  • Hi all, just to let you know this is a nightmare to do.
Disconect battery and remove the tray, this is all the room you get.
Remove winscreen cowl and wipers also rubber seal.
Remove air hose connecting from intercooling to inlet manifold.
Remove water pipes to heater, both ends you need the room.
Now you can check the top half of it? undo the electric, remove three screws and take off the black ribbed or finned solinoid. press in the end its spring loaded and check it moves freely.
look into the hole left behind it should look as clean as new, press it, it works acts and looks like a thermostat. If it does go up and down freely, stuff the rest and put it back together.
It was just a pure delight to remove the 4 bolts below and find out that there was hardly any carbon to clean. I joke but if you want to try it be my guest.
You use every trick you know, then run out and then make some more up to complete.

I am rebuilding my vauxhall combo 1.3cdti the carbon sludge was thick it's in the inlet manifold the inlet ports which has to be cleaned out it's a very dirty job getting the thick black sludge out I closed each inlet valve to get it out then use a cleaning fluid with a brush to remove it then rags to mop it up guys it's a job that is not for the faint hearted

the hose to the diesel filter you have to push it quickly down to up again as you do with a hydraulic hose you are going to disconnect

Really good video. I have a suzuki that has the same engine. 1.3 L Turbo fiat MJD. I am really interested in knowing how you cleaned all the black soot from the intake without removing the intake. My car is due for cleaning the EGR valve. I believe what you say, that is clean all the soot from the intake and the penis looking thing, hence wanted to know what did you use to clean the inside of the intake maniifold without removing it

That is not the EGR sensor, it is the EGR solenoid, it actuates (drives) the EGR valve.

    • @chrishouseman8510

The egr valve operates just from the exhaust gas flow suction flow that switch on the end just tells the ecu what's going on.

@@chrishouseman8510 You're very wrong, EGR is electromechanically (solenoid) actuated by the ECU. This is a FIAT SDE engine, I know it very well...

The part with the hoses for the fuel rail is not "A FILTER" 🤣🤣🤣 , its the inner fuel pump and the clamped hoses are not ment to be taken off due to it running high pressure fuel.

Is there meant to be a gasket between the egr solenoid and cooler?

Do you need new gaskets to do this job? Thanks.

    • @wondershutter4209

NO, you can use the same gaskets, just make sure you do not lose them when you take them down.

Thank vou for the reply. I think I have to do the same thing. I have the code P0400 and first the light with the spanner came on, now is the engine light on. Also when I press the throttle the engine seems to jerk a bit.

sometimes you can have electrical problems too, and I also had to change a turbo pressure sensor and now it's going well, but I'll block this EGR valve in the spring because it just making trouble and sometime the car smokes an expected because this residue mess that gathers at the entrance on where the air mixes with the smoke clogged and you do not have enough air for the combustion, or get into the engine where it burns and produces this smoke besides destroying your engine and produce more pollution.
      I hope this was useful
