    I've never heard such a vocal opening to a symphony. Chorale style/anthem-like writing. The ensemble feels like it's "singing" more than playing. Amazing 0_o!

    This is easily the best interpretation I have ever heard of this piece. I really like how you and the conductor make sure to look at each other to make sure that you are in sync. The blend of the organ and the orchestra is also perfect in my opinion. Your registrations are also on a different level. Basically what I am saying is, can you teach me how to play organ?
    Edit: I like how he smiles through the entire thing like, "Yeah I know I'm a boss." You ARE the boss!!

    Somewhere it should be noted that the original version of this symphony was for organ alone, one of Widor's ten "organ symphonies." This is an arrangement - I'm sure not by Widor - for orchestra and organ.

      Gary McWithey Widor himself! He arranged this as a 3 movement symphony, using the first and last from Symphony 6 as the bookends and the Andante from Symphony 2 for the middle.

    Am I to understand by the lack of sheet music that the organist has this MEMORIZED?

    • @ClintonMeyerushkev
      @ClintonMeyerushkev 5 лет назад +8

      Absolutely positively correct. Behind the brilliant, inspired performance is more hard work than most of us can imagine.
      I took pipe organ lessons for years. Played for countless weddings.
      Yet I wasn't even in the minor leagues compared to Mr. Kerswell.
      I saw the concert in person.
      Now i listen to it again and again and again.
      There is an energy that comes off this piece that only listening to it can describe.

      Wonderful performance by everyone!!!! Concert pianists like Martha Argerich memorizes most all of her concerts that she performs at. In my very humble opinion, the artist is never able to fully pour his or her heart and soul into the performance if any part of the brain is bothered with reading notes on the printed music, that is always going to hinder the emotion that can be brought to the performance. God Bless Olaf!!!! Right now I am going to listen to Abide With Me..... ruclips.net/video/kkXI-8no9ZE/видео.html

      The style of trim under the keydesk going to the base of the console makes me think its a Rodgers product actually. BTW, Who is the original builder of the pipe organ?

    fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles-Marie_Widor Vu qu' il n' est pas des plus connu, une petite excursion s' impose
    NB: Je regrette que les radios (FM) ne voient pas plus large .... (Pour faire de l' audimat ???)
    C' est quand même St-Saëns qui m' a fait découvrir ce marige équitable entre orgue et orchestre.
