I think that specifically *not* making the arms to look human is a great idea, since when you see those, it is clearly obvious that they are not natural, and the whole thing just plummets into the uncanny valley. This product on the other hand (no pun intended) by looking mechanical, rather than natural, creates a completely different first impression. Instead of seeing a disabled person with a prosthesis, you see a person with a freaking robot arm
The uncanny valley is an effect hat applies mainly in human faces. I'm not sure that it would be the same with arms and hands. A cool-looking bionic arm could draw unwanted attention to you due to being incredibly obvious whereas an almost life-like imitation would be much less conspicuous.
I disagree, take a look at 2:33 for example, I think the "human like" prosthetic looks horrendous, nevermind the coloration difference. I might be biased through scifi pop culture but the mechanical prostethic shown in this video looks absolutely rad, something I am sure I could stand for instead of being ashamed of whatever freaklike apparatus covered in "human skin".

If we can keep lowering the prices for these, we could help a lot of people.
its all about mas producing the electrical components, once the prototype stage is done they should be able to get the price down a long way by bulk ordering the components
and the fact that one probably takes 2-3 days on the printer to finish all the parts, once they can invest in more printers then the price will drop even more
I think $80 to $70 would be ok.
This would be amazing. My brother has a prosthetic leg and the prizes for each leg are several thousand euros. Gladly we have a good healthcare system, otherwise my brother wouldn't be able to walk.
Curves Net I saw somewhere that it costs $7K. I think $70 - $80 is really devaluing a bionic arm.
This is all great and inspiring. Please keep up the good work. My brother is fighting ever day. Miracle survivor of a motorcycle accident. Lost the use of his right arm and hand but refuses to cauterize the nerves in hopes to one day regaining back control over them. Hardest working man I know and to have the use of his hand back would mean the world. I’m aware that this video is regarding amputees and I’m praying for their recovery. If ever your company develops a glove exercise device that stimulates or coordinates with nerve commands, my brother would be the perfect candidate.

This is pretty awesome! I have been an arm powered prosthetic user for my whole life and have done very well. However, I am so used to it that it is hard to make the transition to a bionic arm.. If you payed attention the arm is controlled by nero sense that means you dont need to cut your arm for it. If anything ask for an arm armor that acts the same. one with really strong material that is hard to pierce and shock absorbent from inside to avoid damage to your actual hand when you punch hard surfaces like steel wood and concrete at full force. With sensor technology that when you think about it. It happens. Like a blade coming out of it or some claws etc. Use your imagination even an electrical discharged punch.

I think with stuff like this what they're doing is great. The next step is to not just fix but improve from a regular hand. Think of the possibilities. An example of this is doc oc's suit. Obviously that's not happening any time soon but it would be really cool

Sure, if they can afford it. Also, Deaf people don't necessarily like cochlear implants much. Should those be mandatory? Who decides what is a disability and what people must be able to do? What if someone is unable to wear one of these prostheses for some reason, maybe allergies etc as an example? What if someone is immunocompromised or something and the procedure to implant a device could prove deadly? Many wheelchair-liberated people use a wheelchair due to something other than paralysis or a visible injury. There are lots of problems I can foresee under this ableist social order, capitalism, and authoritarianism. There are plenty already. We should focus on eradicating ableism rather than disability. How accessible is the internet, what do you think? How many RUclips videos have proper captions? End ableism now!
