well the stock exhaust is restrictive. you can still have the stock air cleaner showing but run stacks. if you want power and performance stock stuff really wont cut it. youll need stacks, open pipies and to tune the carbs properly. for bars theres no magic formula. i recommend watching this video to determine how long of cables youll need - ruclips.net/video/ZJbspsIuyaQ/видео.html
Is there a way to upload a photo here? I have an 04 vtc750 Aero. The bike is very comfortable. Now when I first got it, it had aftermarket straight pipes with baffles and some aftermarket cone style air filter. I’m not sure the proper terminology. I used to be able to get up to 115 mph max, and I’m a heavier dude. And I could go up to about 107 miles before having to switch to my reserve. I decided to remove the baffles for more sound, and it sounds wonderful. Even “felt” like I got a tiny bit more getup off the line - emphasis on felt. But like a dummy, I never tuned the bike afterwards. Now I’m lucky to reach 95 mph, and it often feels like it’s dragging. Also, about 80 miles pre-reserve is about the most I can get on a full fillup, and that’s all hwy driving. I also get quite a bit of backfire, regardless of the season. If I get a larger jet, is it possible I might get my bike back, or has the damage already been done? I’ve honestly considered just getting a larger bike, but this bike just fits my body style so well. It’s hard to find that perfect comfort on a bike, and I don’t think it’ll get much closer than this one is. I don’t know how the larger bikes fit or respond, and other than the low top end, I love this bike. I’d rather invest in it than start over with something I may wind up liking even less. Any help is appreciated. I am familiar with most of the work that accompanies small engines, however, I lack the tools or space to some of the work, as well as the experience to make sure it’s all done 100% correct without supervision. I’d love to show a few pics of the bike...
I have a feeling someone did some of these things to the one I picked up with no history. I have a shadow 750 spirit and an ace 750. The spirit has vance and hines exhaust but as far as other mods not entirely sure but it RIPS way more than my ace. The bikes seem like truly night and day. I never get up to highway speeds for long as I ride in a city but it is considerably quicker and runs way better. I thought maybe it's just me and didnt ride for like two weeks due to weather and rode them back to back, nope one is DEFINITELY different than the other.
Really informative fella. Need to get this done on my 600 because the air box is pug ugly and I'd like to be able to cruise at 75-80 all day without thinking the old girl (91) is running out of breath. Rear mudguard and bars too...just rode home from a funeral in the pouring rain and my back was fucking drenched... all this shit to do and so little time :-)

The bike runs like a bat out of hell! Do I need to mess with the A/F mixture screw?
I have a 1996 honda shadow vt 1100 I have to rebuild the motor due to having a small hole in the crankcase and also the bike I was told had sat out side for years .I am going to turn it into a bobber and wondering what aftermarket goods I can put on it to make the bike scream not wanting a drag bike like the one guy has but I nice second look at it when at the bike rallies from the Harley riders
Hi man...I have a 2013 HShadow RS (fuel Iny)... and I need to know where to get a high flow filter...not to sophisticated... simply those round ones like sporsters have... do you know where can I get it??
Is there an email for you? I have questions about my 00 shadow ace tourer 1100. Would love to keep the bike but get more performance. Not looking to race but at least keep up with my fellow American Legion riders. Thank u!
Add a supercharger or nitros oxide kit. I don't know why you'd want to ruin your high mpg though. High MPG is more important than top end speed on a daily driver.
Thanks for the comment! honestly i get better mpg after doing these things. MPG is GREATLY influenced by throttle use, its not a linear number. These bikes incredibly anemic stock and unless you run a super/turbocharger or nitrous, the MPG is fantastic with open intake and exhaust
Nice video! Can you do a 'how to do' video about this? Just someone filming you when you do it and explaining most of the things. I like those video's but I think they take some time to make
I have a new 2020 750 phantom, couple of things, I do not like is the speedometer is on the tank blinds me, with the sun; next it needs a tachometer, because at certain speed I'd like to know I'm in the highest gear. Next this bike needs a sixth gear. Shifting it skips a gear next ; most of the times it won't let me go into 5th gear.
You never actually said what the horsepower gain would be after doing the modifications that you’re saying to do is it really worth it if you’re only going to get another 5 hp.🇺🇸🛠🇺🇸
I recently purchased a 1995 VTX 1100 with 6000 original miles. It fires up idles and rides like a dream. however there's no power in fifth gear, and it has trouble holding speed over 70 mph. Both carbs have been recently cleaned. The bike is all original. Would this be a jetting issue?
Hey brother, I just came across your videos... I have a question... my daughter just bought a honda shadow 500,, I think it's a late 80's or so.... she just called me yesterday saying that when she's in 1st, that it just pops into neutral by itself..... it only happens when in 1st, and doesn't happen all the time.... please help......
Great channel just subscribed. I have a question. So I wasnt riding and I had a VTX 1800 which I got tired of playing musical chairs in the garage so i sold her. It didnt take long for sellers remorse to kick in so i went looking for a cheap bike and found a 70 year old man selling his 01 sabre which I bought. I plan on making it a bobber but it is so slow compared to my old VTX. My question is, is it worth sinking the money into the sabre to try and get more pep out of it or should I just look for another VTX? I know they're 2 totally different bikes but I thought the sabre was supposed to be the bad boy on the block back in the day. The 2 don't compare. Thanks!
My friends love to modify their bikes and cars always complaining they're to slow. I learned over the years from hands on and researching to death. Sell it and get the one you want. Save money and aggravation in the long run. Everyone needs to learn for themselves. My son did the same thing. Now he's grown and finally followed my advice. He's much happier now. You can hate all you want, this is the best advice your ever going to find. 🏍🏍🏍🙉🙈🙊 PS. The research and development teams and these technicians that have gone to school for years make the best stock equipment right out of the box no need to touch it. If 194 miles an hour does not tickle your fancy then you need to buy a rocket ship.
@@TJBRUTALCUSTOMS haha yeah I was kinda being sarcastic about the carb part lol but that's helpful information man I appreciate it! I'ma look into it more now
getting a bigger Shadow (1100) is gonna be way more cost effective than heavily modifying the poor 600 engine. The 600 is a really, REALLY nice bike (one of the best cruisers, IMO) but there's only so much you can ask from it
1994 Shadow 600 owner here, recently switched to a 16/40 sprocket setup, IMO it gives an extra 10 km/h limit on each gear (2nd revs nice up to 50 kph, 3rd revs up to 85-90, for instance) and it's SO MUCH BETTER for driving on the highway, at 120-130 kph. Yeah, the bike will be revved pretty hard but definitely an improvement over the stock gear ratio.
baffle removal can usually be done without tuning, but you likely wont see any performance increases. you would need to put open exhaust on and a less restrictive intake, followed by a tune to get any performance boosts.
I have a 2005 Honda Shadow Aero VT750C and want to get the maximum power out of it. By doing what you suggest, will I be able to perceive a substantial increase in performance other than increased noise levels or will it require a Dyno? How will it affect engine reliability and longevity? Will I pass State inspections with these Mods? This is my daily commuter to work and I really want much more power than stock has to offer but would I be better off buying a faster Motorcycle. That would suck since I recently bought it to return to the riding world after 27 years taking care of my family. Now it's my turn and I feel this bike is slow and calm for my desire to go fast. Don't want the fastest, just want something with balls. Great videos btw.
There are some things you can do to give your shadow balls. Look into a hyper charger and full exhaust. Changing sprockets can help. It all depends how far you want to go and what your budget is. Good luck!😎🏍️
I agree and disagree but I understand this is a video got the everyday person. Not for the guy thats doing what I am to my triumph 750. With complete rebuild, high compression pistons, race cams, larger carbs, and open exhaust. So I guess for what it is it's a good vid. Nice 🤘

I got the performance jet kit and velocity stacks a while back and picked up some of your back draft exhaust from a buddy. I got the 145 and 45 jets in and it idles great. The only issue I have is when I'm at 3/4 to wot. When I try to wot it seems like it's revving but no acceleration. Any idea?
If it's actually revving up, but speed doesn't increase, your clutch is slipping. I've heard the clutch springs are notorious for being too weak, especially if you tune or change sprockets.
hi i have a honda shadow 1100c2 imported from japan with a top speed on speedo of 180km and a friend has one from europe with a top speed of 220km i've heard that this is due to how the crank is made as there are 2 types one with the off sett big ends and the other inline. is this the reason why please?
Very likely. The 1100 ACE series (iirc) have a single-pin crank, making them sound very close to the Harley potato-potato idle, while the rest of the models are dual-pin and give off more performance
But velocity stacks can easily make the carburetors dirty right?? I Got a dual carb 07 spirit 750 with aftermarket air intake and short shots straight pipes. It pops on deceleration. What's the right size rejet Kit for me??

What would you suggest on my 2002 Vt1100 spirit ?.. It is stock i want to do air and resize the stock carb jet to something that gives me enough power to run with the 5th gear with no issue because right now it backfires and i am a bigger guy so yk how it is lol... please let me know what i should get
My 2006 750DC came with surprisingly small jets, I want to say 106/108 & 40 mains? With a 4* timing advance, 110/112 jets & 42 mains, K&N drop-in, and Cobra Slashcuts; I think I've tuned it slightly conservatively. Would you up the jetting at all? I'm in central TX; high temps & high humidity usually. Right now I cruise 70-80MPH no issues, no backfiring ever. I feel like I should re-jet just to un-stagger the sizing, which I realize now is an emissions/EPA thing...
I understand people really love their bikes. And the shadow is a good looking bike and they do ride really well. But if you're really looking for more power and want to stay with a Honda wouldn't make sense to move to like a VTX 1300 or 1800? The mods you are gong to have to put into these shadows (to still make less power) would probably cost as much as a nice used VTX 1800. I mean I get wanting to keep your bike, but at some point it seems like you're fighting a losing battle . Just my two cents guys.
I understand upsizeing and if that's all it is go for it. I'm partial to the Vulcan 8 & 9s myself but, these Bikes are cheap and plentiful which makes them perfect to customize.
That's pretty much what I did. I started with Shadow 750s and 1100s, but now I riding a VTX 1300, which has a ton of power, but, it's quite a bit heavier. I like the fact that it holds the road way better on long runs, but I miss the nimble handling of the 750s I had. I may just get a 600 VLX or 750 Spirit to bob and use for local running around.
Hey bud I was going to ask if I take my airbox off and put it an open air filter on there you know is it going to hurt when I ride in the rain is it going to suck water in my carburetor?
Go from a 750 to a 1100, always look at going up in size first saves u a ton of specialist work, also look to the twin pin, eg vt 1100 ace tourer then take off panniers etc to reduce wait
There is no rev limiter or governor of any kind on that bike. You can twist the throttle until show blows up, if you want. Unless I'm misunderstanding you. I have a 2003 Honda Shadow ACE 750, same as yours.
I was interested in buying a honda shadow but I can't find the top speed anywhere. Do any of you guys know what the top speed on it is? I'm used to riding my 600 and cruising at 120.
I had both. More power with the chain that's what you want. Have you ever had a bike with a chain? Constantly adjusting, lubrication pain in the ass. I don't know if you can convert one. Do a search on the web. That's what I would do. You can get the bike of your dreams and be done with it. Mods never ends.

I'm near Bowling Green, KY. I have a 2002 Honda Shadow A.C.E. 750 I'm wanting to increase power and performance. It's currently all stock. I like the looks of the stock exhaust and air cleaner. I'd like to go to 10" chrome handle mini apes as well which I've read can use stock cables. Can you lead me in the right direction?
Rob
well the stock exhaust is restrictive. you can still have the stock air cleaner showing but run stacks. if you want power and performance stock stuff really wont cut it. youll need stacks, open pipies and to tune the carbs properly. for bars theres no magic formula. i recommend watching this video to determine how long of cables youll need - ruclips.net/video/ZJbspsIuyaQ/видео.html
Would you be able to do a video on performance upgrades for a ‘12 Shadow, fuel injected not carbed
Would be so helpful
Good work on the video mate was very helpful
Rear mudguard and bars too...just rode home from a funeral in the pouring rain and my back was fucking drenched... all this shit to do and so little time :-)
I have a 2006 Honda sabre 1100cc looking forward to changing my wheels and making it quiet its to loud when I brought it
Yep I too want to be able to hear myself think
Do you have a video for the install of a power commander on a shadow phantom
@tjbrutalcustoms if I only open one or the other intake or exhaust will I still need to rejet my carb? Thanks you in advance for the help. Love your content.
I have a '09 750c2 spirit, 2" corbra drag pipes w/6" BCT monster baffles(14" stock baffles removed) AIS removed, installed TJ brutal block off plates ,installed a 4X6" round air cleaner and a stage 5 jet kit, have not touched the A/F screw. The bike runs like a bat out of hell! Do I need to mess with the A/F mixture screw?
I have a 1996 honda shadow vt 1100 I have to rebuild the motor due to having a small hole in the crankcase and also the bike I was told had sat out side for years .I am going to turn it into a bobber and wondering what aftermarket goods I can put on it to make the bike scream not wanting a drag bike like the one guy has but I nice second look at it when at the bike rallies from the Harley riders
i got a rejet kit and plan to cut the baffles out but how can i do a intake without a velocity stack?
Shifting it skips a gear next
; most of the times it won't let me go into 5th gear.
That’s weird I could swear when mine shifts into 5th I can’t tell a difference, what the heck’s going on? Lol
Sounds like the clutch got stretched out and opened up from all the gang bangs and caboose rides from the backdoor
Are there cams you can get for an 1100 that would be better than stock?
Would it be better to supercharge an engine or open it up with a velocity stack
@@TJBRUTALCUSTOMS thanks man, love your content, your the most helpful for everyone with a 750
Will you offer any stacks for the vt1100?
How would you suggest tuning an EFI (2013 RS) with you exhaust and velocity stack combo
get something from dynatek or cobra. they make decent stuff.
Love this channel
Thanks!
I have the infamous 3rd gear...do you have a 3rd gear for sale? or a good idea of a fix for it? My last resort is weld on new dog ears
How do you change the CDI ignition module on a 2003 Shadow Sprit c3 to get more speed.
@@TJBRUTALCUSTOMS appreciate you, thanks
My friends love to modify their bikes and cars always complaining they're to slow. I learned over the years from hands on and researching to death. Sell it and get the one you want. Save money and aggravation in the long run. Everyone needs to learn for themselves.
My son did the same thing. Now he's grown and finally followed my advice. He's much happier now. You can hate all you want, this is the best advice your ever going to find.
🏍🏍🏍🙉🙈🙊
PS. The research and development teams and these technicians that have gone to school for years make the best stock equipment right out of the box no need to touch it. If 194 miles an hour does not tickle your fancy then you need to buy a rocket ship.
I'd like to know about hyperchargers and turbo setups for the shadow 750
Same. I've been trying to find a hypercharger for my 01 750 ace.
So what if you got one of the newer bikes and it's fuel injected? Still open the breath in and out? Can't really just mess with a carb lol
@@TJBRUTALCUSTOMS haha yeah I was kinda being sarcastic about the carb part lol but that's helpful information man I appreciate it! I'ma look into it more now
Wish there were a big bore kit and aftermarket cams for my 600 VLX....
Maybe nitrous?!? 😨
Find a machine shop to have it done
getting a bigger Shadow (1100) is gonna be way more cost effective than heavily modifying the poor 600 engine.
The 600 is a really, REALLY nice bike (one of the best cruisers, IMO) but there's only so much you can ask from it
How much more horse power can I expect to gain with the largest size jets & drilling out the exhaust baffles on a stock 2005 Honda Shadow Areo VT750C?
What about changing gear ratio on chain drive... what's top speed with about as stock as possible tuning for now?
1994 Shadow 600 owner here, recently switched to a 16/40 sprocket setup, IMO it gives an extra 10 km/h limit on each gear (2nd revs nice up to 50 kph, 3rd revs up to 85-90, for instance) and it's SO MUCH BETTER for driving on the highway, at 120-130 kph.
Yeah, the bike will be revved pretty hard but definitely an improvement over the stock gear ratio.
Got a 1998 honda shadow ace 1100 need more power and can i take out baffles on my pipes with out doing anything to my bike
baffle removal can usually be done without tuning, but you likely wont see any performance increases. you would need to put open exhaust on and a less restrictive intake, followed by a tune to get any performance boosts.
tj do you do anything with sprocket changes in conjunction with these mods i'm leaning ftwards putting a 17/38 set myself I have a 2006 spirit 750
Nice 🤘
@@TJBRUTALCUSTOMS yeah I got the trumpet lol for 4k and buy the time the engine is built ill have 4k in the motor alone with everything.its a do it b/c you love it kinda thing. Not to make money kinda thing. Also it's nice putting the Harley guy in there place lol jk jk
I'm wanting to buy from you TJ. I also want help considering I can't find what I'm looking for to pair with what I already plan to order. I'm trying to use the contact me feature. but I don't have a confirmation email with an order number because I haven't ordered yet. Help!!

Tuning dual carbs is the one time it may not be a good time for a bucket of cold ones.
Or it is, and every other time as well
How does these apply to EFI models?
We are so sorry but the only information we provide can be found on our RUclips channel and on the support page of our website.
I've hit 115 2 times on my with stage 2 jets
nice!
what about modifying intake and exhaust with a fuel injected motor? will it still need a tune?
I don't see any velocity stacks for the sabre 1100 on your page... Why?
Carbjetkits calculator worked spot on on my 1100. I have a k&n filter with straight pipes. 45 idle jet, 2 needle shims, and 188 main jet. I also bought a bunch of other main jets from 180-192 in case I move somewhere higher in elevation or put a cam in the bike or something
Fuck man mi e was WAY off. It told me for a wide open intake with wide open pipes, 112/115... I'm on 130/132 now and it's alrighr
I may just get a 600 VLX or 750 Spirit to bob and use for local running around.
does a dual carb setup get more performance then running a single carb?
At high rpms yes, much more air flow. They switched to the single carb on newer bikes to get rid of the fuel pump
I have honda shadow vt400 open exhaust which custom carb u can advice me to get more power
Or u advice me jetting the carb?
use the stock carbs and open exhaust
I ride a stock Harley Sportster xl1200, 60 hp. Runs all legal speed limits , it’s a 1996 model 😂
Hey bud I was going to ask if I take my airbox off and put it an open air filter on there you know is it going to hurt when I ride in the rain is it going to suck water in my carburetor?
Calebgearheadz . Can a Harley engine be installed on Shadow frame
What about the 4 degree timing mod, I can't find where you talk about it, 01 vt750dc.
Thats cause he didnt😏
Any advice on adding either a turbo or a supercharger onto a 2002 Honda shadow 750 ACE?
Go from a 750 to a 1100, always look at going up in size first saves u a ton of specialist work, also look to the twin pin, eg vt 1100 ace tourer then take off panniers etc to reduce wait
TJ! When could we start seeing honda shadow phantom performance mods (Fuel injected) :D
I'm looking for the same. It also seems unlikely at the moment to do any aftermarket handle bars.
Jeremy Owens right?
Hey my bro is there a way to bypass or eliminate the Rev limited on a 2002 Shadow vt 750 ace? Without buying a programer! Lol Thanks man!
There is no rev limiter or governor of any kind on that bike. You can twist the throttle until show blows up, if you want. Unless I'm misunderstanding you. I have a 2003 Honda Shadow ACE 750, same as yours.
@@Flabbycakes same here you can crank it till it grenades.. Nothing electronic there..

Juan Espinoza 120mph? You ain't cruising at that speed on a VT750.
Lol
He just described a good woman ! 🤓
what can you do with the new rebel 500's that are fuel injected?
Get the ECU flashed is a good start
Can shaft be changed to chain drive 1993 vt1100
I had both. More power with the chain that's what you want. Have you ever had a bike with a chain? Constantly adjusting, lubrication pain in the ass. I don't know if you can convert one. Do a search on the web. That's what I would do. You can get the bike of your dreams and be done with it. Mods never ends.
do you offer something to help keep dust from being sucked into the stacks (filter)
thanks for the reply-I was checking for preventive issues
Hey man I've been watching all your videos and have been on your website but I wanna do somthing with my exhaust I just can't find an aftermarket one I have a vt800
First of love your videos and your products!!! Just thought I would throw out some less simple more extensive ways to get more power... this is what I did to mine and I’m in love 😍😍
ATF high compression piston and cam kit
Porter heads
Cobra full flow exhaust(came on the bike when I bought it but realllllly want one of your exhaust just short on funds at the moment 😭)
Free flowing intake
Jetting main 128 pilot 45
Dyna coils
Tunable ecu similar to dyna 3000
Tuned with Apox 3 deg advanced with a more aggressive curve
And the best thing I bought was a wide band O2 sensor with a pipe sniffer to help me tune the carbs.... makes for a great fun bike cost a bit to do but worth every penny!!! If any one else has that piston kit I’d love to know how you like it!! Keep up all the good videos and product and ride fast and take chances!
I have a 2005 Honda Shadow Aero VT750C. Today I really opened it up full throttle to see how it would perform against an Harley Davidson 1800cc. It moped the floor with me so badly I must have a faster bike or make mine faster. So the question is, just how much faster can I make my Honda Shadow go. I think just to keep up with my friend, I'll need a different bike.

What about efi
That's not this video. Lol! I hate efi, but you would need to get a fuel controller to map your efi system. Way less fun.
Volumetric efficiency
I just ordered your backdraft exhaust for my 06 honda shadow spirit 750, I ordered the dual carb performance tuning kit and the exhaust gaskets with it as suggested when I added the pipes to the cart. Is that good enough for the bike to run properly, or did I need the velocity stacks?
