Somewhat calling Ruby a huntress...Little's memories are still there, and it made things so much more touching. I'm happy Ruby got that kind of moment with such a special friend to her.

Everyone is focusing on Somewhat’s goodbye to Ruby for good reason, but their interaction with Jaune and Juniper is really cute. Just a tiny little squire getting to meet a brave, heroic knight and being gifted his beloved steed.

From giving someone begging for money, to destroying a fuel depot, even siding with a company over some environmentalists. It all has consequences that you don’t think of

I’m with you on that. Ruby got more character development in the last 10 episodes than in 8 other volumes. And yeah, she’s kinda back where she started with the whole “excitable and innocent” thing, but now she’s actually putting her needs and wants out there, not bottling everything up while she tries to help literally everyone else.

Somewhat and Juniper are the marks of Ruby and Jaune growth and the parts they play in that world. The perfect partners of two heroes that finally found some inner peace and are ready to move on.
I like the idea of rwby ending with a storybook epilogue similar to the prologue all the way in v1 as the adventures of team RWBY and their friends fade into legends like all the other fairytales
I love how you can tell that little became somewhat because of ruby. her cloak and the way it wraps around her collar. her belt and some finger less gloves. somewhat is living proof that ruby inspired and helped little find her purpose. and that ruby is a hero. not of everything. but of what matters most. the little things
Didn’t know neo became part of the true but I hope she finds herself honestly. We need a neo arc next season. She deserves it. We need to see her find herself she killed the cat like that’s iconic.
I say after Neo realized that killing Ruby was worthless because torchwick is gone , whether it is Ruby Dead or not. She's now on a journey to find her purpose and her voice
RWBY for a bit I thought it was done like it’s spark ran out. Volume 9…. It was a weird rollercoaster of emotions and honestly…. Honestly I’m glad it was. I think I can happily say that I’m glad I stuck around cuz this volume was perfect, not a flaw about it, completely beautiful even poetically so…. I loved it so so much
Same though. I'm a sucker for emotional gut punches even if some would call them low blows. Friend, Forever Fall, Until the End, a lot of the saddest songs from this show always make me cry no matter when it is I'm listening to them(except maybe in social situations lol)
This is the only volume where I was so emotional. Neo "killing" Little shocked me to my core and this scene and the flashback Ruby has during the Blacksmith's scene broke me😭
Many of us have also been told by a RUclipsr named "marylizabetha", who knows quite a bit about German folklore fairy tales and symbolism of words, that the acre with pyramids may hold the dead body of Penny because pyramids hold the dead. Since Pyrrha's "demise" looks similar to how the team looked when they fell, there is a chance that Neo would team up with Pyrrha and Penny against Salem when they return alongside Team RWBY.
Idk about that tho... but thinking about those 3 being together... woah what a power house. Even when penny doesn't have the maiden's power if well equipped she could be very capable.

Ok so as someone who has disliked RWBY for a long time due to writing decisions I have to admit this volume was actually pretty good. It not only addressed my problems with the story in previous volumes but it also gave it's own story that was legit very interesting seeing the character at what could be considered their lowest point really helps with character development. So I have to admit this wasn't bad.

1:21 What surprises me most about this scene is that Weiss called Little a protector. It’s a cute bit of irony when she was the one to point out Little’s apparent uselessness as they were shrunk down. She said that the mouse and I quote “had the attention span of a goldfish”. Seems they all matured in their own way. What a wonderful sendoff after all the heartache.

Neo becoming part of the tree, looking for herself after going so long in a fantastical role as someone she no longer was, hits you right in the feels.
I'll always dislike Neo for being cruel enough to crush Little but I also appreciate her for doing that because if she didn't do that Little never would've ascended and become the thing they wanted to be but was too small and naive to become. Idk if Afterans can go to Remnant given the cat wasn't able to go even in Neo's body so if Little wasn't able to they would've been on their own Little wouldn't be able to take care of themselves as we saw at the bridge. Ruby was Little's home if they weren't able to go with Ruby then they were practically dead especially since they didn't know the way back to their pack. Their "death" needed to happen so that they could become the new guide of Ever After since the cat's forever gone, it's protector, and be able to take care of themselves and others. Balance was restored. Another thing we never have to worry about Somewhat getting killed because Neo killed the Jabberwalker and the curious cat so she basically made the place safe for Somewhat to be the guide and hero they wanted to be.
The show’s not perfect, but I’m not gonna lie and say it’s terrible, it does so much right, even when it comes to handling some of main characters, Ruby I feel has grown a lot, everyone else too! I’m happy Volume 9 ended the way it did, I’m really looking forward to Volume 10 whenever it releases.
Somewhat's going to be flexing on the other mice who were impressed by Ruby just pulling the cheese fruit out of the ground😂 I wonder if those other mice will see Somewhat and realize that it is the young mouse who went off with the humans.
Listen I agree but I can also say that Ruby and Little barley interacted with only them talking in the beginning and when they were arguing. So I would have liked to see more of their friendship grow. Shit I wished that Little and Juniper were able to cross over to join the battle.
Honestly I wouldn't had mind more episodes there so they could introduce Somewhat's character more from these small interactions Somewhat still had Little's personality but they seem to be smarter and more capable than their old self. Juane could teach Somewhat a few things since he spent years there as Ever After's protector. We can also see how Somewhat interacts with Ruby. It would also been nice to see how the other mice responded to Somewhat and RWBY explaining what happened no doubt the other mice would want Somewhat around more so that Somewhat could pick up the fruit for them😂 who knows the same way Juane looked out for his paper buddies could be the same way Somewhat looks out for the mice.

Ruby takes a first step on getting better, Jaune is getting better, Neo is on the path to become better and Little…sorry Somewhat gets to see Ruby again, even if she doesn’t know it. This volume has its ups and downs and one hell of an emotional roller coaster. But damn if that doesn’t bring a tear to your eye.
Okay this probably is asking to much but I'm hoping the Ever After people come back for the final battle of the season led by Neo (who maybe assends to become a white queen like individual with some of the old Neo sprinkled in) and we see Somewhat and Juniper ride into battle to help the heros while Somehat wields a Sickle for a sword

Not so much afterans are limited have to ascend to change themselves not fully sentient. The tree probably not limited to just those two world they might ascend or descend Buddhist style to various world she sends them.
From what I gotten from the idea of ascension and Ruby's interactions with the Blacksmith it was Little's choice on how much of their memories and personality they kept. When Little chose to be like Ruby as their purpose I think they were given the choice on the memories they wanted to keep and how they wanted their personality to be like.They removed all their memories that shown them being incapable, being scared, not helpful, weak, and naive which basically is their whole life. They removed all the parts of their personality that made them incapable of helping themself and others and replaced them with parts that can help them do their purpose. However out of all the changes they decided they wanted to keep the core memories such as the feelings that Ruby gave them and what she is which is a huntress. This is just my thoughts on it.

The adventures of Somewhat and juniper is an acceptable spin off.
Little guided Ruby home and in return, Ruby imprinted so much on Little that they wanted to become a hunter and hero like her

Their "death" needed to happen so that they could become the new guide of Ever After since the cat's forever gone, it's protector, and be able to take care of themselves and others. Balance was restored.
Another thing we never have to worry about Somewhat getting killed because Neo killed the Jabberwalker and the curious cat so she basically made the place safe for Somewhat to be the guide and hero they wanted to be.
The show’s not perfect, but I’m not gonna lie and say it’s terrible, it does so much right, even when it comes to handling some of main characters, Ruby I feel has grown a lot, everyone else too! I’m happy Volume 9 ended the way it did, I’m really looking forward to Volume 10 whenever it releases.

Listen I agree but I can also say that Ruby and Little barley interacted with only them talking in the beginning and when they were arguing. So I would have liked to see more of their friendship grow. Shit I wished that Little and Juniper were able to cross over to join the battle.
it's sad you know, the friends they've made in the Ever After, Little/Somewhat and Juniper, and now they have to part ways.
Honestly I wouldn't had mind more episodes there so they could introduce Somewhat's character more from these small interactions Somewhat still had Little's personality but they seem to be smarter and more capable than their old self. Juane could teach Somewhat a few things since he spent years there as Ever After's protector. We can also see how Somewhat interacts with Ruby. It would also been nice to see how the other mice responded to Somewhat and RWBY explaining what happened no doubt the other mice would want Somewhat around more so that Somewhat could pick up the fruit for them😂 who knows the same way Juane looked out for his paper buddies could be the same way Somewhat looks out for the mice.

Ruby takes a first step on getting better, Jaune is getting better, Neo is on the path to become better and Little…sorry Somewhat gets to see Ruby again, even if she doesn’t know it. This volume has its ups and downs and one hell of an emotional roller coaster. But damn if that doesn’t bring a tear to your eye.

I like that the leaves appear as neo’s parasol makes it charming aaaand littles reincarnated design reminds me of a certain rose.
Gosh this scene always hits me right in the feels.
Okay this probably is asking to much but I'm hoping the Ever After people come back for the final battle of the season led by Neo (who maybe assends to become a white queen like individual with some of the old Neo sprinkled in) and we see Somewhat and Juniper ride into battle to help the heros while Somehat wields a Sickle for a sword
it's like the cat said, once those from the Ever After ascended, that the heart rarely forgets.
I'm sad that Jaune wasn't able to take Juniper back with him.☹💔

From what I gotten from the idea of ascension and Ruby's interactions with the Blacksmith it was Little's choice on how much of their memories and personality they kept. When Little chose to be like Ruby as their purpose I think they were given the choice on the memories they wanted to keep and how they wanted their personality to be like.They removed all their memories that shown them being incapable, being scared, not helpful, weak, and naive which basically is their whole life. They removed all the parts of their personality that made them incapable of helping themself and others and replaced them with parts that can help them do their purpose. However out of all the changes they decided they wanted to keep the core memories such as the feelings that Ruby gave them and what she is which is a huntress. This is just my thoughts on it.
