were running a buddy heater, you had ice all over the inside of your van.
This is by far the BEST Dodge Caravan conversion I have found, and I have been looking for almost 2 years. I revisit it occasionally.

I have a 2019. This is a very nice set up. All the neutral strapped in bins are great! I love the little white lights. I've heard that a foam mattress is relatively easy to cut.

My coworkers and bosses made fun of me when i told them i bought a minivan after they asked what kind of car I ended up buying (Old car ran its last mile). I bought it mostly out of need the first time but now it's out of necessity and pleasure because i live in a hurricane evacuation area and a truck sure theres room but people can climb and steal from the bed and a car is horribly low to the ground and lacks space. since my first van I started loving the idea of having vans. Just bought a 2010 grand caravan and honestly I love it. I plan to take a trip around the country and even visit my home country in it. After some minor repairs

I was considering the Grand Caravan for my build but decided on the Chevy Astro. More reliable, more space for a fixed bed. I do like the battery setup you use and the intelligent use of space for storage but it's too cramped for my liking.
The lighting is wonderful. I also enjoy remodeling vans in Japan.

@@whatsuponearth-production Love the idea of in the future adding a battery and inverter, for now I am just using portable battery packs a 300 and a 500 watt unit off amazon but i can charge them while i drive or via solar panels. Great job glad you're getting out there on adventures!

Love it! Some vans remind me of my old overstuffed garage. My mother used containers, plastic bins, and boxes for all the junk. I wish you didn’t have so much stuff. It looks as if you need a big van. What about a RV? Or a school bus?

This is a awesome set up/layout and thinking about that conversion. I did own a Dodge Grand Caravan but it's a older model w/o a fold down seat. Great job!
I have a 2006 caravan cargo model..its always a work in progress..nothing built..just bed.. cooler.. small dresser..little things..hanging racks to shove things in..

Battery Cable at 2:13: That is a Battery repair terminal lug and are known for getting corroded and loosing contact, causing charging problems and the car not to start. Time for new Red positive battery cable. Good luck Tcash

Great for regular camping...not thw best for stealth camping because you need to get out of yours to access alot of things in the back.
