Quality production of your videos. I’m subscribed. Awesome stuff.
Thanks! That's one of the best compliments I've received!
Thanks for the video Mark, I will purchase these bolt cutters soon!!!
Thanks, glad it was helpful!
that slo-mo clip with the epic music made my day!
Thanks man!
Just what i needed to see. Thanks
Glad I could help
Just what i needed thank your for the great video !
Thanks, glad to hear it.
Useful video, thanks!
You're welcome!
Impressive for a 14" bolt cutter to go thru a master padlock! Nice review Mark!!!
Thanks, it took some effort, lol.
I could cut through one using a 12 inch
Master Lock is junk.
Can you cut thick plastic with a bolt cutter or would it damage the bolt butter?
Damn it 😂 you put in a lot of effort to cut that padlock im about to do this today in my workplace. Hope it goes smoothly
I recommend going with the bigger Milwaukee bolt cutter, but this can work.
I need to cut my old bed thats going away. Thanks now i need a new friend called Bolt Cutter!
Good luck! They also make a bigger version, from what I recall.
@@MarkThomasBuilder Yea i think bolt cutter that can brake 8mm will do 👍
beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
They work perfect, just make sure if you let a friend borrow them that he knows how to use them
Good advice! I rarely loan tool out anymore, due to them being returned beat up.
Zombie apocalypse brought me here😂
Interesting... Thanks!
Same.
It definitely looks like it will be able to handle cutting shark hooks but do you know how easily it rust or if its a non-rust cutter.
I don't have experience with it being exposed to the elements. I'd say you would want to spray it occasionally with WD40.
Putting one handle against your stomach and pulling the other handle with both hands. Gives you more power to cut your lock.
trying to cut a screw under my sink with the same and won't cut
Everyone uses other materials not in mind of the intended engineering; bolt seals used in securing freight trailers or connex units on construction sites. The typical bolt seal of the day is a quarter inch diameter and made of aluminum coated with a thin layer of pliable plastic. I cut about five of these a day with a cheap set from Harbour freight 48” and my shoulders are about to explode. Lately, I’ve been using my hip/upper thigh and two hands on the other lever just to barely make the cut. Just wondering if the short set could possible be designed to gear down better than the typical 48” set?
That's a good question. I'm not sure about the answer, since I've only reviewed this size one. Ryobi makes a battery powered one that may be worth considering. I reviewed that on my channel about 4-5 years ago.
Just tried these Milwaukee 14 in cutters vs the anvil ones for 15 bucks less and they stopped working after 2 cuts through some stainless steel chains. The anvils cuts easier and didn't stop cutting. I was purty dissapointed in the Milwaukees.
Maybe the 24" bolt cutters would be a better match? Did you try adjusting the blades?
Same here. it stopped working after 1 week of cutting light duty basket containment for data wiring. It worked perfectly at first but....it did not last. I.ve switched since to Knipex bolt cutters and guess what, at only 10 inches in length and after 2 years of continuous use e it still cuts way better than Milwaukee when it worked. So...never Milwaukee again. Sorry
Are the jaws replaceable.
Or do you have to keep buying bolt cutters
That's a good question. I haven't seen any replacement jaws. You might want to ask on the Home Depot website to be sure.
I have a 15mm stainless steel Cuban link chain and wanna take some links off do you think a bolt cutter will cut through the links or is that an angle grinder job?
I'm not sure what it will take to cut that. I know a thin cutting blade on a grinder works well.
@@MarkThomasBuilder ah no problem thanks for the reply
Could not tell from the video but how much damage was done to the cutters after going through the lock?
I didn't notice any issues, but didn't zoom in real close to look.
Get an 18" cutter or longer for cutting real locks with less effort.
Good advice. This is probably well suited for wire shelves and thinner metal like that.
Got myself a 24 inch is that good?
What item would you cut the most frequently with a pair of bolt cutters?
markthomasbuilder - Tapcons - the thicker/longer ones. Seems like that tool wouldn't have an issue with cutting through it. Nice video.
Mary Brunner I’m sure it will cut them. That’s a good idea if you need a shorter one!
markthomasbuilder - yup, I agree - especially when it cut through that lock. I was amazed. I live in Florida(500' from the beach) - the corrosion around here is carzy! We either have to grind or cut things off. That tool looks like it would be a GREAT addition to anyone's tool box. Thanks for sharing this with us. VERY COOL! Hope you're having a GREAT DAY!!! :-)
I use an 18” one to cut through rusted u bolts
Thx I know what not to buy weak!!! Milwaukee sh.. made for paper clips and coat hangers 😂
Torch then cut.
Wow! It was hard to cut but it did cut it. Was there any damage to the cutter afterwards?
Not that I noticed.
Wafer wheel on 18V grinder is better.
Hi, I have a "Total" brand 24 inch bolt cutter on order, I am amazing to see your 14 inch bolt cutter performance. 24 inch will be a monster. It costs me $15 here in Pakistan.
The 14" fits perfect in a tool box. The 24" sounds unstoppable.
use the DOUBLE WRENCH METHOD on padlocks much easier and quicker. look that up here
Thanks for the advice, I've tried it before after seeing a video on it. The wrenches has some nice leverage working together.
This bolt cutter would work well for wire shelves and smaller projects.
@@MarkThomasBuilder right on . ive hurt my neck/back a couple times using bolt cutters . hehe getting old is a B ! also , i seen a video a while back called a BUMP KEY . i havent made one of those myself but it looks interesting . the nice thing about the bump key is that you dont have to bust the lock open and ruin it if you dont the original key on hand.
Will these cut through hand cuffs? Asking for a friend.
Haha, love it! 🤣
So I bought this Bolt cutter to try and cut a hardened Steel master padlock No.575, and I'm a doofus because it won't budge. This Milwaukee bolt cutter can't do it. It was definitely intended for smaller locks.
Can you return it for the Milwaukee 24" bolt cutter? That sound like a better tool for what your looking for.
Any 14’ bolt cutter should cut thru a 1 1/2’ padlock 🔒
It was like he was crowing out an new baby 👶
Haha, I might need the larger size cutters.
I love these because they are useful. But i cant stand them because of theives.
I just had my bike lock cut by one of these and within seconds a $400 bike i just bought was gone with a $20 lock ruined.
Im now watching this video to see the limits of a typical bolt cutter to see what style lock i should go for to stop any quick cutting from being done. If someone wants to steal my bike this time theyll have to put in some effort and time to get it. But the amount of time itll take theyll be caught by then. Ive had two bikes stolen this year alone actuslly both pretty expensive so a lock that cant simply be cut by one of these is what im going for.
Sorry to hear that, how frustrating! I've seen the U-locks that look pretty difficult to tamper with. Have you tried that?
@@MarkThomasBuilder the u-locks dont really work where im locking my bike up at. The pole is a bit too wide. Ive been locking it in the same place for about 4 years now first bike ive had stolen from this area the other stolen bike was on the opposite side of town. Picked up one of the nice kryptonite locks since those are pretty beefy.
The 14 Bolt Cuter is too small for Padlocks. And all the other material that you were cutting was mild steel.
Yes, good point. This is probably ideal for metal shelving and smaller bolts mostly.
I would of put a ratchet strap on the handles and let it do the work for me ...
Interesting idea...
Fiona Apple brought me here
Awesome, this comment brought me to her channel to hear what the song is all about.
Most definitely the 14 is not made for cutting padlocks
Good point. I just like to put tools to the test, especially if someone is wondering about padlocks.
Thanks man, you helped me decide not to buy this one.
Glad I could help show if it's right for you. I believe they make one a little bigger that's probably something you could have shipped from Home Depot.

Proudly made in China 😂😂😂
Yes, that's where it's made.
It'll cut it, just put your purse down.
Haha
