God, the idea that Qrow doesn't know his nieces are dead wounds me, but Taiyang only got to see his youngest daughter in a warning from Atlas and it cut out all too soon for him. He doesn't even have a clue what's happened to his babies in the now destroyed Kingdom.

I dunno, there's something about the fact that they _didn't_ stop to have a moment with each other because they thought they were just gonna meet back up in a few hours and everything would be fine. Everyone on that ship acted as though it was just gonna be a quick mission and then back to normal, with no clue that things were about to go straight to hell in the course of that single night and over the two days after that. That kind of situation leaves you with the regret of "I didn't even say goodbye..."
Nah, while gut wrenching it’d make it almost predictable thst something horrible would happen. Think about it, the bad luck omen saying “good luck” to his niece before a mission.
to be fair, the only 5 people that know Ruby is alive are Weiss, Blake, Yang, Neo, and Juane. And Neo is going to have some Strong Arguments against that too.

God I've never even considered this. A friend of mine that recently binged the entirety of RWBY told me he was really bothered by the fact in the volume's finale the main characters fall, saying "that's stupid, we all know they didn't die so what's the point?" I told him to remember the rest of the cast thinks they really died and that's going to affect them but he brushed it off "I can't feel bad for them since I know team RWBY is alive anyway". I didn't even think about how Qrow reacted badly to the loss of a new found friend and how worse he could react now to the loss of his nieces.
It's not the end. RWBY will return, it's just a matter of how and when. How will they get out of the world they landed in and when will they see their friends again.
Yeah, or... you know... if you were also a father pretending to be only an uncle because you didn't want your bad luck semblance to affect your daughter and niece while they grew up together.

Say what you want about the show, but they are doing something absolutely right with the music in these three moments. The violins in the second clip and track in the third clip seriously gives that really clear excitement and impending doom feeling.
People tend to miss the forest for the trees with RWBY in my opinion They constantly call out and condemn the issues which I'll admit it does have But Holy shit when they do something right its nigh on perfect in my opinion
Wouldnt Marrow have been filled in by Winter as to what the plan was, and therefore should be under the impression that everyone made it out according to plan? From his perspective nothing should have gone wrong and he should believe that everyone else is in Vacuo

Man, all the stuff that happened in the early volume feels like ages ago. Like they haven't seen each other in weeks when it's really just been a couple days. It really makes everything they've been through this volume seem so much... More.
I never realized that, as far as Qrow is concerned, he just watched his nieces and their friends die and he's most likely going to have to explain this to Tai. I wouldn't be surprised if Qrow fell back into his alcoholism between volumes to cope with the grief.

I'm gonna cry because if everyone believes that team Rwby is dead then Qrow is gonna have to tell Tai who might A) be devastated and blame Qrow. Or B) just be devastated. Either way it's gonna hurt. I think Tai is going tojoin Qrow and they're basically going to go "We have nothing left.... Lets hurt/trytokill Salem" and head down that path. They didn't with Summer.. because they had the girls that needed a home. Qrow provided money from far away, Tai raised them with love. (and apparently even Raven kept an eye out in her own disfuctional way). So, I think a lot of their trip after will be a anger/dispair journey for the last artifact situation. (I also still think Qrow+summer are ruby's parents. But Qrow blamed himself for Summer's fate with his Luck and chose to stay further away and be the distant uncle providing money and keeping them safe but not being their father)
Imagine the kind of volume we're going to get just based on the fact that Qrow, Oscar, Ren, Nora, Emerald, Winter ect will believe Jaune, and Team RWBY all died. And to add up, Ruby will learn about Penny's death, it will break my heart just as much. So many tears will be shed, I feel it. But, hopefully a reunion will take place in volume 9 or 10, even though it'll mean the emotions won't be bearable. Let's get ready to fill an ocean of tears.
I have a really bad feeling Ruby will be furious at Jaune for killing Penny after everything they did to keep her alive at first, but she'll grow to understand why he did it.
Yeah, if qrow starts drinking again it's gonna be worse than its ever been... Winter will probably be the only one who COULD pull him out of it, and honestly, she'd probably have to beat it out of him.

Also we never really knew if Qrow was aware of the whole plan? He does look like he thinks Ruby and Yang are still in Atlas there, but he has to have discussed the plan with Winter and Marrow, and maybe the other teams… Idk
I feel like his concern comes from the fact that their plan very obviously went awry. He knows that the plan was for Team RWBY to create that pocket dimension and go through it to get to Vacuo, but he has no idea if they actually managed to do that. The broadcast where Jaune was supposed to tell everyone to go through the portals was unexpectedly cut off, which was a very clear sign that something went wrong. Qrow then spent the whole rest of the plan in an airship, so he didn't even get to see if the portals stayed up long enough for people to be evacuated. And then he sees Atlas drop, followed by Cinder and *_Salem_* flying away from it. Given his cynical nature, of course the worst case scenario pops into his mind: Cinder interfered, stopped Team RWBY from getting to Vacuo somehow, and Salem could have possibly helped since he has no idea _when_ she regenerated.
I don’t think Qrow was aware of the plan, atleast not in it’s entirety. It’s quite possible that Winter just told them to evacuate. Or to get to Vacuo.
My one worry is that this would push Qrow to going back to the Branwen Tribe and Raven, who would be a terrible influence. Hopefully Robyn and the Ace Ops can keep him from going off the deep end

It only just occurred to me that Qrow wasn't in on the plan to use the Staff and evacuate the city, so as far as he is concerned Ruby and Yang were on Atlas when it fell. And given there's no global communication, he has no way of knowing that anybody survived. (And of course, there's the fact that even if he DID know he'd have to deal with the fact that Ruby and Yang never left the portals, but that's a whole other matter)

What makes this worse to me is that this probably gave Qrow flashbacks of Summer Rose never returning from her mission *(he lost his teammate and now his nieces)* . Now that I think about it, Ty Yang didn't know that he was watching a recording of Ruby *(once communication across the kingdoms was back on)* you can see the fear and worry when the broadcast got cut off, I wouldn't be surprised if he was thinking/feeling the same way Qrow did at the end of Volume 8.
Qrow really always has the short end of the stick. It's getting more and more heartbreaking though. Lost his team (team STRQ) to start off with, after Summer went on a mission alone and is missing ever since Thought he lost his guidens in volume 3, until Oscar showed up. Poisoned in volume 4. Betrayed by Lionheart in volume 5. Lost faith, in his long time friend, after knowing the truth on everything that Ozpin was hiding in volume 6. Lost a new friend (Clover) that could negate his misfortune, that way Qrow could be arround everyone without a worry, he died due to an order that Ironwood gave in volume 7 (they should had taken out Tyrian first before continuing fighting among themselfs). And now Qrow is completely in the dark on what happend to Ruby and co. in the finale of volume 8. Qrow should only know what happend to Ruby on what Weiss was able to tell Winter, once she was in the elevator and then what Winter passed on to Qrow of Ruby being save at Weiss's place (when talking about the plan to stop the rest of the Ace Ops). We offcourse are going to get a weird other dimension volume in volume 9, as they fell into the void that Ambrosius created, so maybe it's going to be a differend time flow kind of deal (like a month passed where Ruby, Weiss, Blake, Yang, Neo and Jaune fell into and maybe only a few days passed in Remnant where Ren, Nora, Oscar and Winter are. But hopefully volume 10 once Qrow, Robyn, Elm, Harriet and Marrow (maybe even Maria and Pietro as the RT writers completely forgot about them (they also forget about all off them of team FNKI, we just have to asume now that Flynt and Neon didn't get out alive from the battlefield fighting the grimm and RT forgot about that other altasian finalist from volume 3)), hopefully once they reach Vacuo I hope Qrow can take Ruby and Yang in his arms for a moment again.
Ironwood has definitely made some crucial mistakes recently, but he's been manipulated for a long time in this series and is also a victim of Cinder's/Salem's plans in this whole catastrophe. He's not blameless, but he's had his own hell to go through as well. There's a video on this channel from about a month ago that shows in more detail what's been going on with Ironwood.
I wouldn't say it is Ironwood's fault. When you think about it, to have a conflict, you need more than one side, there was the side of RWBY where they wanted to help everybody "mostly Mantle" and Ironwood's side, who only wanted to protect the relic from Salem, at any cost. But here's the thing, because Ironwood was so focused on Atlas, RWBY was forced to take drastic measures and create a portal to take everybody to Vacuo. Neo and Cinder took it as an opportunity to take their revenge. In the episode you can clearly see that Cinder was the one that pushed her with her magic and than betrayed Neo. What is the reason Qrow can't see/communicate with Ruby, they're not in the same realm "probably in the relics realm". So the true responsible of Qrow not seeing is niece is Cinder. However Ironwood did unwillingly help her. Salem isn't really responsible for it even though she is the main reason Ironwood was so obnoxious... You can blame who you want, it doesn't matter, because they are all to blame in one way or another.
Ironwood has been manipulated since the very beginning. First they use his robotic army on Beacon, than they cause him to separate himself from other Kingdoms’ contact, and the second James begins to trust and ease up, Cinder messed with Ironwood mentality even further by simply leaving a chess piece in his office. That chess piece doesn’t have any meaning other than to make Ironwood even more paranoid.
The way he calls Ruby and Yang (eventhough I only read Ruby on his lips) made me cry the first time. He thinks now he has lost both girls, his nieces, and also, in a way, his daughters (because, let's be honest, he is kind of a father to them). I don't think he'll see them again, I think he's going to die in the next volume.
I'd like to thank you for these clips, watching the whole volume or seek for specific moments can take a long time, clips like these help put things into perspective.
I feel bad for the man. But...well didnt he drop booze because he wanted to he a more positive influence on both Yang and Ruby? I can only imagine the massive relapse and how much of a violent drunk hes about to be.
When Ruby and Yang return from that weird Ever After Wonderland place after volume 9 and we all know they are…I want Qrow to first think they’re a mirage and freak the 🤬 out before Ruby calms him down and when he gets his head on straight-I WANT HIM TO RUN OVER AND TACKLE THEM INTO THE SAND DUNES OF VACUO IN A UGLY SOBBING HUG! Yes I mean UGLY SOBBING! I want this man to cry his eyes out cuz the final scene of volume 8 when Qrow couldn’t contact his nieces has been haunting me for the entire time volume 9 started and ended!
I suspect his reaction would be disbelief, and then an assumption this is some trick of Salems. It'd be only after the first blade lock that they'd get through to him, _then_ comes the ugly sobbing hug.
Why did I do this to myself? I knew this was going to make me sob and it did!! Can we please just give Qrow a break for more than a few weeks at a time?! The fact that they didn't even say goodbye makes it worse because they thought they were going to see each other again soon. I'm really hoping that Qrow and Winter lean on each other in volume 9. Not even in the romantic sense, necessarily (although, that needs to happen eventually). Just because they think they lost the people closest to them and they need someone to be there for them. The reunion in Vacuo is going to be so sweet, I can't wait.
SPOILERS.......for those who have not watched the series up through Volume 8. Now, we know from Qrow's delirium talking in Volume 4 that he told Tai "She's not coming back," meaning Summer Rose. Now imagine Qrow thinking and believing he now has to tell Tai that BOTH of his little girls are not coming home...ever. 0_o Qrow's semblance really sucks!
Yeah; he's cursed with his bad-luck semblance, his sister ditches him and all their old friends to be an outlaw, he finds a heterosexual life partner with a power that cancels out his own, who then gets murdered in front of him by a serial killer using his own sword - thus framing birb-boi for the crime - and now he thinks his nieces are crushed, drowned, or both. Man, if there was ever a reason for his alcoholism to relapse...
My theory is that in the other realm, where team RWBY, Jaune and Neo (A portion of the citizens from Atlas and Mantle) will only be able to escape the realm… By Raven. We're not exactly sure if she can open portals in another realm that is not part of remnant but where we're sure is that Raven can make a portal who's she bonded with, like Yang. Also, her semblance may not only be about opening portals to those she has connection with, but her semblance possibly tell her what are happening to them, like back in volume 2 where Neo was about to attack Yang, Raven was able to save Yang in time before she could even be impaled. So Raven would probably know what are happening to Yang. In order for team RWBY to escape, Raven will be the one rescuing them, perhaps she has Taiyang with him (And Zwei maybe) uniting and together, they'll go to Vacuo, by opening a portal to Qrow, either Qrow, Robyn and the Ace ops has arrived in Vacuo or not, it may be possible.
Oooh, possibly. Though, there's also the story of The Girl Who Fell Through the World. It was introduced to us in Volume 8 and mentioned twice by Oscar and Ozpin, so I think it has some connection to the other realm that RWBY, Jaune, and Neo ended up in by falling through the "world" in that pocket dimension. Oscar mentioned that the girl in the story returned to Remnant, so there must be some way out that may not require Raven's portals. Quote Oscar: "I thought the idea of falling through Remnant into a new world was exciting. I never understood why she was so sad when she finally made it back home."
Qrow is my favorite character for multiple reasons and one of those reasons is that I've only ever cried watching the show when Qrow was involved its always when Qrow is involved. he needs a hug
Now that we know volume 9 ends with a bit of a time jump between the ever after and remnant, not only will this reunion be painful, but he'll also have possibly a year or two of grieving what he likely thought was their deaths.
If Qrow is in Vacuo with Winter then as far as the 2 of them know their family is Dead. And as we saw by the end of season 9 a pretty significant amount of time has passed from when everyone went through the portals to when RWBY returned to Vacuo. So this is going to be fucked. Even Ren and Nora's reunion with Jaune will be a tear jerker
Wow, they haven't see Qrow since before General Ironwood went crazy. Winter only saw Weiss twice since they separate when Mantel was attacked in volume 7.
Sooo Qrow was kinda happy with Ozpin as his friend and having Ruby and Yang as nephews that kept him going. He got betrayed by Ozpin and went into deep alcoholic behaviour but finally got Ruby to break him out of it. He met Clover and had a chance to be around someone w/o his Semblance getting in the way aaaand then lost him. The 2 people he cared about and loved for a long time he now thinks are dead... Brothers almighty guys, Qrow hasn't had a break these last 2 volumes. He's been broken over and over, give the guy a break
and now he's going to find out that everyone thinks they are definitely dead because they fell into that void. he's going to believe them to be dead for an extremely long time
I hadn't even realized Qrow never interacted with Ruby or Yang in this volume... Like-at all. Then again, this volume does take place across two days. And now it's gonna be even longer since he doesn't know about them going to Vacuo, at least-I don't think he does.
Though, on a side note, Ruby's broadcast across all of Remnant WAS in this volume. We don't know if there's a monitor in the holding cells. He may have seen/heard them there.
So at the end of it all, he just lost his only friend he’s made in a very long time, and since no one told him anything, believes he just lost every single kid he’s been spending the last 4 volumes with. That’s beyond heartbreaking
The lion lost his courage, The tinman lost his heart, And the scarecrow lost his mind. As far as i can tell qrow wasnt given any information about the portal plan, he probably has no idea anyone escaped to vacuo. And im extremely worried about how he’ll take it.
Hey I’m Strange, Why do you hurt me in this way? Granted they’re probably gonna see each other again because you can’t have the show RWBY without team RWBY but this hurts me in so many ways that I cannot begin to describe
Am I evil for relishing this? I dunno I just.... I love the trope (if you can call it that?) where everybody and their loved ones think somebody's dead and need to deal with the aftermath (bonus points if there's the whole "didn't realize what I had until it was gone" realization) - but said character isn't actually dead. It gives me the sweet sweet angst I crave (and some super interesting opportunities for character development / emotional conflict) with the knowledge of not only a happy ending but, eventually, a bomb-ass reunion scene. Literally with every character that fell after Yang at the end of V8 my inner angst gremlin was just cackling, "yes...yes...YES!" I'm honestly so excited to live in a world where everybody thinks that team RWBY + Jaune are dead. Winter's gonna be on a warpath (the Schnee family overall is going to have so much room for relationship growth and meaningful character interactions), Qrow is going to be just an absolute MESS (though I'm actually seriously concerned that he'll relapse back into alcoholism - let the angst be plentiful but not *that* plentiful), and poor poor JNPR has now lost two out of four founding members. It's gonna be great.
Their reunion is going to have the whole fandom crying.

God, the idea that Qrow doesn't know his nieces are dead wounds me, but Taiyang only got to see his youngest daughter in a warning from Atlas and it cut out all too soon for him. He doesn't even have a clue what's happened to his babies in the now destroyed Kingdom.

I dunno, there's something about the fact that they _didn't_ stop to have a moment with each other because they thought they were just gonna meet back up in a few hours and everything would be fine. Everyone on that ship acted as though it was just gonna be a quick mission and then back to normal, with no clue that things were about to go straight to hell in the course of that single night and over the two days after that. That kind of situation leaves you with the regret of "I didn't even say goodbye..."

A friend of mine that recently binged the entirety of RWBY told me he was really bothered by the fact in the volume's finale the main characters fall, saying "that's stupid, we all know they didn't die so what's the point?"
I told him to remember the rest of the cast thinks they really died and that's going to affect them but he brushed it off "I can't feel bad for them since I know team RWBY is alive anyway". I didn't even think about how Qrow reacted badly to the loss of a new found friend and how worse he could react now to the loss of his nieces.

Say what you want about the show, but they are doing something absolutely right with the music in these three moments. The violins in the second clip and track in the third clip seriously gives that really clear excitement and impending doom feeling.

Wouldnt Marrow have been filled in by Winter as to what the plan was, and therefore should be under the impression that everyone made it out according to plan? From his perspective nothing should have gone wrong and he should believe that everyone else is in Vacuo

They didn't with Summer.. because they had the girls that needed a home. Qrow provided money from far away, Tai raised them with love. (and apparently even Raven kept an eye out in her own disfuctional way).
So, I think a lot of their trip after will be a anger/dispair journey for the last artifact situation.
(I also still think Qrow+summer are ruby's parents. But Qrow blamed himself for Summer's fate with his Luck and chose to stay further away and be the distant uncle providing money and keeping them safe but not being their father)
Imagine the kind of volume we're going to get just based on the fact that Qrow, Oscar, Ren, Nora, Emerald, Winter ect will believe Jaune, and Team RWBY all died. And to add up, Ruby will learn about Penny's death, it will break my heart just as much. So many tears will be shed, I feel it. But, hopefully a reunion will take place in volume 9 or 10, even though it'll mean the emotions won't be bearable. Let's get ready to fill an ocean of tears.
I have a really bad feeling Ruby will be furious at Jaune for killing Penny after everything they did to keep her alive at first, but she'll grow to understand why he did it.

Also we never really knew if Qrow was aware of the whole plan? He does look like he thinks Ruby and Yang are still in Atlas there, but he has to have discussed the plan with Winter and Marrow, and maybe the other teams… Idk
I feel like his concern comes from the fact that their plan very obviously went awry. He knows that the plan was for Team RWBY to create that pocket dimension and go through it to get to Vacuo, but he has no idea if they actually managed to do that. The broadcast where Jaune was supposed to tell everyone to go through the portals was unexpectedly cut off, which was a very clear sign that something went wrong. Qrow then spent the whole rest of the plan in an airship, so he didn't even get to see if the portals stayed up long enough for people to be evacuated. And then he sees Atlas drop, followed by Cinder and *_Salem_* flying away from it.
Given his cynical nature, of course the worst case scenario pops into his mind: Cinder interfered, stopped Team RWBY from getting to Vacuo somehow, and Salem could have possibly helped since he has no idea _when_ she regenerated.
I don’t think Qrow was aware of the plan, atleast not in it’s entirety. It’s quite possible that Winter just told them to evacuate. Or to get to Vacuo.
My one worry is that this would push Qrow to going back to the Branwen Tribe and Raven, who would be a terrible influence. Hopefully Robyn and the Ace Ops can keep him from going off the deep end

It only just occurred to me that Qrow wasn't in on the plan to use the Staff and evacuate the city, so as far as he is concerned Ruby and Yang were on Atlas when it fell. And given there's no global communication, he has no way of knowing that anybody survived. (And of course, there's the fact that even if he DID know he'd have to deal with the fact that Ruby and Yang never left the portals, but that's a whole other matter)

What makes this worse to me is that this probably gave Qrow flashbacks of Summer Rose never returning from her mission *(he lost his teammate and now his nieces)* . Now that I think about it, Ty Yang didn't know that he was watching a recording of Ruby *(once communication across the kingdoms was back on)* you can see the fear and worry when the broadcast got cut off, I wouldn't be surprised if he was thinking/feeling the same way Qrow did at the end of Volume 8.
Winter and Qrow talked to team RWBY to hatch a plan, when Winter called in C12. Who knows if Qrow talked to them, but it didnt happen onscreen
Qrow really always has the short end of the stick. It's getting more and more heartbreaking though.
Lost his team (team STRQ) to start off with, after Summer went on a mission alone and is missing ever since
Thought he lost his guidens in volume 3, until Oscar showed up.
Poisoned in volume 4.
Betrayed by Lionheart in volume 5.
Lost faith, in his long time friend, after knowing the truth on everything that Ozpin was hiding in volume 6.
Lost a new friend (Clover) that could negate his misfortune, that way Qrow could be arround everyone without a worry, he died due to an order that Ironwood gave in volume 7 (they should had taken out Tyrian first before continuing fighting among themselfs).
And now Qrow is completely in the dark on what happend to Ruby and co. in the finale of volume 8.
Qrow should only know what happend to Ruby on what Weiss was able to tell Winter, once she was in the elevator and then what Winter passed on to Qrow of Ruby being save at Weiss's place (when talking about the plan to stop the rest of the Ace Ops).
We offcourse are going to get a weird other dimension volume in volume 9, as they fell into the void that Ambrosius created, so maybe it's going to be a differend time flow kind of deal (like a month passed where Ruby, Weiss, Blake, Yang, Neo and Jaune fell into and maybe only a few days passed in Remnant where Ren, Nora, Oscar and Winter are.
But hopefully volume 10 once Qrow, Robyn, Elm, Harriet and Marrow (maybe even Maria and Pietro as the RT writers completely forgot about them (they also forget about all off them of team FNKI, we just have to asume now that Flynt and Neon didn't get out alive from the battlefield fighting the grimm and RT forgot about that other altasian finalist from volume 3)), hopefully once they reach Vacuo I hope Qrow can take Ruby and Yang in his arms for a moment again.
Just imagine Qrow's reaction when he finds out RWBY has gone missing. Even worse, why if he thinks that the team died and Tais' reaction too

Poor Qrow, he lost is nieces because the fault is Cinder and Salem, but the true responsible is Ironwood, right?
Ironwood has definitely made some crucial mistakes recently, but he's been manipulated for a long time in this series and is also a victim of Cinder's/Salem's plans in this whole catastrophe. He's not blameless, but he's had his own hell to go through as well. There's a video on this channel from about a month ago that shows in more detail what's been going on with Ironwood.
I wouldn't say it is Ironwood's fault. When you think about it, to have a conflict, you need more than one side, there was the side of RWBY where they wanted to help everybody "mostly Mantle" and Ironwood's side, who only wanted to protect the relic from Salem, at any cost. But here's the thing, because Ironwood was so focused on Atlas, RWBY was forced to take drastic measures and create a portal to take everybody to Vacuo. Neo and Cinder took it as an opportunity to take their revenge. In the episode you can clearly see that Cinder was the one that pushed her with her magic and than betrayed Neo. What is the reason Qrow can't see/communicate with Ruby, they're not in the same realm "probably in the relics realm". So the true responsible of Qrow not seeing is niece is Cinder. However Ironwood did unwillingly help her. Salem isn't really responsible for it even though she is the main reason Ironwood was so obnoxious...

Ironwood has been manipulated since the very beginning.
First they use his robotic army on Beacon, than they cause him to separate himself from other Kingdoms’ contact, and the second James begins to trust and ease up, Cinder messed with Ironwood mentality even further by simply leaving a chess piece in his office.
That chess piece doesn’t have any meaning other than to make Ironwood even more paranoid.

The way he calls Ruby and Yang (eventhough I only read Ruby on his lips) made me cry the first time. He thinks now he has lost both girls, his nieces, and also, in a way, his daughters (because, let's be honest, he is kind of a father to them).
I don't think he'll see them again, I think he's going to die in the next volume.
Could be worse, atleast he has Robyn to talk to and help pick him up as he falls. So he's not completely alone.

The fact that they didn't even say goodbye makes it worse because they thought they were going to see each other again soon. I'm really hoping that Qrow and Winter lean on each other in volume 9. Not even in the romantic sense, necessarily (although, that needs to happen eventually). Just because they think they lost the people closest to them and they need someone to be there for them. Now, we know from Qrow's delirium talking in Volume 4 that he told Tai "She's not coming back," meaning Summer Rose. Now imagine Qrow thinking and believing he now has to tell Tai that BOTH of his little girls are not coming home...ever. 0_o Qrow's semblance really sucks!

Yeah; he's cursed with his bad-luck semblance, his sister ditches him and all their old friends to be an outlaw, he finds a heterosexual life partner with a power that cancels out his own, who then gets murdered in front of him by a serial killer using his own sword - thus framing birb-boi for the crime - and now he thinks his nieces are crushed, drowned, or both. Man, if there was ever a reason for his alcoholism to relapse...

My theory is that in the other realm, where team RWBY, Jaune and Neo (A portion of the citizens from Atlas and Mantle) will only be able to escape the realm… By Raven. We're not exactly sure if she can open portals in another realm that is not part of remnant but where we're sure is that Raven can make a portal who's she bonded with, like Yang. Also, her semblance may not only be about opening portals to those she has connection with, but her semblance possibly tell her what are happening to them, like back in volume 2 where Neo was about to attack Yang, Raven was able to save Yang in time before she could even be impaled. So Raven would probably know what are happening to Yang. In order for team RWBY to escape, Raven will be the one rescuing them, perhaps she has Taiyang with him (And Zwei maybe) uniting and together, they'll go to Vacuo, by opening a portal to Qrow, either Qrow, Robyn and the Ace ops has arrived in Vacuo or not, it may be possible.

It was introduced to us in Volume 8 and mentioned twice by Oscar and Ozpin, so I think it has some connection to the other realm that RWBY, Jaune, and Neo ended up in by falling through the "world" in that pocket dimension. Oscar mentioned that the girl in the story returned to Remnant, so there must be some way out that may not require Raven's portals.
Quote Oscar: "I thought the idea of falling through Remnant into a new world was exciting. I never understood why she was so sad when she finally made it back home."
Qrow is my favorite character for multiple reasons
and one of those reasons is that I've only ever cried watching the show when Qrow was involved

Coming back to see this after Qrow not appearing in volume 9 sure is something.
Well shit, the beginning hits harder than expected - especially since everything gets so... dark so quickly.
Now that we know volume 9 ends with a bit of a time jump between the ever after and remnant, not only will this reunion be painful, but he'll also have possibly a year or two of grieving what he likely thought was their deaths.
If Qrow is in Vacuo with Winter then as far as the 2 of them know their family is Dead. And as we saw by the end of season 9 a pretty significant amount of time has passed from when everyone went through the portals to when RWBY returned to Vacuo. So this is going to be fucked. Even Ren and Nora's reunion with Jaune will be a tear jerker

Wow, they haven't see Qrow since before General Ironwood went crazy. Winter only saw Weiss twice since they separate when Mantel was attacked in volume 7.
Sooo Qrow was kinda happy with Ozpin as his friend and having Ruby and Yang as nephews that kept him going. He got betrayed by Ozpin and went into deep alcoholic behaviour but finally got Ruby to break him out of it. He met Clover and had a chance to be around someone w/o his Semblance getting in the way aaaand then lost him. The 2 people he cared about and loved for a long time he now thinks are dead...
Brothers almighty guys, Qrow hasn't had a break these last 2 volumes. He's been broken over and over, give the guy a break
and now he's going to find out that everyone thinks they are definitely dead because they fell into that void. he's going to believe them to be dead for an extremely long time

I hadn't even realized Qrow never interacted with Ruby or Yang in this volume... Like-at all. Then again, this volume does take place across two days. And now it's gonna be even longer since he doesn't know about them going to Vacuo, at least-I don't think he does.
Though, on a side note, Ruby's broadcast across all of Remnant WAS in this volume. We don't know if there's a monitor in the holding cells. He may have seen/heard them there.
So at the end of it all, he just lost his only friend he’s made in a very long time, and since no one told him anything, believes he just lost every single kid he’s been spending the last 4 volumes with. That’s beyond heartbreaking

As far as i can tell qrow wasnt given any information about the portal plan, he probably has no idea anyone escaped to vacuo. And im extremely worried about how he’ll take it.

Am I evil for relishing this? I dunno I just.... I love the trope (if you can call it that?) where everybody and their loved ones think somebody's dead and need to deal with the aftermath (bonus points if there's the whole "didn't realize what I had until it was gone" realization) - but said character isn't actually dead. It gives me the sweet sweet angst I crave (and some super interesting opportunities for character development / emotional conflict) with the knowledge of not only a happy ending but, eventually, a bomb-ass reunion scene. Literally with every character that fell after Yang at the end of V8 my inner angst gremlin was just cackling, "yes...yes...YES!"
I'm honestly so excited to live in a world where everybody thinks that team RWBY + Jaune are dead. Winter's gonna be on a warpath (the Schnee family overall is going to have so much room for relationship growth and meaningful character interactions), Qrow is going to be just an absolute MESS (though I'm actually seriously concerned that he'll relapse back into alcoholism - let the angst be plentiful but not *that* plentiful), and poor poor JNPR has now lost two out of four founding members.
It's gonna be great.
V10 needs to be hugs and love all around for everybody.
