One can see how Darryl crawled his way to the top

Both Daryl and Bert were at the top of their game in the ' 70s. Bert did a brilliant impersonation of Ernie Sigley - another GTV star at the time. .. the most exciting TV station in Australia in those days

    "I like the boy!"
Words that would haunt Bert Newton six years later...!

Brendan Richards the joke was old before the end of the skit, wonder what possessed him to resurrect it six years later, in front of Muhummad Ali of all people.

Looks like a snippet of a 'Mod Squad' promo at the head! I was fully expecting his bow-tie to start twirling...!

If his bow-tie started twirling, then he would also need a propeller beanie. Classic piece of history though. They don't make them like that anymore.

Did the real Colonel Sanders ever get wind of what his Australian ad agency was doing?

    • @Griffin_63

Paul Duca unless KFC’s Australian manager said something probably not. And he probably wouldn’t have cared anyway, Australia was one of his shining stars by then. They even beat McDonalds here by 3 years.

@Dom Falance Correct. 'Hey Hey' celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, 2021. (And I watched it from the beginning!)

Do you have the wheel segment with Daryl? or the ossie ostrich moments from this show

    • @Griffin_63

Chris Pyke DS was standing in for GK, so Ossie was probably home under Ernie Carroll’s bed.

That is just embarrassing. Very poor attempt at humour. Daryl was no Graham Kennedy, Kennedy had timing and talent.
