Yamaha Wr250f Vs. Honda Crf250x - GoPro Trail Ride

  • Wr is a 2008, the Crf is a 2012. Both have improved intake, rejeted carbs and FMF Q4 Exhaust (Crf has a power-bomb header also). Both bikes are pretty even, if anything the Wr has a little more power and the Crf feels a little lighter.

They're both great bikes, but I'd have to lean towards the CRF. The CRF feels a bit lighter, and it's much more comfortable to ride overall. It's also got a much lighter clutch pull than the Wr's which can get tiring on long rides. The main drawback (IMO) is that the power isn't quite as strong as the Wr's. Low-end power isn't bad at all, but it's a bit less than the Wr, and the WR has quite a bit better top end. While the WR does have a little better power, it gets pretty uncomfortable at times with its rock-hard, super skinny seat and wide/awkward radiators that rub the skin off the insides of my knees after every hard ride. The clutch is also kinda stiff and tends to fade when riding hard. The suspension is about the same on each as far as I can tell, brakes are a bit better on the WR, and I believe the WR has a slightly larger fuel tank. I would say shoot for a CRF, but if you find a good deal on a WR, you really can't go wrong. Try to avoid CRF's made before 2008 though since they're known to have issues with the valves.

@@OffroadEffex I agree dude. I have CRF and I change the sprocket surround put a low and mid range hot cam and a high comp piston and it. And now it goes WAY HARD I love it. (Oh and mines a 2007 model so I put stainless steel valves in it)

Hey guys cool video. I'm a big strong 210 pound dude. Would you say the 250's have enough power and torque to pull my mass up technical terrain and hill climbs. I know the 450 is an option but they could be overkill to. I dont plan on 100mph desert racing, that's why I'm leaning towards the 250...unless they are under powered for my dody type. Thanks...Steve from Ohio.

250’s plenty of power. 250 or the KTM 350. I’m actually (hopefully) going to purchase a Wr250f tomorrow. I’ve road the new 250’s and old 250’s and honestly, they have great power over all. The only time I noticed a difference between 250 and 450 power was track riding, the 450 pulls harder on tracks but haven’t noticed a big difference when it comes to single track or trails. My dads 210 and rides the piss out of 250’s. So yes, 250’s plenty

How do these bikes turn? All bike tests no one indicates how they turn. That is everything. Power meh. Brakes meh.
