I wonder why nobody applauded for the demonstration. He went from wheel chair bound to clearly standing upright, and walking back and forth. What a technological miracle
because they know better.
Probably because it's extremely cumbersome and early stages of this tech that allow the person to walk little better than if he were to have the current production prosthetic legs that have no battery packs to walk with. They 'walk' with crutches as well, only by swinging the legs from side to side. I see the miracle that we all want to see from sci-fi being in about 5, maybe 10 years (hopefully sooner for folks like this). We already have arms and hands that move via brain waves and small muscle movements! Why not legs!.

I am already working on the creation of a more advanced ekzokostima for people with oranicheniyami physical abilities.
I plan in September 2019 to show the prototype in public after patenting. Only a literate programmer is needed to create algorithms for the movement of bone.
By yet it will be automatically automated due to the cost of the dates and the complexity of creating a budget model, but there will be manual semi automatic control.
Now I'm working on his modeling with drawings and he made it cheaper because of some tricky decisions.
The presentation will be in Russia most likely, there will also be the center of the company most likely.
If everything turns out to be, forget about the bones of the navceda, as the suit itself will keep balance by guiding the spine.
Cost of the costume will be about 3000 euros for the sample with the highest load capacity of 120kg.
For other weight categories, the cost will be lower.
If it's expensive, then it's because of expensive motherboards that updates will come and eventually a voice assistant will have access to all modes of the suit and will remember the passed road as it will be connected to GPS satellites to return home in automatic mode. The accumulators just do not know how much to rasschitivat. According to my estimates, somewhere around 6 kilometers must be enough, but if not, we will expand. Of all the cool things I saw at CES this was the best. This thing changes lives.
Would be amazing to see my 50-year old brother walk for the first time. One of the problems is that he is totally dependent on other people to do basic things -- like getting out of bed, going to the bathroom and so on. He also loves to travel, and technology like this would really help the rest of the family with the heavy lifting.

Every technical advance is a double-edged sword.
Take for example a knife.
You can stick it in someone's heart or make your child a sandwich with it.
The knife is neither good nor bad. It depends on the people who use it.
That's the way it is with nearly every technique.

@@waynefilkins8394 I think walking naturally is just a matter of computing power, which is growing exponentially. So probably not a big deal. Look how the robot "Atlas" by Boston Dynamics is allready walking. If his skill could be applied to a lamed human, that would be a good progress.
This will be great for everyone that needs it.
A good choice to fill in the gap until Stem Cells and Spine / Nerve Repair BioTech is perfected.

At this point it would actually be cheaper to get stem cell treatment (although only possible in Panama at the moment), and stem cells do mean you regain full body function.
But stem cells can't fix life long injuries so this will be a good second choice.

Brilliant. I can't wait to see how they advance in the next 5 years. My nephew was born 6 months ago with spina bifida and will likely never be able to walk on his own, but seeing this gives me hope he will be able to do the things we take for granted everyday.

I did because 3 quarters of the video is wasted as we sit and watch him adjust , plug -in , fiddle around instead of getting to the point and spend more time watching him stand , walk and maneuver .

I think it might not be able to push back. What it can do is lift the leg forward at the hip while keeping the knee loose and then when it reaches the ground the knee joint becomes rigid. So, its basically lifting the legs forward. The knee joint needs to be powered so it can forcefully bend backward.

That's awesome... cant believe people give this a thumbs down. Sure he is using the crutches to balance but this is probably the beginning stages of the invention. Give it some time they will perfect this. Who knows maybe even with prolonged use and practice you can get the balance right.
Well, people have this neat little thing called eyes. What they do is read and see, and the video title/thumbnail looked promising, so we thought we'd see a short explanation and a demonstration. All we got was a guy fiddling with it and walking for around 1/4th-1/3rd of the video to the tune of loud royalty free music.

This video was very intense, made me almost cry. I got a paralyzed friend from a car accident and I would love being able to give him such a marvelllous thing, and take a walk in the park as we used to do. That would definitively make also me the happiest man in the planet.

It made me cry . I've got many years without walking
Doesn't it have self stabilisation so it can function by it self or stabilise the wearer.
That would need to be a more advanced system, because we balance with our entire bodies not just legs.
Perhaps, but just because someone loses the ability to use their limbs does not mean they loose their ability to balance, we see many people in wheel chair balance quite well, however the device itself often has trouble balancing.
So any self balancing system for replacing legs just needs the device to balance itself the user will also balance themselves and you will get interaction between the machine and the user.
So a device like this could probably make use of a self balancing gyro from radio shack or something along those lines that are used in radio controlled quad copters.
Those things are pretty good at balancing things out, add something like this to the motorised legs and link them to the drives of the legs and you have instant instinctive balance pretty much the same as we do when we have our natural legs.
For example: When we stand with normal legs if we start to lose balance we counter it by stepping in the direction of our balance loss, this tends to counter the balance issue our brain does this automatically no computing or anything, these legs could pretty much do the same by adding a gyro of this type as it is designed to counter balance loss by moving in the direction of the loss of balance to counter the loss, once stable it levels out.
The mechanical legs could do pretty much the same thing, so long as the motors can adjust fast enough to accept the counter command, the human user would also adapt very quickly as their own inner ear gyro would interact with their sensations.
It's just a thought and if I were in a position to test this out I would.
I believe those quad copter gyros are grossly under used in this type of tech as it offers a huge amount of flexibility, for sure you don't need elevation though that could be used in aiding the mech legs user to use it for rising out of a seat and lowering into a seat more efficiently and natural.
I believe they use these types of gyros in Electric unicycles as well so if they can keep people balanced on an electric unicycle I'm sure they could be used in this application to enhance a pair of mech legs.
You need feedback to balance, when you're paralyzed, you have no feedback. Just think about how you walk if your leg falls asleep, you limp even though functionally, your leg is performing the same. It's because you don't have feedback. Walking may come easy, but there's actually a lot of complex things going on when you walk. There is no way for the device to balance itself properly for a lot of reasons, it would require the legs to operate independently, which means you'd be forced to take steps forward/backward that you didn't intend to take, in order to correct imbalances, which would result in a loss of precision and you'd walk like you're drunk, and would probably result in feedback loops that cause you to constantly be shifting around, which would require a much more robust mechanical system.
Imagine for example you're standing over a counter cutting vegetables, and the legs suddenly walk backward in order to correct your balance. That would interrupt your activity. And the legs don't even do that, he's controlling everything from the canes. There's a button on the canes that send a signal to tell the legs to take a step. There's basically a 'stand up', 'sit down', and 'step forward' function, and that's it. So when he puts his cane in position to balance, he presses the button and it steps his leg forward. He's not really walking with his legs, he's walking with the canes.

Ok I don't know why I wasn't informed of your response but now I see it I can reply.
First off, people who have motion who can walk by themselves are constantly correcting their position when standing still, if you don't believe me just watch them.
They do what is known as fidget shifting, they shift their weight from one side to the other sometimes forward sometimes backwards even taking a step in either direction all to keep balance unnoticed as we all do it.
So any device that was made in conjunction with this could incorporate mechanical fidget shifting, this could simply be a system that has a central location and as the central location goes out of balance a small motion would be induced to correct the imbalance.
Now of course if you put that central location as a fixed direct spot, you will get issues however if you put it as a tolerance ie say from the center location 5% in either direction it would allow for small anomalies in the person actual balance.
Remember as I said before just because you lose the ability to walk does not mean you lose the ability to balance yourself.
It also would need a careful selection of power rating for each leg based on the bodies weight, if notice legs tend to function based on weight, the fatter the person the slower they move unless injuries are noted, and we are not talking about power lifters or sports people.
Anyway just watch someone cutting something at a counter how much they shift their weight around, it's quite a lot, either at the hips or moving the feet around, sometimes they actually lean against the top to stabilise themselves.
As for feedback that is a simple one to overcome.
You fit an electronic clutch system to the joints which I might add are not that expensive, which would allow any small impacts to be smoothed out.
So let's say the person wearing it, was fidgeting, but then for some reason the programming decided to over step, the electronic clutch would compensate by allowing the joint to simply slip, a bit like a human hip or joint does now that small movement of the joint allows for imperfections in the human bodies stance without over compensating.
My mom was a paraplegic during the last few years. This brings a tear to my eye

Eventually, there will be ways to get the cost down like cheaper materials and easier manufacturing. It won't be dirt cheap, but hopefully enough affordable for those who need it(PWDs and People who need it for rehab).

That's awesome. Just being able to go to the bathroom by yourself , has to be a great feeling. Technology can only move forward from here. Until the day we can repair spinal cord injuries, this is another step forward.
