'offering a brilliant view of Crystal Palace'?? Wish my eyesight were that good!
I say "Crystal Palace", in The London Borough of Bromley including the transmitter, not "The Crystal Palace", which as you said burnt down in 1936.
The camera is only 720p - the resolution of your eye is allot more than that and it is easily visible to the eye.
I was under the impression that the Crystal Palace burnt down in 1936. Thus viewing it in 2012 would be somewhat difficult.
