Brian Downey was always such a brilliant part of Lizzy! He made lots of arrangements together with Robo and Scott.
The secret of a Godlike drummer is for the listener to close their eyes and make them think you are thrashing the living daylights out out of your kit. Imagine their surprise when they see you make it look like your not even trying. Bryan Downey is an anagram of Godlike Drummer.
Nice to see a 70s band driving just as hard as they did back then (obviously not QUITE the same but still)

Brian Downey, such a great drummer that I'm appreciating more and more. He's as accurate as a click track, but when he rushes the snare roll it's thrilling - then he hits the cymbal exactly on the swing beat - before normal service is resumed. He proves that the most important musician in a rock band is the drummer, and that's coming from a guitarist.
What a musical hit on the snare, only Mr. Brian D. can do it
As with other drummers of the '70's versatility is key. Downey can go from Blues to R+B to rock to ballads to hard rock. Check out songs Johnny and Emerald. Then Downtown Sundown. Can change directions like an eagle.

Hasn"t lost a damn thing to old age, just the best rock drummer, up there with Alex Van Halen, Nicko Mcbrain, Keith Moon....I could go on and on, Brian Downy is one of the greatest.

Oh my god what a fantastic drummer
The key to a good drum beat is to have a Bassist Like phil lynott and two guitarist sit down and talk to each others truly out in the blue rare that Brian still without effort drums this today, I can't even keep up what he does at the snare or tom during the breaks to up tempo. Still to this day I have never heard a Record like live and dangerous and I will proably never hear anything like proably why Ireland got Phil as a statue. Good drumming Brian Still to this day best drummer out of Ireland.

Lissen To Bad Reputation and Sha La la and Warrior, Don't Believe a word Dancing In The moon light, you will hear Drumming Inventing in To Rock n Roll. Brian Downey Could proably drum 8s around Ginger Baker Keith Moon or even john Fogertys Drummer. I Like to point out Brian Downey never preformed Drunk or took any drugs during gigs live I bet manny people have heard Thin Lizzys drummer and never even though of he invented dubbole peddalh to manny songs that previous Beatles drummer Ringo used for manny songs. I think this is easly the best rock n roll drummer people should look up and learn a thing or two from. i would like to see, Brian Downey play jazz atcually.

the only song to this day i can count that uses the tom as bass and bas as tom just pure invention that he could drum so all others in the band can lay down the grove thats really hard today to do as drummer, to drum for the song rather than for the fills Phil is right to call Brian Downey Irelands best drummer to think no matter what during all the albums Brian did with Phil they never had a dry session.

The magic is that his right hand is slightly looser becouse hes left handed which makes the hi hat sounds Epic manny Drummers dont get his sound
