When I was in school they did a play of the Rocky Horror Show. I was at least so good as the original. After it the teachers went home and fetched their camcorders and asked them to do it a second time. The whole school was talking about it for weeks. Long time ago, early 90ies. People were more chilled that time. Today everybody ist afraid to say something which someone else may dislike.
I would never have believed that anybody, much less a high school theater group, could have presented Monte Python And The Holy Grail as a stage play. This is brilliant. It is more than brilliant. It is impossible. And yet, they did it. This is one of the most amazing things that I have ever seen. I love it.
Eric Idle of Monty Python transformed the Holy Grail movie into a stage musical called *Spamalot.* Well. You watch Monty Python's Flying Circus TV series and you're watching a bunch of little plays. Same thing with the film *Holy Grail.* Just a bunch of little plays.
This is brilliant, the original Pythons need to see this, John, Micheal, Terry (Gilliam) and Eric. RIP Graham and Terry Jones. Reckon they would get a real blast from it.
Seriously, while nobody can ever beat the Monty Python line delivery, this play was so imaginative with its exacution, particularly with the Black Knight. Super impressed with the camalot dance too 😂 brilliant. Well done chaps! P. S. While certainly patchy, I do very much appreciate the accent attempts.
one of the few lines that where removed. i also think theres a line from the swamp castle and anthrax scene missing, and maybe 3 more, but that may just be my memory that are fuzzy.
Well almost, the 'moist bint / watery tart' peasant was clearly struggling not to laugh. That's not a criticism, it added to the scene and I thought it was hilarious. 😍
From the perspective of a Brit, this is great and I love the attention to detail. I was really excited on seeing how they would do the Camelot song and the Lancelot infinite running scene and both were still brilliant.
The best part about Monty Python plays is that even if you fuck up, it’ll just add to the comedy. It can’t go wrong. Regardless, this went off without a hitch. Beautifully executed.
This is by far the best high school play I have ever seen. Seriously great job to the cast and crew who made this possible. Basically, line for line and scene for scene, and for highschool kids, pretty good acting, and the accents were great!
Hey Allan, I'm so glad I decided to video this play and put it on here. I can't believe how it has taken off! I am Luke Lawrence's stepmom. Never expected it to turn into this. Pretty cool. You guys nailed this play and I think I watched this movie over 20 times growing up. Kudo's to you!
Very well done! You all embraced the sillyness and I particularly commend the Black Knight, Robin's Minstrel, the Three-Headed Giant and Tim the Enchanter for all really throwing themselves into it. I was surprised you were able to do even a toned down Castle Anthrax scene.
The brilliant work arounds like the dismemberment of the Black Knight, transitions, etc was beautifully done. This was one of the most amazing school plays I’ve ever seen!
@@filthycasual8187 yes the rest have gone down the drain. just the last 15 years have made school into something i dont recognise anymore. (ended school in 2007)
My head canon is that Robin's singing minstrel isn't actually a theater kid. The kid who plays Robin has a bully who found out that this was happening and joined just to be the one to do that to him. And from then on, that became his new bully tactic irl. It was supposed to just be a funny thing for the play, but now that kid actually follows the other kid around, skipping merrily and singing of how cowardly and feeble he is, in the hallways between every single class You will not convince me otherwise
maybe the best of all the acts, but i do say that i where a bit reluctant with the castle anthrax scene, but the girl pulled it off without it feeling wrong or weird due to their age and the nature of the dialogues. but the king of swamp castle takes the prize in my opinion. i got the feeling that it was a very sincere depiction, but also that its a young man with a lot of confidence, which are becoming a rare commodity these days.
Honestly this is one of the few times where the laugh from the audience adds to performance rather than distract from it. This was such a great performance. 😀
what a fantastic rendition of the Black Knight bit. loved the limbs flying over the rock. what a way to bring new life to a classic English comedy, bravo DeSoto High.

As a British person I find it hilarious and lovely and they obviously all had fun making it and the audience had fun watching it. Arthur carried it well... Bedevere was superb, Tim the Enchanter was solid. Black knight and castle Anthrax were done great. Tim scenes, rabbit scenes and the bridge were also very good. Overall really solid job. This is universal humour that with efforts like this can be kept alive for generations.
What makes this movie so good is that it’s quality is comparable to that of a school play, with that being said I literally just watched a random school’s play rather than working on submitting my application to Yale… worth it
You missed the part where Lancelot just kills the two guards guarding the Prince, while one of the is just "Hey, you're not allowed to be here" But other than that and a couple nitpicks, this play is Spot-On to say the least
Amazing how they executed each scene. And also, that curtain call bgm! For those who expects more, well, they're in high school. And it is impressive how they pulled each scene despite the fact that the budget is tight, unlike those plays you watch in the royal albert hall.

My only complaint is the lack of cuss words used in the first half. It just felt naked without them. But nevertheless, the Monty Python boys would be proud.
This was one of the best recommended choices I could ever get. As a former drama kid I honestly am jealous they got to perform this. Well done kids. You did extremely well with an all time classic.
I think the bridge of death scene could have been done better and the bowing at the end could have been with the intermission music, but this was still very good
The whole ending where the Constables rush in to arrest Arthur could've gone better if they had interjected other scenes where the Constables are talking to witnesses of the first murder of a civilian by one of the Knights on horseback. They only showed the Constables once after the attack, which makes the last scene where they show up a bit confusing as to why they were there.
I gotta say, it was really impressive how they perfectly memorized all the lines for the "dumb guards" routine. It's tough to remember them all in sequence. Also they did a great job with the killer rabbit. I was wondering if they could pull it off, but they did.
This is the first play I've seen on youtube. I really liked this. Fantastic work by everyone involved in the play. Remembering every line like that is really impressive.
OMG this was gold. So cool to see the youth still interested in this old classic! You can tell these students put MANY hours into this , and it definitely showed. Great job guys and girls.
It's so interesting how they work around the inability to cut the camera on stage. The Black Knight scene using the rock to hide behind while hiding his arm is genius and it's funny as hell too.

They really did a great job working around the most cinematic bits that need editing to work. Like the black knight scene. I was wondering how they were gonna pull that off. Great job

To be fair, being in a tight budget is keeping with the spirit of the original.
Yes. However, I wished language wasn't restricted, as well as content and context.
