@@DobsonianPower Yes you are right, I have captured almost all the planetary observations on a low budget, and now 93k people have joined my channel, now they are asking for deep sky. But all this is difficult due to lack of goto mount...
Hi, I'm new to the channel, new to astronomy. I have a question about Barlows. They vary in price a lot, is it because of quality difference or is it just because of brand names and no-name? Is it important to get a good quality Barlow lens for good observation experience? Thank you. Love the channel, bought an 8" dobsonian telescope because of you :)
Can someone quickly help me. I have a few questions: if I am attaching a camera to my dobsonian for photos do I use a lens such as 25mm or do I just put it straight onto the focuser or Barlow lens first?
I’m planning to start with planetary imaging. And will get me a 2x and 3x explore scientific Barlow. And the ASI 715. Can I use the 2 Barlow together? And will it be a 5x 3+2 or is it 3x2 so it will be a 6x Barlow?
you can but i don't recommend. You have diferent ways to do it for instance unscrew the barlow lens and adapt it or simply use an adapter like this directly amzn.to/40NkgZI screw it to the eyepiece and done.
Hi I tried to use my Zwo224 with my 10 inch flextube and a 3x Televue barlow and with the original USB3 cable and ASIair Studio program. Got a good view for one second of Jupiter, but then there was a connection problem and I failed to record. And my laptop failed to recognize the camera.. Got new much better cables, and tried to download new ASIair drivers. Was it the bad cables or old drivers do you think ? Can you reccommend a better capture program with this camera ? Or capture method ?
When you insert the barlow apart from magnifying the Moon, it will move the focus plane out so the distance from the telescope to get focus will be higher so you adjust the focuser. Just a distance matter, was that your concern?
@@DobsonianPower the other night I had the 2x Barlow in and swung over to a star to focus.. the star was in as focus as I could get it but it was VERY elongated... I assumed I didnt have the right back focus distance so packed up and quit.

@@ryanmichaelhaley You may be making a confusion with the backfocus needed for other tools like coma correctors, focal reducers, etc.which many require the 55mm backfocus to the sensor but not always that value. In this case it's only the camera and a barlow which moves the focal plane out.
@@DobsonianPower Thanks for explaining that, I've never heard that! Yes, my telescope has a coma corrector and a field flattener, and the scope requires 55mm backfocus to whatever you attach to the back of it (though I never use an eyepiece). There's so much information it's hard to keep it all organized, lol.
Ah, ok. I understand. Those 55mm you got to have from the coma corrector to the sensor. Tell me please, is it an unique piece? A coma corrector with flattener? Or 2 separated?
7:19 can you link me the adapter and the extended piece if possible please ? there are to many brands online i am afraid to buy the wrong ones XD i already have the ir cut filter
make sure you insert the barlow first, then the eyepiece into the barlow. Test with the Moon first, you will need outward movement in the focuser to focus with a barlow

Thank you for sharing your knowledge - too many people out there think they know it all and are unwilling to share what they know.
Wow! I'm a really beginner in astronomy and i've been looking for this explanation for a long time here RUclips. Thank you I really appreciate it!!!

Thank ypu and welcome aboard. You can ask questions during my live streams as well 👍
Additionally I like how you convey the relationship between the 9mm visually and the barlow. So true.
Yes, they are versatile
Never seen this demo before. Excellent review and setup. Thank you.

THANK YOU BROTHER. I just purchased the purchased my first telescope (celestron evo 8 hd) and I'm so ridiculously overwhelmed.
congrats. take it slowly
It doesn't get any better.
Doing astrophotography in India is very expensive. 😢

I know it is, unfortunately. Hope you can do something simple without spending too much. ❤💪

it's the quality. I recommend the explore scientific i have in my website, not too expensive but with quality dobsonianpower.com/
very helpful. underrated

If it's a DSLR i never used them. I only use astro cameras and they go directly into focuser qithout needing anything else

yes you can. it will be 3x2=6
Can I use a 3.2mm eyepiece to look at the moon with my 8 inch dob or is it to much power.it will be 375x my max is 408 thanks!
yes you can :)
Cool video. Merry Christmas
Hey Garnett, Merry Christmas 🎅
Can you use a 2in eye piece with a 1.25” 2x Barlow? Is there an adapter you can use

Just buy a 2" barlow. They're like $25
Can I attach a canon camera to a Barlow? I have a t ring and adapter but it seems I can only image at my base focal length
I don't use dslr so i can't help you but uou ahould be able to use a barlow, i use in all my astro cameras
Thanks for responding, I’ll keep looking 👍
Hello sir ur video helped me but can I use these in piematrix 76700
You can use a barlow with that telescope
If you unscrew the end of barlow put it in the eye pice can it scratch the mirror in the diagonal that’s what Iv been told?
That will depend on the diagonal. If it's good, it should have a stop ring inside. Check it
How do you stack it?

Does back focus distance matter when you are doing say Moon photography with a Barlow?
When you insert the barlow apart from magnifying the Moon, it will move the focus plane out so the distance from the telescope to get focus will be higher so you adjust the focuser. Just a distance matter, was that your concern?

It's good material. Should work. Are you using the camera inserted directly to the barlow without anything within?
My photos look like your smaller Jupiter photo with a 2x Barlow lens. Usng 90 mm with 20 mm lens.
So for the camera, the 55mm backfocus is just achieved right out of the Barlow? I find that hard to believe, but had to ask.
I don't understand your question. 55mm backfocus for what?
@@DobsonianPower The camera, there's a 55mm backfocus required for cameras
