How to deal with an atlas class ship:
1. Depressurize everything
2. Open the quasar thruster and hit the fuel switch. KEEP EVERYTHING ELSE in place until all thrusters are done. Otherwise the risk of the ship getting below 50 tons weight is too high which results in the ship gets yeeted somewhere in the yard.
3. When the thrusters are done, salvage the rest of the ship as usual.
4.Profit
I read the word profit and remembered every time a Ferangi said that in Star Trek just why
Your missing a few steps. When you pop off the cone on the end. You attach a teather to the center piece behind cone and attach it to back wall. Then cut the four fuel pipe junction. The teather will pull that piece straight out of the way. Then go straight in and shut it off.
If you're below 50 tons you won't get crushed in the thruster if you attach tethers to peel apart the casing when you hit the fuel shut off switch.
Best way to pull the Thrusters two is to take the end cap off. Attach a tether to the thrusters and the back wall. Then cut the fuel lines. The tether will pull the thruster out and you can race in and cut off the fuel supply.
I also recommend doing this first, before you cut up the rest of the ship as the "split" of the nacell is somewhat violent and can shift things around and cause a mess. I found if I do this first it's much easier as the mass of the vessel prevents it from moving around.
To quote a Real Civil Engineer: This was designed by an Architect.
One more tip. Get the split saw and place yourself so that you see all of the cut points at the same time, close enough for the saw's range. Then tilt yourself 45 degrees so that the cut points are level in relation to you. Four fast cuts, avoid the thruster and race to the and.
Also, be very careful with bombs near the nacelles until you've cut the fuel. They will easily catch fire from them and after that there's no time to try to save the situation.
@@anteshell I found the split saw not that great. I had better success with the standard point cutter and you have enough time to cut all four. But yes, you should position yourself so that you can see all four of them, ideally slightly off to the right or left, otherwise you may get the thruster right into your face when the tether starts pulling.
@@michaelkalus7802 I like the saw for its speed, as you can start aiming elsewhere right after pressing the trigger without waiting the cut to finish. I also like it's non-existent heat output, but that is mostly due to my play style. I play in free mode without oxygen as I feel that making the game tedious is not a good substitute for difficulty. Instead, I make the game difficult by buying as little upgrades as possible.
when you get to the hazzard level where coolant is unlocks they become a walk in the park. get one of the canisters that are beside the thruster. crack it like an egg at the side of the truster. then freeze all the surrounding pipes. now when you cut, there will be no fire, you can take your time going in and shuting it off
The beam from your cutter will catch flammable things on fire; you want to be careful what it clips through. Especially important around explosive stuff, obviously, but fire’s no fun either. Splitsaw did you dirty because you forgot to change the angle so you sliced into the fuel line and the thruster as well as the cut point.
When it comes to ship breaking, what I've found that works is a 2 day schedule: Cut day and Sell day. (This is just my way of playing, it's not for everyone.)
Cut day is exactly what it sounds like, going around to most of the Cut points and disassembling the ship into sections, the Hull being the biggest focus. However, make sure to sell some stuff to make sure you keep your debt at bay (best to sell barge parts as they give the most for weight and ease of transportation. Cutting out the bottom of the ship helps with this.)
Sell day is started by finishing Cuts but mostly focusing on selling everything, saving tethers for hull and main body parts.
Overall you are following the general idea well, mostly need to work on optimizing your time. I really hope you play this game through, it's a great game.
well the later ships it tends to be a 2/3 day job for me first day is scout, depresurize(once did 7-8minutes over depressurizing new ship and anoying pressure parts) and cut and maybe if its easy reactor pull day second day mayor sell day third day cleanup
@@goldendon511 I haven't gotten to the biggest ships yet in 2.0 so I was just going over small-medium. Thank you for the input.
@@memesthednaofthesoul. for the latest stages the sequence you want is depressurising, disconnecting the tier 2 reactor's engine(s), taking off the hull, gutting the inside and then stuffing whats left in the furnace. with some of the biggest ships it can take 4 or 5 shifts to take apart depending on how careful you wanna be
"make sure you keep your debt at bay"
No interest, so irrelevant. All that matters is finishing the job in as few days as possible since the ship only gives a set amount.
@@this.is.a.username There is interest though, at least there used to be?
Repair Kits are for your tools and you use them in teh HAB between shifts. You can collect them in your inventory for later use.
The Suit Patch Kits are for repairing your suit when it takes damage, they are consumed immediately upon collection (either by looting them from a ship or by buying from the Master Jack) so cannot be stockpiled.
Just beat this last night. Highly recommend following through with the story. My playthrough was about 19.7 hours according to steam. Excited to see Drae double that with his inability to follow directions
Don't know if you know this, but repair kits are only for your equipment, suit repair is only at the station.
also, a trick I learned. when you deal with multiple cut points, you can use the long cutter to get them all. just make sure you're not going to hit anything flammable or gas points.
Other RUclipsrs: I'm so great at this game, people are gonna think this is scripted.
Drae: I'm so dumb at this game, people are gonna think this is scripted.
It cracks me up that someone so innocently chaotic and completely erratic finds such joy playing simulations that require a methodical and highly meticulous approach. Drae, you are a walking dichotomy, my dude...
From my experience with most ships, you have to spend one day gutting the things. depending on how big the ship It could be a two-day job, especially when dealing with pressure. I usually take out the reactor, the power, and then the components. this usually nets a good profit then you can spend the rest of the day getting nanocarbon processed. I usually leave the metal skeleton till last but If you do it right you won't need to use much of it to get that 5 tier rating.
a good tip is to leave your electrical components till the end and make sure everything is depressurised first or else you might lock air in some place which usually leads to a not so good time.
also don't waste your time with lights, they're pretty worthless and won't do damage if destroyed.
happy cutting o7
Hey Drae use the Split saw in vertical or horizontal mode when you don't have a lot of small and flammable items around the best times is when you have 2 or more cut points in a line fairly close to one another. While on the other hand use point laser when you have to get to cut points in tight or tricky places one by one.
Follow this and give this a try in your next episode you will get the hang of it fairly well and quite soon.
About tool durability it's best to fix them when they are at 40% to 50% durability left to make the most out out of your tool repair kits.
The increased danger is what makes this game so fun to watch.
Really enjoyed it, and I look forward to seeing the next episode in my feed!
i am a rapid salvager. and try to get ships done in 2/3 shifts. my tactic for this is to just ignore the tiny barge items.. lights, although the value adds up over time, isn't worth said time to remove unless the object its attached to is hurtling towards either furnace or processor and is an easy grab. airlock controls are worth is as they are easy enough to yoink between tasks, and the small batteries (although tempting to take) resist till your completed with all tasks that require power/
day 1 I focus more on the larger panels of processor material (more often than not located on the back half of the ship), if the tethers can drag it, its better to keep it in 1 piece, less time wasted cutting, more time searching and breaking into chunks. glass goes in the furnace for a pretty decent price. but some of the lower tier/mid tier /light ships have glass attached straight to the carbon, its 100% worth early on to take the 4 seconds to make 4 cuts to set it free.
day 2 focuses on the volatiles. things I cant to get out of the way before slicing the ship and moving valuable barge items, tier 1 reactor is just a joke of a task. super simple when its a clear path. tier 2 reactors can be more troublesome.... but you don't need to do the precautionary tasks if you've managed to clear ample space on day 1. if the ship is larger, or the reactor is in a poor position, do the controlled meltdown, takes a few extra seconds, but worth being that little bit more safe if its already dicey.
day 3 is relegated to cleaning and scraps, slicing the last of the ships hull and sorting
so far at rank 15, and ive only ever had 5 - - 3 day ships and in retrospect by that point the amount of money gained through the final cutting of the hull is negligible, pretty arguable on whether or not to just toss the empty shell for a fresh ship, as a 3rd day only giving you 2/3M$ just isn't worth the time when in that same period on a new ship, by that tier your capable of 10M$ shifts with relative ease....
my go to upgrade suggestions is strength, charge push, tethers (in that order).. and cooling on the laser, capacity can be circumnavigated on a verity of cuts just by using the split beam, (this works RLY well on a handful of ships with massive cut points, giving you space to aim without damaging a vital component, AND saving a ton of time, as it would take over a full charge from the laser, plus cooling of both the tools heat and cut point, to break through) ive spent essentially nothing on my characters suit upgrades. and ive boosted up my jetpack as movement is pretty vital (tho launching yourself using the gravity push can be both effective... and VERY lethal)
If he thinks that was hard. I cannot wait to see him do a hazard 9 ghost ship :D
Last time I was this early I had a dad
IM SORRY DID SOMEBODY TURNED OFF THE LIGHTS IN THIS COMMENT SECTION

longer episodes on this game please! would love to watch an hour of this its so fun
Hour long content doesn't fare well on youtube.
@@Mice-stro You are very incorrect.
RUclips prioritizes watch time. If we all watched an hour long vid of his compared to a 15 min vid of his, the hour vid would get pushed to SO MANY more people. Teo just talked about it on his channel because his vods channel gets more new people than his main cause the vods are longer
this game is so much fun to watch and play i really hope they add coop or something eith massive ships, cant wait to watch drae play more

One thing i wish i knew early was that pressing "z" makes you use your hand to grab onto things. I died many times to quasar thrusters because they would violently fly apart and crush me, not knowing I could've attached myself to prevent harm

I actually found the Atlas ships to be quite fun but def had issues with the banana splits getting stuck like that as well. The ships past them get much more complex, so save the good rage for next episode ;p
Really need to start collecting those spare parts floating around. Building your little ship gets exhausting late game.
the thrusters on atlas ships are evil. but on higher hazards they intreduce cryo containers and they are sometimes on one of the thrusters, so if you bang one of those on the hull to have a small cryo leak and then freeze the fuellines that is the only way to avoid to run / float through fire
My tummy had the rumblies that only hardspace shipbreaker could satisfy
I could watch you play this all day.pleaseee we need more
I havent seen you on my recommended page in 3 years and forgot who you were until the voice Draegast I'm glad to be back
12:30 that was not a hatch, but reactor's coolant casing, fuel pipe flush is on fuel tank which is... welp it can be anywhere tbh, there are 5 possible spawns I know of
Personally, I don't like the atlas models due to the overly difficult engines, but pro tip: use a tether on the motor and attach it to the back wall BEFORE you cut the gas lines. That way when you make the last cut the motor is already moving out of the sheath, leaving you more time to fly in and hit the cutoff.
But I still feel there should be another access point to the engines, that feels like the "weld it into place" approach, which breaks immersion for me...
I dunno, I feel it adds to the immersion. Ask any mechanic how many vehicle manufacturers actually prioritise future maintenance when designing. How many cars have there been where step 1 for swapping a headlight is "remove engine".
Thanks to you I’m now addicted to this game!
Don't ever bother with the lights btw. They're a waste of time and so absolutely inconsequential that it'll NEVER stop you from hitting a salvage goal. Same with wires. Just leave em on and process the whole lot
I love this it’s so satisfying I don’t even know why but it’s nice
the furnaces entrances and the processor entrance have like a vacuum that suck anything in close by, the piece that got stuck and acted weirdly did so because of the vacuum of the processor and furnace entrance both trying to suck it in
I want a sequel to this game where you work in the different places you send the parts too and just get ship parts you scrap down.
Quick tip: Use Z and X to grab on a wall and prevent being sucked by the pressure :)
There is a secret behind the HAB when you are scrapping a ship you can find it with the scanner
Soft implies plastics, polymers, and fibers, they can all potentially catch fire.
At 13:57, I honestly don't care if it's scripted, but I gotta say.. How did Drae forget to rotate the lazer pointer on the split saw?
im about 100% positive this series is entirely scripted. he makes mistakes someone who plays games for a lviing would never. im not saying hes a professional in other games, but hes not retarded failing to understand even the most basic of concepts. he also reads the comments yet is still pretending to not know how repairing his suit works?
Your videos are getting so short drae! Give us 30 min vids! One 12-18 min video isn’t enough 😩
I love this game and I love your videos it's the best of both worlds
Man I really want to get this game

The LYNX Salvage Division awards you, Cutter 9346-52 "Drae", one additional sugar ration for upholding LYNX workplace safety standards by putting the good of the company before the good of your own well-being. LYNX Salvage Division: "Safety Third"
Wow, Drae still does not know the difference between an equipment repair kit and a suit patch kit? Then again you are the only person I have seen put their repair kit cargo on fire!
Also, best to complete your training mission completely as they may skip shift times/repair and refuel costs sometimes. Daily costs still apply.
And if you listened to Weaver, you would have known what to do. Pop off the rear thrusters, cut the fuel line race to the back *avoiding the fire* and turn off the fuel before it blows (yes you ARE squeezing through those and no I don't think Drae is scripted. Not sure why you can't aim with the split cutter.)

Use the airlock to take out the loose cargo so it doesnt fly everywhere and kill you or destroy stuff when you don't have a regulator. Trust me, it's worth it. 5 mins max and your shit doesn't blow up.
So I noticed that they actually fine you for materials missed when you accidentally put stuff in the wrong processor. It used to be that you'd just get a 0 value for it
Looks like they may have reviewed the few times I dumped a whole macarel into the processor...
I assume the repair kits are for tools and the patch kits are for the suit
Super fun game, keep up the good work!!

What's a worse destiny? To salvage space ships or be a RUclipsr?
I like how there is Fire even there is no Oxygen
So like how is stuff catching fire in parts exposed to the vacumn of space? Like i could see if it was attached to a part of the ship that was pressurized with oxygen but...

Nice
Its not the saw´s fault that u cant use it ^^ XD Still funny vid
On the Atlas ship anything below level 7 you have to run the gauntlet of fire and cut the fuel lines. Above level 7 there are coolant tanks to freeze the fuel lines before cutting.
It would be really cool if you could only start fires in pressurized compartments... A fire burning in space just looks weird
Space fires are realistic though. All you need is oxygen, not air. Most explosive or flammable bits have their own oxidizers
Great video
Is Drae playing with the controller or is he just that bad?

I love how on his first job he had something still left in the barge that shouldn't have been there. I know you can pull items out of the barge if you want to correct it.
How? I haven't been able to do that. Neither by hand nor with tethers.
@@anteshell You have to basically either go into or get close to the barge. If it's attached to something that's supposed to be there, you should just be able to cut it off and move it that way. I just had a reason to do it last night with an explosion due to a decompression issue I had when taking apart one ship. It sent pieces everywhere, including into the barge when the canopy blew off. I just grabbed those ones highlighted in red, and just sent them into the correct locations.
