a legendary franchise that not only created a an entire genera but sprouted another legendary franchise and years long rivalry before eventually buying out said rival
Hands down one of the best RPG's of all time. This is the only RPG til this very day that sticks to its JRPG roots. Loved XI and cannot wait to play the 12th one.
An RPG draws near! Command? Fight >Spell Lick Dance You cast Ignore Dragon Quest attacks! Thou art dead. Dragon Quest cannot be escaped from. All of your favorite franchises would not exist without Dragon Quest.
Ichiban Kasuga draws near! Command? >Fight Spell Flee Item You attack Ichiban. Ichiban dodged. Ichiban uses Hangman Twist. You took 9999 damage! Thou art dead. Ichiban cannot be escaped from. All of your favorite franchises are now replaced with Like A Dragon.
I still can't get over how Dragon Quest Builders was based on the bad ending, and explained where the hero ended up, when he was given a Large castle called, "Half of the World". Even the princess makes a remark about how disappointed she was when he gave into the offer and went that route.
I’m still creeped out by the original bad ending when I think about it, to this day. Nothing but a red tinted screen and the continued droning of the final dungeon music…that’s it.
Loved playing the SF version of DQ3. A little buggy when I played a while ago but so glad that’s the version I went with. GBC just had too much screen crunch for me, drove me crazy.
@VahanNisanian Eh, probably, but it's not like I wish bad things on the dead. The way he was, he was probably already tortured by enough horrible things in life.
What do you think will be added to DQ1 and DQ2? If they go by what they have done in the past, I don’t think anyone will buy the upcoming DQ1 + 2. Especially when they can just buy the other one on the Switch. DQ3 did need an update, because the Switch version is worse than the GBC version, significantly so.
Not much but a EASIER Cave to Rhone is a must so instead of having to DEAL with the full party instant kill spells those enemies use DQ2 only its best to avoid them IE HAVE a NO ENCOUNTERS cheat exist or at least the SPELL VERSION OF IT.
@DKarkarov and I might and hopefully will be. With DQ1, they could show the action between the Hero and the enemy. That’s probably the only change they could make without totally changing DQI. But I don’t know how you could fix DQ2. The thing I said about what they could add to DQ1, they could apply it to DQ2. But DQ2 still has some other issues that has to be fixed. I’m afraid it would change DQ2 a lot. Like I want DQ2 to be good. I think Hargon and Malroth are awesome villains, and deserves so much more than what DQ2 gave them. Dragon Quest in the West isn’t like Pokemon, in that they can throw out a bad product, and still generate a lot of money.
I hope so. DQ4-7 is my jam. Have not played 8 (really want to, but emulators that I could play 8 on haven’t worked out for me). And I feel judged 9 too harshly, that so I’m playing that again. 9 needs to be on another console.
For the first 3 games NES SNES Game boy Color and a IOS/Android (Mobile port) the CURRENT Switch collection of DQ1 to 3 Switch only IS based on the IOS/Mobile version of the games so DQ3 for the Switch has neither the Monster Medals from the Game boy color version OR the DICE Board game from the SNES/GBC version of DQ3 either. DQ3 did get a JAPANESE 3DS version but its the same game as the one on the Switch collection so the Dice board game/Monster medals don't exist for it. DQ4 to 5 besides the NES and SNES game had DS remakes the ONLY ones in English DQ4 got a PS1 remake JAPAN only and a PS2 remake of DQ5 in Japan. DQ7 PS1/3DS remake only. DQ8 same as DQ7. Dragon quest 9 DS only it never got a remake. Dragon Quest X JAPAN only and even its OFFLINE version of this 10th game IS unlikely TO leave Japan. DQ11 is both the PS4/Switch only in the USA it DID get a 3DS version just ONLY in Japan. I could be wrong but for the first 4 DQ games on the NES you NEVER COULD manually control your party members as soon as you chose to ATTACK the AI controlled the party on the NES versions of the first 4 games that changed with the remakes.
The first RPG I ever completed and the beginning of a legendary franchise.

Every time, in my head, when I read the old English text in the original NES release, it's completely in Graham Chapman's voice.
I'm not sure why the Dragonlord was renamed to Dragon King for some reason
Don't have to select 'Stairs' on SNES? Wow..

RIP Akira Toriyama 😢😢😢
Getting back in touch with a wonderful game on my most beloved console, the feels are real
How will the recently announced HD-2D remake for Dragon Quest compare to the classic?
Going by the series' track record, I think it'll probably be great.
@@NintendoCompletewhat's sad is that it'll be the first Dragon Quest (or Dragon Warrior) game without Akira Toriyama
Thank you, Mr. Toriyama.
Loved playing the SF version of DQ3. A little buggy when I played a while ago but so glad that’s the version I went with. GBC just had too much screen crunch for me, drove me crazy.
Yeah, that's the one rough thing about the GB games. Exploration is so much harder when you can only see half a dozen tiles in each direction.
but thou must
I should've left her in the cave.
She’s the worst
Man I forgot how 70% of this games run time really was just wandering around in a circle grinding for exp and money.
Ah, that opening music!
4 hours? That's surprising.
Many thanks NintendoComplete!✌️✌️
Who’s here after the HD-2D announcements?
It's just not fair that Toriyama is gone. Not fucking fair.
🫂
Totally. I didn't give a shit when Sugiyama died - the world is a better place without spiteful bigots in it - but man, Toriyama 😓 RIP
@@NintendoComplete Wait a minute. Didn't you say RIP to Sugiyama, too, three years ago?
@VahanNisanian Eh, probably, but it's not like I wish bad things on the dead. The way he was, he was probably already tortured by enough horrible things in life.
@@NintendoComplete For the record, Toriyama mourned his passing three years ago, which I don't have any issue with.
Wait isn't this Dragon Warrior from NES it's like the first RPG game to start all RPG games I was a kid in the 80s playing this for hours
This is the remake on the SNES. It came with DQII as well as seen at the start.
yes the save bug is fixed
can't wait for the remake
Pure retro ❤
nice dragon quest very good
R.I.P. Akira Toriyama.
Fair warning to other veterans of the NES original, this translation patch manually retranslated the names of a lot of characters and places.
Too bad the Super Famicom releases were only in Japan. I would have loved if Nintendo released them world-wide

At the very least, it won't be ugly as sin like the Switch/mobile versions are.
I think you are very wrong, a lot of people will buy the HD remakes of 1 and 2.

So far they're releasing Dragon Quest 3 2D-HD Remake later this year, and 1 and 2 2D-HD are set for release early next year

The game is still great.....The only dislike I have is, there's no stutter steps when walking on the hills terrain....other wise excellent rendition.
They replaced Loto with Roto.
