The CBC in Canada aired a program called "This Hour Has Seven Days" but I think it's much more clever that Channel 7 would pull the similar "This Week Has Seven Days" with that being their channel number.
@quizmaster85 Oh I just found out what it is! "Email Limited" was the name of an appliance company in Australia! "Email" was an acronym-- it had nothing to do with what we think of as email today!! LOL!
The electronic tones heard before the Paul Hogan Show promo were also used by the American Broadcasting Company TV network (ABC in the U.S.) from about the early 1960s to the early 1970s to introduce show promos after a network show was over.
The dissolves from one overlay to another at the end of "This Week Has 7 Days" was reminiscent of the dissolves between slides at CBS (and WCBS-TV) in New York for many years, through the early 1980's. Did HSV7 have the same switchers/equipment as CBS, pray tell?
interesting too that Hannan's ad... the ladies are probably tired and irritable from washing dad's dirty overalls because they'd just been shaking the asbestos off them before washing them!
Just found out the football promo is actually from September 1971. Richmond and Collingwood (the two teams in the promo) played in the first semi final on the Saturday after the show went to air.
Fabulous collection there from Pres. That theme from 'This Week...' was one of my favorites (Don't happen to know what 'library collection' that came from do you?) Also, the Paul Hogan Promo was most likely done at ATN as it has the voice of Max Rowley (I think I remember his name...). The slogan 'Prices so low...etc, was used in NSWs for Retravision. Finally, WOW strange thing, I'm listening to Burt Bacharach as I type this - would love to get a hold of that SPECIAL, great stuff! More please!
“The Maze” was a Hollywood horror film from 1953 about a scary old family castle where a very aged ancestor was secretly kept - and the ancestor was a giant frog, which is shown at the end of this promo. It was originally filmed and shown in 3-D.
That's an accurate date and time estimate. Old Melbourne TV Week and TV Times magazines assist re broadcast air dates. I believe some of this HSV7 Melbourne videotape TV material was retrieved from an industrial waste bin decades later by an archive TV enthusiast.
this was broadcast in september 1974 a fortnight before the grand final
For three and a half minutes I was transported in a time machine back to a magical time. I was a young boy of 10. thank you.

1:20 - I never knew they had "email" in 1974!

Email is French for enamel.

I think it was Donny Rainsford on the football promo and ATN 7's Max Rowley on the Paul Hogan show promo.
David Johnston retired a couple of years ago. His last job was reading the national 4.30 news for Seven.

This was before The Paul Hogan Show was moved to Channel 9 in 1977.
Thanks for that info - I've always wanted that track so now I'll try and track the Soundtrack LP down...
We had that model washing machine right at that time period.

Fantastic find

Well done. Some of this HSV7 videotape material is older than assumed. I am not yet sure who retrieved the tapes.
Definitely, Roger Dean (no. 3 for Richmond) retired at the end of 1973, so the footage is pre-74.
Thank God! I was pretty sure the Kevin Dennis Football Show wasn't screened as late as 1974.
Good old David Johnson

Email ...back in 1974.
Who is doing the vioce overs, is it Don Rainsford?
Which is the music of the end credits of This Week Has 7 Days?
Nicolás Pradenas I think it's "Theme from 'Call Me Mister Tibbs'".
great collection of ads there!! But really, David Johnston, what have you come as?? The '70s really have a lot to answer for!
Are you sure The Maze is a Australian fantasy horror television series?
It never release on the dvd when I check on Amazon

@@hebneh But do you think The Maze is available on DVD or Blu-ray? I hope is available on Amazon
@quizmaster85 I saw that too!!! I wonder what that meant!!
Sunday 27 January 1974, ~23.27.

My source was The Age; it's defeated me for dating the Elvis on Tour clip as it was sorely misprinted in August 1977.
If you look at some old electricity or gas meters at people's houses, there's a good chance they will have been manufactured by Email Ltd.
