I haven't watched this yet, but I'm writing this comment only to register my happiness at seeing Pandit Arvind Parikh Ji, continuing his service to music into his nineties. May God bless him with health and happiness for many years to come.
Niladri kumar taken to cleaners :) I agree, this Zitaar thing never clicked me & he is a good artist, no idea why dont he play regular Sitar. Thank you ustaad Shujaat Khan for being who you are & saying things as it is.
@bikaner007, it takes a maverick to invent something new. Even the sitar evolved out of other instruments, didn't it? Anything new always takes time for acceptance, but that is the way of life! It becomes common place after a few years.
@@samam59 That maverick is Vishwa Mohan bhatt who invented Mohan veena (Even that is not popular after these many years). which is far better an instrument & has some soul not Niladri who plays a ugly looking soulless instrument. I am not saying you should not listen to him, listen 24 hrs. but that doesnot change reality.
@@bikaner007 I agree with you but one thing I wanna add that this is not true that mohan Veena invented by vishwa mohan bhatt. Maybe he gave name to instrument after his name but this Indian style slide guitar is very firstly played by Brij Bhushan kabra you can search. Many don't know about it and even vishwa mohan bhatt never said this truth. People are so like bhed-chaal no one trying to search real diamond between stones. Many people like Brij Bhushan kabra should be credited what they deserve. Same case in zitar the bogus instrument get like wow but that is disgusting...

Each artist of this gharana has his/her flavour. I like the lyricism of U.Shujat Khan, the taans merging into the bandish than standing apart and the lilting quality of his playing. Is this baithak series over? If not, kindly do invite Ustad Irshad Khan.
you have suggested a excellent artist and sujats cousin brother irshad sir. Along with this i humbly suggest nishath khan, budhaditya mukhaji be invited for a bhaitak.
He is not ustad .... (shandar baap ka nalayak beta) In present time we can say only two persons ustad 1.Ustad Shahid parvez 2.ustad Ashraf Sharif khan(son of magical ustad Sharif khan poonchwale)
Most mediocre sitar artiste... just showbaaji.. no substance... isn't even able to control elementary level beat...taal mein bajaana toh sikh le bhai..
@@ambareeshiyer but you should concentrate on the subject that he is talking about, and what he said is the reality. If musicians are forgetting their responsibilities, they need to be reminded. For example, Kaushiki is irresponsible with her srgm taan that she uses to get clapped. Those are just money tricks. Someone has to say that the king is naked!
@@ravindrasaraf5620 but artiste toh faltu hi hain Shujat khan.. ekdum mediocre...Kaushik aur iska koi comparison hi nahi hain.. although I'm not great fan of her music as well, but her foundation and quality of music are par excellence which has come through rigorous practice and not gyan baaji.. yeh baith ke sirf gyan baaji karta hain...jabki music mein koi Dum nahi hain..

Regarding Niladri Kumar, he is an outstanding sitarist. His Shri raag, kaunsi kanhara come to the mind for their lyricism and technical mastery.
