Ah, that explains a lot. I see the televised version has bonus cartoons in there originally. When it came to the Mini-Classics release on VHS in 1989, this was naturally not so there. It was the song “I’m a Happy Go Lucky Fellow” pulled directly from the “Fun and Fancy Free” movie itself, while the story of “Bongo” came from here. Thus, it was a combination of the film and the televised version they presented on that VHS release

What a jerk I am, I thought Cliff Edwards sang the song not an animated insect. What a pure beautiful voice. Too bad he was another casualty of the American dream. Great video thanks very much for sharing.

🤣🤣We all love Cliff! Glad Disney honored him in the end.

Segments of this Disneyland TV episode were featured on ‘The Story Behind Fun and Fancy Free’. They used the same ending on the documentary, where Jiminy Cricket walks out of the window and says “Bye Now!”

Wish I had kept Jiminy Cricket "on my shoulder" throughout ALL of my life, but he's now back where he belongs w/ his message: "Let your conscience be your guide." Walt Disney had an immeasurable positive impact on those of us fortunate enough to have grown up w/ his show. *like Jiminy's message to be "happy go lucky" too; a good way to be

That’s fantastic! Thanks for sharing your memories….Walt’s message of conscience being your guide is still influencing all those who let the magic of Walt into their hearts!

Except, the original version of "Bongo" was narrated by Dinah Shore, whereas here, it's narrated by Jiminy Cricket himself, although you can find this version on videotape; it was released as part of the Disney Mini-Classics line of videos.
