Ueda Reina's acting is GUT WRENCHING. Two words from her and I'm already tearing up, she's honestly a perfect fit for this character and makes me root for her even more. Hope this keeps being good and also hope we get some happier times soon 😢
Miyo crying cause shes never been praised before was heart wrenching 💔 i shed a tear when she got emotional 😢 absolutely LOVE this anime so far, might be one of my favs of Summer 2023
My happy marriage surpassed my expectations it's amazing so far , the art style, music, characters etc. I'm really hooked and I'm Very excited for next episodes❤.
This show is so good and it is more than a love story. I am reading the books and they are really good. The anime has done a good job with showing the emotions involved.
I have a problem with the first episodes of this series in the anime, in the novel says clearly that the place where kudo lives is too modest and it is in the suburbs, he has only one servant too, which doesn't make sense for a rich and prominent family (Miyo thinks that she is wrong with the address too). The austerity is the main reason because the fiances leave, and the fiances would have to work to live there too, Yurie isn't even living there. I don't know if they will say it in future episodes, but it is crucial to explain the reason because Miyo fits that situation perfectly. The problem that I had with this series was that the chracters are too one-dimensional, Gary sue or evil villain, and for me Kouji was the only character that I was surprised about.
This is not a spoiler (was mentioned in episode 1) but the Tatsuishi family that Miyo was supposed to be married to that was revealed in episode 2 is Kouji's family (Kouji is the one to be married to Kaya) so Im curious why the father changed his mind and decided to give Kaya to Kouji and not Miyo. Is it about her bloodline and is he trying to protect her? or is he selfish and he thinks Kaya is more worthy than Miyo? I agree though I want Kudo to confront this entire family. It is so heartbreaking to see Miyo and how abused she was.
I think what here played role is who is older child in family, second son (Kouji) is married to saimori family and stay in their home (probably gonna take their name) and Miyo was gonna send away to Kouji big bro (first son from Tatsuishi family). If Kouji would marry Miyo then they will should stay in saimori household and kaya would be send away to other family as wife, but we know perfectly that not gonna happen cause kaya is more valuable in their parent eyes and they want to get rid of Miyo from their life
I went ahead and read further, most likely the season will go past the (I presume) 3 volumes of manga, but my God, I don't remember ever feeling for a character so soon in the series, I just want to see her happy at all costs and can't wait for it!
I wished more people were talking about this one. Let’s ignore the weird use of the supernatural tag for a second and appreciate that it’s a very beautiful and stunning anime. I just love the periodic setting and I want the main girl to find her happiness.
I'm sold on the show too and look forward to seeing the motives behind Kiyoka get unraveled. The only thing that was off-putting was just how over-the-top malicious and cold Miyo's family acted toward her. Had a hard time buying it as it just seemed to be overdramatic for the sake of getting the audience to despise them.
I’m curious about her mom’s heritage since it seems like the Usaba family has a specific ability unless it skipped a generation in Miyo. Maybe her kids can get the ability in Miyo’s genetics. I was super upset when they cut down the tree that reminds Miyo of her mother. Kinema Citrus has made a lot of goodlooking shows but they have definitely made some bad looking ones that are much worse than this series so My Unhappy Marriage must have a good staff behind it
Maybe it is related to the spirti thing instead of skipping? I don't know btw, since she was mistreated since young and convinced herself that she doesn't have an ability, i wont show until she has more confidence
just as Anne Halford (sugar apple) is getting some nice things, we get another show with a tragic heroine... on the one hand, i find it extremely weird that an apparently prominent family would have their daughter basically do maidservant duties like that -- wouldn't other prominent folks hear about it? but on the other, i am also fully expecting the father to have some hidden plan that redeems him later. the premise of super badly treated FMC still feels weird tho. it's got me thinking: is this really any better than fridging female characters? but tbf, it's only 2 eps in, maybe things will change soon... and indeed, it isn't too unrealistic historically for women to be ill-treated in that era.
Miyo did not have a step sister. She has a half sister. They have the same father. Miyo was the result of an arranged marriage. Miyo's father never loved her mother. He loved someone else, who later became his second wife after Miyo's mother died. Miyo's father Married her off to the Kudo's because it was advantageous to the family, not out concern or protection for Miyo. When it was discovered the Miyo did not have any gifts, her father out right rejected her. Kudo did not want to marry someone who all they wanted was money and power so he put on an act to chase prospective fiancees away. He did the same thing to Miyo. But when she didn't act lke someone who came from a prestigious and powerful family, Kudo took an interest in her.
Dude, its obvious thst the father doesnt give a shit about Miyo. Your impression her father is all wrong and no where in the story is it implied that her father cared about her in the slightest. It actually says in the very first episode that Miyos father just wanted her gone. What in the story made you assume that Miyos father had any feelings of warmth for her? Im curious.

They just did a live action movie earlier this year, must be really popular in japan.

I am amazed by this show. Probably it's going to be a great love story.
Almost definitely going to be my favourite of the season. Just my type of show

I wasn't sure if I was going to watch this show, but your excitement made me decide to do it. I'll let you know what I think after I watch it. :)
After synopsis and 1st trailer we all knew it would be a great one
My happy marriage manga sold 7 million copies in japan .

Miyo's father had one simple reason
This series is SOO GOOD
Probably my 2nd fav op behind jjk.

definitely the best anime this season.
