The theory is that when cxs died he passed on his powers to lug guan like how Li tian xi did to Qiao ling. And the consequences of uses someone else’s power is white hair . Therefore all of season one was lu guan from the future because his hair is all white from the countless of times he has used CXS’s power

And although he and Lu Guang need to high five in order to, literally, link with each other I kind of doubt that Xiaoshi has never high-fived Lu Guang or anybody else in the entire time he's had his powers (for however long that has been). So it's probably voluntary but I need to go back and check, see if there are any points in the show where Xiaoshi claps or high-fives someone in the past but doesn't get tossed out.

I think the picture is the one that he dropped in the opening of s1 which is pretty obvious if you take a closer look. I think Lu Guang is only out of the character when it has to do either with Xiao Shi's life danger or him trying to change people's future. We know the reason why Lu Guang enforce Xiao Shi's the rules and he dislikes his planned being broken and often gets emotional from that... Why? Because if Xiao Shi really did change the past and the future is impacted, then Lu Guang no longer knows the future how Xiao Shi died and so goes his plan. Lu Guang is a pity character, just like the ending of s1 suggests in the music.This is just my understanding thou hahahaha Thanks for asking
