Half-Life 1 VR on Quest 3

This is Half-Life 1 VR running natively on the Quest 3 - no PC needed after the initial install. Will also work on older Quest headsets.
Apologies for the audio getting out of sync as I’m playing. An unfortunate side effect of capturing 90fps gameplay at 36fps and then displaying at 30fps on RUclips.
What do you need?
A copy of Half-Life 1 installed on your PC.
Developer mode enabled on your headset. Do this in the mobile/tablet app by going to Settings, Devices, Quest 3, Headset Settings, Developer mode. Click on the link there and follow the instructions. When you’re done, return to the app, and there should be an on/off toggle in the Developer Mode section.
Install Side Quest on the PC: sidequestvr.co...
Connect the Quest to the PC by cable and use Sidequest to search for the Half-Life 1 VR mod and install it. It will ask for the path to the PC install of HL1 and use those files while transferring to the Quest. And… you’re done.
Go to your list of games on the headset, choose to filter by unofficial software, and Lambda1VR (that’s Half-Life) should be there. Make sure the MR mode is turned off the first time you launch the game. Otherwise you will get into a security prompt loop that you need to reboot the headset (hold down power button for two seconds) to get out of.

it won't work when I try to sideload it. Can I just drag and drop it into the quest somehow?

Is there a way to swap weapons?

Yes. It’s like HL Alyx. Click the stick of your weapon hand and while holding the stick pressed, you move your hand up or down to select a weapon.

not working for me sadly, i crash when trying to start a new game

This happened to me too! I went to sidequest and installed the game again. That did the trick. Remember to turn off the see-through before launching the game. Otherwise it will also crash.

@@Primalsage i’ve tried reinstalling a few times but i still have the same issue, the first time i installed i was able to see the menu background with gordon but now i can’t get it to show up anymore, the texture for the cursor shows up when i drop in the files though so it should work, i’ve even tried reinstalling hl on steam. i’ll try installing it from the sidequest app in the quest to see if that changes anything
