People Are Talking - Connie Francis & Richard Bey (July 1989)

  • Here's a very frank conversation between Connie Francis and Richard Bey, the host of "People Are Talking."
Connie Francis doesn't shy away from discussing tough topics like her bi-polar disorder diagnosis and treatment, her time in a mental institution, her 1974 robbery and rape, her domineering father, Bobby Darin's heart-breaking marriage to Sandra Dee, the time her father tried to strangle Don Rickles, etc. All while Connie's mother is in the audience.
Even if you're not a fan, you may find yourself staying for the full 44 minutes.
Since I missed the show's opening and closing credits, cut the commercials out years ago and failed to simply write down the date I recorded this (other than "1989"), I can't be 100% sure of when this episode aired but, based on clues revealed during the interview, I'm thinking it was early July 1989.

Today is May 8, 2021..I've been watching an old interview of Connie Francis..she has been one of my Idols for many years..I have performed her music for years..I wrote her a letter a couple years ago..I sent her 2 music CDs and explained my Admiration for her since I was 12 yrs old..I sent to an address that was listed for fan mail,(I thought)..I anticipated a response from her, but never received even a hint of a hello....I know Famous people. Are busy, but she is now what 83-84..I don't know..all I know is, I was disappointed ...I am 74 and hopefully she is still alive..I don't know..I wanted to buy her book, but I've studied her life and her misfortunes, and wish her lots of good wishes in her life..I know she is fine now, and happy to have raised her son, and finally found her place In life with that situation..I'm still a huge fan, and miss her music, but still have the memories of her Fame ...She was the Greatest, and still did some wonderful entertaining after her tradgey..she was still great..The world misses you Connie..hope your latest book did well for you

Man what an interview. He is sadly one of many who assume that God isn't real since he just implied that Connie... Your a good person why would God do all of these bad things to you? He was trying to basically say that there isn't one because you wouldn't have had this all happen to you. God gives us our freedom and what happens is all due to circumstances and coincides. She is a very smart woman.. Even after rehab hell! She is right about Madonna too.

Connie sounds really out-of-it in this interview, but she’s actually a very smart and wise person. She wrote a great autobiography a few years ago that I’d recommend to all women. She lived quite a life that other women can learn from.
