If you gill your fish right after bonking your fish and I mean right after then then bleed out a lot and taste a lil bit better imo. I've only been salmon fishing for 7 years now but my grandpa has been fishing non tidal salmon for 60 to 65 years, when he was really young 5-11 they used to pitch fork them in the 50-60lbs yearly in the nearby creek which is nuts. Also only reason why they pitch forked them was because they were poor ASF and that's the best way to get them besides nets and they were expensive or hard to make
