Segovia is the name of a city in Spain. It has a very well preserved roman aqueduct and a castle that looks a bit disney-esque. It's been funny for me since the 90s
Yes!!!! Zephyr singer is definitely one of the cards that flew (ha) under the radar for Aftermath! Such a cool little card, showing the power of convoke in non green/white colors, but tying it into blue giving the convoked creatures flying counters, which is very Ikoria! Love the card! Awesome job once again Luca, you're the best!!
It's crazy it wasn't picked up sooner! It's so sleeper that I thought it was in aftermath for a second until I was like "didn't I draft one of these?" What a cool card :)
I was surprised to not see Protect the Negotiators in conjunction with make disappear for a bit more lategame stopping power as well as accenting the token strategy a bit better.
Wanted to make room for it, but couldn't find the slots. It's also pretty clunky when facing something like monored. Definitely nice to have as an option in the 75 for sideboarded games.
15:45 I don't think Godric's celebration would actually be triggered here. The token from monstrous rage would be the only permanent that entered the battlefield for the opponent that turn. The only other thing they did was activate foundry.
awesome deck against meta (12-6). Thanks for this. I switched a veteran for an Invasion of Gobakhan and few times I had this card in my opening hand I won because of this siege.
This deck is really fun. Pretty good too. I added a couple werefoxes and quick studies to play at instant speed a bit more and have been having a lot of success. You are rarely out of the game as you can pull some huge stuff off once you start convoking
Great content as usual. By the way, if you were to make an Azorius token deck in Historic Brawl which commander would you pick? Kinda interested in trying stuff like this in that format.
Probably the one from dominaria that lets you tap two creatures when you cast an instant/sorcery to draw a card. Can’t remember the name off the top of my head
25:45 The Sea Tyrant of Segovia untap is redundant if Virtue is down, I've been using a version with Mondrak and Tocasia's Welcome, and just cancel the untap phase. So good having Wanderer or counter up with 0 lands untapped.
Negotiators and other counterspells for control, Smite and Dennick for aggro, planeswalkers like Teferi, Elspeth and Eternal Wanderer for those grindy matchups.
It would be interesting to see the reactions from the other players because some of the openings look like you are playing either Mono White or a Soldiers and then the Segovia drops in. I can see them now being thrown off their plan, scratching their heads saying "huh?"
I've been giving this a go out of curiosity as I already had all the cards. I wonder what time LVD plays to get some favorable matchups. Anytime I play this all I encounter is removal.deck and I can't remember a single game where my opponents didn't go spot removal > spot removal > spot removal > oh here's another 3 board wipes on top. Can barely get over 50% win rate with. I think I need to add 2 more counter spells because I'm getting nowhere with this deck.
Yes, if you have 24h/per day to play ranked it is worth it, otherwise not. Playing for a few hours only to advance 1-2 pips becomes extremely unsatisfactory, at which point I'd rather switch to draft or stick to the play queue.
@@mariand.1087 So that's why you play monored, instead of enjoying a good deck? These 1-2 extra packs per month look more important to you. I don't play 24/h per day, nor play monored nor monowhite, and still make diamond, sometimes mythic. And monored has ... 56% win rate?
@@LaurentCassaro I play all colors and all archetypes in standard, with a preference for midrange decks. For ranking up I like decks that with a good knowledge of the card pool can provide a steady push through platinum and/or diamond to clear the division in a few sittings. This deck is very fun to play but once I clear two subdivisions in a row (like go from plat3 to 1), due to the MMR increase I am then paired with mostly control decks for which 4x make disappears rarely matter and then win rate plummets. When that happens I switch to a new deck and try to find a better answer to my matchups, or just stick to the play queue for a few days to cool off. So I am not hating on the deck, I actually like it very much, but I was trying to point out that getting to do "the thing" with it comes up maybe 1/10 matches, while the rest of the 9 are just an uphill battle to get some kind of board presence going specifically against mono red or control.
Hey Legend, why would you run 26 lands in a deck like this with low mana costs, potential convoke payoffs, and no cycling/card draw/board wipes that control would usually run to afford the 26 lands?
We have Mirrex as a manasink alongside the various adventures which are also 5-drops. Wedding Announcement can also draw extra cards so there's no shortage of ways to spend all that mana. Missing an early land drop is also a death sentence in this deck, since many threats scale with our board presence.
I've been trying to brew an izzet segovia deck, since red makes it much easier to flip thr battle, but you lack the X spell payoffs like Invasion of NP.
First time that I built around it I also went with Blue/Red. A lack of quality tokens made with noncreature spells makes convoke a little less exciting in those colors.
Would it be possible for a deck where Invasion of Segovia is basically an extra 4 copies of Mindsplice Apparatus to work, or would it be splitting the strategies too thin? More X spells, mass token generation, etc?
I think they go in distinctly different decks unless we get a critical mass of instant speed token makers with X in their mana cost, which I don't see happening any time soon.
Honestly I just don't think mono red really wants Mishra's foundry in Bo1. Mono-red has a surprising amount of color requirements, from double spelling 1 drops, to RR on Godric, to the fire breathing ability. More games will be lost to color screw than will be won with the land. Especially with the lower total land counts mono red usually employs.
Invasion of Segovia is one of those cards I’ve always wanted to build around but had difficulty pulling it off, I’m excited to see this video!

I just wanted to say your aggro artifacts deck was the quickest climb to diamond I could imagine!
Glad to hear!

Good point!
Love this deck! Seeing Invasion of Segovia and Invasion of New Phyrexia in action was very cool.
Been using this deck all week and it is the truth, thanks LVD!
Great to hear!

Poor 2nd opponent losing to autotapper, it's so bad with lands that have activated abilities, you really have to be careful.
Cool looking deck. A solid performance and a lot of fun games. Thanks.

28:13 So yeah, ridiculousness ensues
Game 2 is proof of why you should just doublecheck the auto tap solution.
I had a deck like this that splashed Green for Join The forces and Gala Greeter. White Virtue makes me want to make the deck again
Oh hey, I built a version of this deck and it worked pretty well, even with the Jank!
I really like the battle cards.

Lets gooo, LVD time!

You could technically squeeze in an extra instant like the Knight from Virtue if you cast it in between the two untaps.
amazing as always
Great deck and tons of fun. Any suggestions on good additions for a best-of-3 version of this deck?

"Can barely get over 50%"
That's all you need 😅

some hatebear elements
that add to the board, but also disrupt, like Invasion of Gobakhan and Anointed Peacekeeper

Nice, gonna try right now
I have been a fan of the turn 2 bunicorn into segovia turn 3 instant 4/4 bunny that can kill battle unless they block or kill it.
Thanks! This deck took me from Platinum 3 to Mythic in 2 days! 65% win rate (78% on play) with 88 matches!!! @legendvd
Nice work!

@@LegenVD Darn. Loved both Segovia and Mindsplice decks on the channel but 4-of doesn't seem good enough for the strategy, at least with Mindsplice.
bro your deck is ridiculous lol on match 3
I had both of these battles in sealed once. That deck didn’t do as well as LVD’s. 😂
Squee's token may trigger celebration for Godric. Be careful with that.

Definitely don't want 4 copies, but including a few still has a positive impact on overall winrate according to the data.
i miss the onto da naxt guan :(
43:40 Why'd this highlight Veteran?
